Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge Challenge #PCC366: Heartfelt

Good morning!

As soon as New Years is over I immediately jump to thoughts of Valentine's Day (I even already have my decorations up, much to my son's dismay, haha!).  When I saw the new From the Heart Suite in the new catalog I was instantly in love with EVERYTHING so of course I had to use it for this week Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge.

I started with Flirty Flamingo cardstock for the cardbase and then added Real Red cardstock as the mat for the Whisper White cardfront.  Next I took a piece of Whisper White cardstock end used the Detailed Hearts dies to cut out the heart image and then spritzed it with a mix of Rubbing Alcohol and Flirty Flamingo Reinker and cut out just a piece of it for the background.

Next I took one of the Real Red Heart Doilies and embossed it with the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder and layered it over the detailed hearts.  I used the Heartfelt bundle (stamp set and coordinating Heart Punches to cut out the scalloped heart as well as the foil heart design from the From the Heart Specialty Designer Series Paper (I used dimensionals to attach both heart layers for extra height!)

I thought this saying in the stamp set is oh so funny, and true!, so I stamped it in Real Red ink on Whisper White cardstock and then cut it out with the Stitched Rectangle Dies and then sponged around the edges with Flirty Flamingo ink.  The finishing touch to the card was adding some of the From the Heart Faceted Gems for that little bling accent you know I love.

There is so much to love in this card, and I can't wait to sent it out!  Make sure to check out the other cards the design team is sharing using the same sketch and we would love for you to play along with us and share what you create.

Dazzling Summertime Glasses

Good evening.  I'm back with another fun, summery card that uses the Pocketful of Sunshine stamp set and of course those awesome sunglasses.  I also love the new Tropical Escape Designer Series Paper and it's fun colors so decided to use the colors in this paper as inspiration for this card.

I used Blushing Bride cardstock for the cardbase and then added Whisper White cardstock for the cardfront before adding a strip of the Tropical Escape Designer Series Paper.

Next I took a piece of Blushing Bride cardstock and cut out a circle using the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits and then stamped the greeting in Shaded Spruce ink.  The glasses were stamped in the same ink on Granny Apple Green cardstock and then cut out the glasses with the coordinating Pocket Framelits and attached them to the cardfront with dimensionals.

Of course you know me and bling, so I added a few rhinestones around the top curve of the circle for the perfect accent.

Now come one, wouldn't these glasses be the perfect way to spend an afternoon at the beach or pool?  Maybe a sunrise run for me.  Don't forget the Pocketful of Sunshine stamp set is my featured Product of the Week so you can add them to your stamping toolbox this week and get a package of dimensionals for FREE.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Card Sketch SSINKCS28: Lovely as a Tree

Good morning!  What an amazingly fun and crazy weekend!  There's only one more weekend before Christmas and this one was full of Christmas parties and fun, cookie baking, as well as my last stamp class of the year (loved spending time with the ladies yesterday afternoon).  It was all a lot of fun and I'm glad I was able to get some things crossed off that To To list.  Today over on the SSINKspiration blog it's time for the monthly card sketch and I decided change things up and show how to use something that was designed for Christmas in a non-Christmas use, in this case the designer series paper.

I started with Delightful Dijon cardstock and sponged around the edge with Cherry Cobbler ink.  Next I took some Season of Cheer Designer Series Paper (currently on sale as part of the Year end sale) and sponged all over with Soft Suede ink to antique it and then matted it with Night of Navy cardstock.

For the stamped image I went to the classic, Lovely as a Tree and stamped the tree in Mossy Meadow ink on Soft Sky cardstock and then used the Soft Suede Stampin' Write marker to color in the trunk of the tree before cutting it out with the Big Shot and Deco Label Framelits.  I also used the soft Suede ink to sponge around of the label piece before attaching it to the cardfront with dimensionals.

For the greeting I used the Remembering Your Birthday stamp set and used my Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Write marker so I could just ink part of the greeting and stamped it on Very Vanilla cardstock, sponged around the edge with Night of Navy ink and used dimensionals to attach the greeting.  For a little extra texture I took a piece of Natural 5/8" Chevron Ribbon and used my ribbon scissors to trim the edges and then frayed it before folding it over for a stack ruffled effect.

It was fun to use this "Christmas" paper for a non-Christmas card, and a masculine one at that, go figure.  The other designers are sharing some great cards for inspiration so please, go check them out and then come play along and share what you come up with!

SSINKspiration Blog Hop: Merry Christmas!

Good morning!  December has arrived and with it holiday festivities are in full swing.  We’re having lots of fun and really trying to enjoy every minute together (even when Aidan was sick). For this months blog hop it’s all about Christmas and the designers are sharing some great ideas for this time of year.  I really love to make beautiful packaging to help make a gift truly unique so I’m sharing a gift packaging idea that is so pretty no one will want to open!
As you hop along, please be sure to comment and show some love on every blog! We are always excited to hear from our followers! You should have just left stop number #2 on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Blog Hop - Darcy at Dj's Stampin Place. If so, you are in the right spot. If a link doesn't work or you get off track, you will find the full blog hop lineup below.

I started with one of our Take Out Boxes (there are lots of great packaging staples Stampin’ Up! offers that really makes it easy for gift packaging).  Next I wrapped a piece of Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper (this whole package is beautiful, especially the poinsettia pattern).  Then I wrapped a piece of Mossy Meadow Stitched Cotton Ribbon around the box.  For the tag I used the Cozy Christmas stamp set and used Stampin’ Write Markers to ink the stamp before stamping it on Very Vanilla cardstock and then cut it out with the Big Shot and Deco Labels Framelits.  I wanted to make a mat for the greeting but I didn’t want it to be too large so I took some Gold Glimmer Paper and traced around the “outside” of the framelit I used to cut the greeting and then cut it out using Paper Snips.  I punched a whole in the top of the tag and then tied it onto the package using Cherry Cobbler Thick Baker’s Twine.

This package was really pretty easy to put together but by using the beautiful paper, ribbon, glitter, etc. it will really WOW anyone you decide to give it to (and you could easily turn the elements from this package into a matching card perfectly!)

Cozy Christmas Holiday Wishes

Good morning!  Aidan is starting to feel better (yeah) and we’re on the go as usual with work, school, and getting ready for Christmas.  I spent a lot of time this weekend working on Christmas gifts and packaging that I’m really happy with, as well as starting to conquer the looming Christmas card list.  Today I wanted to share a card I designed for the Mega Christmas card class and last month I shared the gratitude version of the card but thought it would be fun to share the original since it was one of my favorites.

I started with Early Espresso cardstock for the cardbase and embossed the front with the Big Shot and Stylish Stripes Embossing Folder.  Next I added a piece of DSP from the Merry Moments Designer Series Paper Stack and tucked a Silver Foil Doily behind the DSP.  The greeting is from the Cozy Christmas stamp set and I used Stampin’ Write Markers to ink the stamp before stamping on Whisper White cardstock, then I punched it out with the 2” Circle Punch.  The final touch was to tie a bow using Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine and attached it to the cardfront with a glue dot.

I love these classic holiday colors and how the foil accent adds some sparkle and it’s super quick and easy by letting the embellishments really dress things up.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Color Challenge SSINKCC27: Versatile Christmas

Good morning!  This weekend I was able to be very productive, due in part to the fact that Aidan was sick so we had to cancel some our weekend plans and just stay home and relax.  Hoping Aidan is feeling better soon (he was doing better yesterday and then said he wasn't feeling well last night so I'm hoping lots of good sleep will be just what he needs for a good day.  It's time for the color challenge on the SSINKspiration blog, the last one for this year and I really like this color combo, perfect for this time of year so I was looking forward to creating this card.  I also used lots of goodies from the Holiday catalog that will be retiring in a few short weeks so you'll want to make sure you have these soon before they are no longer available.

I started with Tip Top Toupe cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of vellum from the   Winter Wonderland Designer Vellum along the top and a piece of Early Espresso designer series paper from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack along the bottom.   A piece of Real Red 1/8" Stitched Striped Ribbon is perfect to run along the center.  I also added a piece of Gold Sequin Trim and a Bow tied with the same ribbon for the perfect accent.  The greeting is from the Versatile Christmas stamp set and was stamped in Early Espresso Ink on Whisper White cardstock before punching it out with the Washi Label Punch and then I sponged around the edge with Tip Top Toupe ink.  I created a mat for the greeting using Real Red cardstock, the Big Shot, and the Project Life Labels and Cards Framelits.  I used dimensionals to attach the greeting to the cardfront.

I made this card nice and easy using some beautiful accessories that make the card easy with lots of details that will impress.  The other designers are sharing some great cards as well so make sure to check them out and then we would love for you to play along.

SSINKspiration Red and Green: Oh, What Fun!

Happy Friday!  I know its December but is it possible for this month to slow down, just a little please?  It’s been a great week and we’re looking forward to the tree lighting tonight to really help kick off the holiday fun.  Today over on the SSINKspiration blog it’s all about red and green and the designers are sharing some great cards using these two colors as a focus (perfect for the holidays).  One of the products in this years Holiday Catalog, that I haven’t given much love to is the Holidays Fancy Foil Designer Vellum, this paper is so beautiful and shiny I knew it would be perfect for the focus of today’s card.

I started with Whisper White Thick cardstock for the cardbase (the thick cardstock is perfect for cardbases) and then added a piece of the green Fancy Foil Vellum.  Next I cut a smaller piece of the vellum in the Real Red pattern backed it with Whisper White cardstock and then used some Silver Glimmer Paper as a mat (yeah I know really can’t have too much bling and shine this time of year!!)  I wanted to make this piece look like a holiday package so I used some of the Garden Green 1/8” Stitched Ribbon for the package bow and then attached the whole thing using dimensionals.

The greeting is from the Oh, What Fun stamp set (I was pleasantly surprised to see that this stamp set is carrying over, it has some great sayings for lots of holiday projects!!).  I stamped it in Real Red ink on Whisper White cardstock and then punched it out with the Washi Label Punch, sponged around the edge with green and attached it to the cardfront with dimensionals.  Since I love my bling I decided to add two small rhinestones on the greeting piece for more sparkle.

This picture really doesn't do this card justice, it's so beautiful in person and is great, it uses lots of special (sparkly touches) to really bring up the wow factor and you can make it really fast, the only stamping I did was for the greeting.  I’ll definitely be using this foil vellum more and it will definitely be part of this months Just Cards Class projects next week so don’t miss out!

30 Day Gratitude Challenge: Day 30, SSI Masculine Monday

Good morning and Happy Monday!  What an enjoyable end to the weekend, I didn't necessarily get a lot done but I was able to relax and even see a movie with Aidan so it was a lot of fun and definitely a great way to get ready for the start of the new work week.  It's the last day of the month, which means it's the last day of this years gratitude challenge and I've really had a great time.  I decided to use the  Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog Masculine Monday as great inspiration and a great change of pace to wrap this month up.

I started with Sahara Sand cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of the Winter Wonderland Speciality Designer Series Paper matted with Basic Black cardstock.  I also added a different pattern of paper from the DSP package for the gold stripes.

For the main stamped image I stamped the tree from Lovely as a Tree (a truly classic stamp set) using Versamark Ink on Basic Black cardstock and heat embossed it using the Heat Tool and Gold Embossing Powder.  Then I punched it out using the 2 1/2" Circle Punch.  I punched another circle out using the same punch and some Brushed Gold Cardstock (retired).  The greeting is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set and was stamped in Basic Black ink on Sahara Sand cardstock and then punched it out with the Word Window Punch.  Both the tree circle and the greeting were attached to the cardfront with dimensionals.

This designer paper is absolutely beautiful and it works great for other types of cards than just the holidays!  I'll admit, this was the first time I used this paper and it's so stunning I'll definitely be reaching for it again soon!  There are some other wonderful masculine cards being shared over on the design team blog so go check them out.

30 Day Gratitude Challenge: Day 29

Happy Sunday!  It's so nice to be home after traveling most of yesterday so we're spending the day getting all settled and ready for the week (and avoiding all the crazy traffic!)  Just two more days for this years gratitude challenge and I've really had a lot of fun and have been able to send several cards out and also stocked up the card stash so I'm all ready.

This is another holiday themed card (mainly do to the colors and embossing) but could easily be modified for other occasions.

I started with Cherry Cobbler cardstock and embossed it with the Big Shot and a retired embossing folder.  Next I added a piece of the Merry Moments Designer Series Paper stack.  This card is all about flags and uses little pieces to really make the elements.

Starting at the back I have a flag using Mossy Meadow Cardstock and it was embossed it with the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder.  The next flag uses Crumb Cake cardstock and I stamped it with the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set using the same color ink.  The top flag is for the greeting and is Whisper White cardstock and I used the Ornate Tag Topper Punch.  The greeting is from the Sassy Salutations stamp set and was stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink.  For the swirled accent I used a stamp from the Oh, What Fun stamp set and Early Espresso stamp set.  The final touch was to add some Early Espresso Baker's Twine to the top of the tag and attached the whole tag with dimensionals.

This card is nice and simple an is a great way to use up scraps you have and to make multiples (and we all need these types of cards this time of year!)

30 Day Gratitude Challenge: Day 28

Good morning and Happy Saturday!  It’s been a wonderful holiday vacation and I’ve enjoyed every minute, today we’re heading home (we always like to get home on Saturday to get ready for the week and to avoid all the crazy traffic on Sunday returning home).  We’re full on getting ready for Christmas so I decided to use that theme for several of my remaining gratitude cards so they are ready to go.

For this card I started with Cherry Cobbler cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and the Stylish Stripes Embossing Folder.  Next I took a piece of Merry Moments Designer Series Paper and wrapped some Mossy Meadow 3/8” Stitched Satin Ribbon (awesome deal on the clearance rack right now!).  For the greeting I used the Sassy Salutations stamp set and stamped it in Cherry Cobbler Ink on Whisper White cardstock and punched it out with the 2” Circle Punch.  The cute little tree outline is from the Project Life Season Snapshot 2015 stamp set and was stamped in Old Olive ink (I made sure to punch the greeting first to make sure I could line up the tree where I wanted it).  The final touch was to mat the greeting with a Gold Foil Doily from the Metallic Doillies Package (these are on sale right now as part of the Online Extravaganza and they come in silver and gold, you’ll love them!!).

This is a fun, easy card that is great if you need to make multiples and is nice and flat to make the post office happy.  You could easily change the greeting to make this a Christmas card as well (there’s plenty of time to still make your holiday cards this year if you haven’t started yet).

30 Day Gratitude Challenge: Day 26 Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!  I hope you are enjoying time with friends and family today, we get together with friends from college every year it’s always a great time.  Today, as well as other days is truly a day to remember and appreciate all that we’re thankful for and we’re so blessed.  Of course I’m sharing a card today for the gratitude challenge and today’s card is the card we sent to our families.   On the SSINKspiration blog we're sharing thanks cards so make sure to check out the blog for lots of other great ideas.

For this card I started with Hello Honey cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and the Woodland Embossing Folder (I used the same technique as last week to add the color behind the embossing).  Now I will admit, I used a lot of “extra” pieces I had sitting on my desk to make these cards.  The leaves are from the Witching Décor Kit (I was able to use every last leaf through various projects this month and was so happy I had stamped, crumbled, and sponged all the leaves when I was initially making the hat kit so I didn’t have to make a bigger mess.  I used Tombo liquid glue to attach the leaves so I could just attach parts of the leaves so they have lots of dimension.  I added a bow using Mossy Meadow Stitched Satin Ribbon (also retired and was sitting on my desk).

The greeting is from last years Thanksgiving Paper Pumpkin kit (it is still available and the piece I stamped on was also in that kit so I just trimmed off the striped part (which didn’t match my card) and then sponged around the edges with Tangelo Twist ink.

These cards are so beautiful and have so many textures and elements that you really just want to  touch it (I may be biased but I was really happy with how it turned out!)

30 Day Gratitude Challenge: Day 25

Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving Eve!  I love this time of year and are looking forward to lots of time with family and friends (and relaxing!!!)  I’m running out of time to enjoy all the fun products in our fall collection so I decided to take this opportunity with today’s gratitude card to focus on the products in the Into the Woods Product suite (I love all the elements in this suite and how everything perfectly coordinates).

For this card I started with Soft Suede cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder (I sponged all over the cardstock with Soft Suede ink to add depth the embossing).  I also used the Big Shot and Circle Collection Framelits to cut a circle frame out of the cardfront.  I used several different patterns from the Into the Woods Designer Series Paper and matted the woodgrain print along the left side with Tangelo Twist cardstock.  The smaller circle was punched with the 2” Circle Punch.

For the greeting I used the Thankful Forest Friends stamp set and inked it using Stampin’ Write Markers before punching it out with the 2 ½” Circle Punch and attached it with dimensionals.  For some extra texture I added a piece of Rich Razzleberry Into the Woods Cotton Ribbon that I ruffled up using Fast Fuse as adhesive and then added one of the cute Into the Woods Wooden Elements and attached it with a dimensional.

This was my first time using this stamp set (borrowed it from a friend) and it really has some great images that provide lots of possibilities!
