Fab Friday Color Sketch: Avant Garden

Happy Wednesday!  Can you believe it's already March?  I can't but so much of this winter is throwing me off it's time to just embrace it!  The beginning of March also means it's the start of the last month of Sale-a-bration, one of my favorite times of year with Stampin' Up! since I love getting exclusive, free items every time I order.  Today I decided to play with one of those freebie items for this weeks Fab Friday color challenge.  I also have a lot of birthdays in March (including mine, yeah!!) so I've been working on make some birthday cards so they're ready to be mailed and today is another clean and simple one.

I started with Whisper White Thick Cardstock (love this new cardstock when I want a white cardbase this it's up to the task to hold up my cards).  Note:  I score the thick cardstock before cutting it in half so it's super easy to fold and crease.  Next I added a piece of Bermuda Bay designer series paper from the Brights Designer Series Paper Stack.

The stamped piece is also Whisper White and I used the Avant Garden (a SAB Freebie!!) to stamp all the flowers and dots.  This set is photopolymer so it's super easy to line up all the images and I only inked up part of the dotted stamp set so I had more control over the amount of splatter on my card.  Also I did add a little Wild Wasabi that's not in the color challenge but come on, leaves need to be green!

The birthday greeting is from the same stamp set and was stamped in Rich Razzleberry ink on Crumb Cake cardstock.  Another tip:  I make my piece of Crumb Cake wider than my Whisper White stamped piece so I could attach the cardstock at the angle I wanted and then just trimmed off the edges.  The final touch was to add a splattering of enamel dots using the colors from the color sketch (I used the Subtles, Brights, and 2016-2018 In Color Enamel Shapes packages for all the colors).

This is a great card if you need to make multiples since it's super quick to make and it's mailable which is perfect to send off lots of birthday greetings.  I also love the images and fonts in this stamp set and can picture this same card layout using all different color combinations.

Enjoy!

  5. Great card and what a great example of this awesome SAB set! And I tend to agree with you about leaves needing to be green so it was a stretch for me to use the Bermuda Bay for the leaves on my card! Thanks for sharing at Fab Friday!
