30 Day Gratitude Challenge: Day 28

Good morning and Happy Saturday!  It’s been a wonderful holiday vacation and I’ve enjoyed every minute, today we’re heading home (we always like to get home on Saturday to get ready for the week and to avoid all the crazy traffic on Sunday returning home).  We’re full on getting ready for Christmas so I decided to use that theme for several of my remaining gratitude cards so they are ready to go.

For this card I started with Cherry Cobbler cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and the Stylish Stripes Embossing Folder.  Next I took a piece of Merry Moments Designer Series Paper and wrapped some Mossy Meadow 3/8” Stitched Satin Ribbon (awesome deal on the clearance rack right now!).  For the greeting I used the Sassy Salutations stamp set and stamped it in Cherry Cobbler Ink on Whisper White cardstock and punched it out with the 2” Circle Punch.  The cute little tree outline is from the Project Life Season Snapshot 2015 stamp set and was stamped in Old Olive ink (I made sure to punch the greeting first to make sure I could line up the tree where I wanted it).  The final touch was to mat the greeting with a Gold Foil Doily from the Metallic Doillies Package (these are on sale right now as part of the Online Extravaganza and they come in silver and gold, you’ll love them!!).

This is a fun, easy card that is great if you need to make multiples and is nice and flat to make the post office happy.  You could easily change the greeting to make this a Christmas card as well (there’s plenty of time to still make your holiday cards this year if you haven’t started yet).

Sketch Frenzy Friday Sketch Challenge: Cozy Christmas

Hello Friday, so glad to see you again!  I’m looking forward to this weekend, I have race on Sunday and we’re off on a family “racecation” to Hershey (chocolate, amusement park, running, family, what’s not to love??)  Before all the fun begins I wanted to share my card for this weeks  Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch challenge.  Karen gave us an interesting sketch that was quite the challenge.  I decided to keep it nice and simple for a Christmas card (nice and mailable!!)

I started with Smoky Slate cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Whisper White cardstock for the cardfront.  I added a couple pieces of designer series paper from the Merry Moments Designer Series Paper Package running diagonally across the card.  I stamped the little tree from the Project Life Seasonal Snapshot 2015 set using Old Olive ink.  In the bottom of the card I used the Cozy Christmas stamp set and Stampin’ Write Markers to ink the stamp for the greeting.  For a little bling I added three silver sequins from the Silver Sequin Trim (I always seem to have a few of those suckers floating around my desk).

This sketch is a great way to use of scraps of paper if you have them floating around which is always a great thing!

SSINKspiration Card Sketch Challenge SSINKCC26: Project Life Seasonal Snapshot 2015

Good morning and Happy Columbus Day!  I'm a little jealous of those who have off today (including Chris and Aidan), anytime you can get a long weekend it's always great.  I had a lot of fun with some extended stamping time this weekend which I haven't had for awhile and really missed.  Today I'm sharing another fun Halloween card I made using this months SSINKspiration blog.  We were given a fun and unique sketch this month that gave me lots to think about and work with, including a great way to show off lots of different designer series papers.

I started with Smoky Slate for the card base and then added this super fun pattern from the Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper pack.  I used another pattern from the pack and cut out the decorative piece using the Big Shot and Lots of Labels Framelits.   I used the outline of the same framelit and cut out a mat using the Basic Black Glimmer Paper (I love these glimmer papers).

I decided to us another piece of the designer series paper, used the Project Life Corner Rounder Punch to punch around all corners and then sponged all over using Basic Black and Basic Gray ink.  For the greeting I used the Project Life Seasonal Snapshot 2015 stamp set and stamped the words in Basic Black and Rich Razzleberry ink.  I used a couple of he Black rhinestones from the Witching Décor Hat Kit (left over from when I made my kit).  Before attaching the greeting piece to the cardfront (with dimensionals) I added a piece of the Spider Web Doily to the back.

I added a piece of Rich Razzleberry Cotton Ribbon that  ruffled up for texture and then stamped an apothecary bottle from the Sweet Haunting stamp set on Smoky Slate cardstock, cut it out with Paper Snips, and attached it with dimensionals.

I can't believe I'm having so much fun with all the great Halloween products in this years Holiday catalog, I can't stop creating (there will be even more fun to share later this week, hint hint).  Make sure to check out the other design team cards and the sketch challenge, we would love for you to come and play along and share what you created.

Fab Friday Sketch Challenge: Project Life Seasonal Snapshot 2015

Good morning!  I swear I blink my eyes and the week flies by, I really need it to slow down (I saw this week that we now have less than 100 days until Christmas, can you believe it??)  I decided to have a little Halloween fun today and made this card using the Fab Friday sketch challenge.   When I saw that doily in the sketch I knew it would be perfect to use the new Spider Web Doilies (I love these!)

I started with Tangelo Twist cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of designer series Paper from the Happy Hauntings Designer Series Paper Pack before adding that beautiful doily.  Next I added two pieces of ribbon for a fun accent, a piece of Into the Woods 3/8" Cotton Ribbon and Natural 5/8" Chevron Ribbon (I trimmed both sides of the Natural Ribbon and pulled some strings to distress the ribbon.

For the main stamped image I took a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and cut a large circle using the Big Shot and Circle Collection Framelits before stamping.  I used the Project Life Seasonal Snapshot 2015 stamp set for the words a bat images (the font for the "wicked" is so fun!).  I used some Basic Gray ink and a sponge to sponge around the edge of the circle for a little extra fun.   I also added a little strip of rhinestones to accent the "night."

For the final touch I used the Sweet Hauntings stamp set to stamp the little poison bottle on Tangelo Twist cardstock and then cut it out with Paper Snips and attached the bottle and stamped images with dimensionals for added dimension.

This is a card that came together really quickly but due to all the little elements it is lots of fun and will really impress (you can keep it a secret how easy it was, haha!!)  I may have to use the layout and elements from this card to make some box labels I'm working on for Halloween teacher gifts (got to get a head start!!)
