Fab Friday Theme Challenge - For Baby: Label Love

Good morning to the last week of summer before the kids go back to school next week.  We always choose to vacation this last week as a last hooray to summer and let’s be honest, vacation places are usually not as crowded and not as expensive which is also a plus.  Today I decided to play along with the Fab Friday challenge group and they had something fun this time.  One of the designers, Mindy, recently had a baby to today it’s a theme challenge “baby,” which is lots of fun.  I know Mindy had a boy but we have lots of friends having girls so I made my card in girl colors so I can use it right away.

For this card I started with Crisp Cantaloupe and then I added a piece of Whisper White cardstock and used the Hearts and Stars mask to sponge some stars on the white with Crisp Cantaloupe ink.   I used the Big Shot and Decorative Dots Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Baked Brown Sugar cardstock and then sponged the piece with Baked Brown Sugar ink so the embossing really pops.  I added a piece of Lullaby Designer Series Paper and matted it with Hello Honey cardstock.  I used some of the Baked Brown Sugar and Crisp Cantaloupe Thick Baker’s Twine to wrap around the DSP layer and then tied a nice thick bow.

For the greeting I used the Label Love stamp set and stamped it twice, once on Whisper White cardstock and Crisp Cantaloupe ink and punched the center out with the 7/8” Scallop Circle Punch and the second time on Baked Brown Sugar cardstock with the same color ink before punching it out with the Artisan Label Punch.  This makes a great layering effect and dimensionals really help it all pop.

This card is so cute and a great way to welcome a new little one to the family. Do you know friends or family who are expecting?  I love making baby cards and also like to make thank you cards for the expecting parents as a special gift so they’re all prepared when they receive gifts.  There is something special about taking the time to hand write a note of appreciation, I know it’s something my mom taught me and I’m teaching Aidan (I even write him thank you notes for gifts so he doesn’t think there are double standards).

Convention 2014 Organized Swaps

One of the fun parts of convention (or any gathering of Stampin' Up! demonstrators) is swapping.  Basically, we make multiples of the same card, or 3D item and then swap them with other demonstrators so we have lots of great new project ideas, techniques, etc. to show our customers and use on future projects.  This week I'm sharing the cards I made for this years event.  Today's posts are all the projects I made for organized swaps (which means we actually presign up for the swaps based on themes, stamp sets, etc).  This year I participated in 4 cards and a 3d sweet treat swap throughout the week.

Remember, this Saturday is my annual, "My Husband's Away, Let's Play Just Cards Class" we're we'll be making 5 of the swap cards I'm sharing this week (I made more than 5 so it'll be a surprise exactly which one's you'll be making).  The class is Saturday, July 26 at 1:00 PM and you need to RSVP by Thursday July 24 to save you're spot. Don't miss out on this opportunity to make these over the top cards to be ready for your future card sending needs.

Enjoy!

Hand Stamped Sentiments Sketch Challenge: Label Love

Happy Friday peeps!  Looking for a great start to the weekend and some fun family time planned (we’re running in a local 5K as a family on Saturday, Run or Dye, with some of Chris’ coworkers so we’ll have a great time while also getting a little exercise.  Aidan really likes these events where he gets covered in color so it should be fun to see how he does, just hoping it isn’t too cold Saturday morning.  Other than that we have an uneventful weekend planned so I can get some things done around the house and lots of stamping and crafting time.  Today I’m sharing the card for this weeks Hand Stamped Sentiments Sketch Challenge.  This sketch is really simple and lends itself to being used for lots of different projects.  I decided to step away from all the Halloween and fall projects I’ve been working and do something completely out of the box, so I made a baby card.  The cardbase is Pear Pizzaz and I added a piece of Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper that was matted on Melon Mambo cardstock.  For the three striped elements I decided to mix things up and used Island Indigo Baker’s Twine and Whisper White ¼”Stiched Grosgrain Ribbon.

The stamped image is from the Label Love stamp set.  It was stamped once in Pear Pizzaz (and punched out with the Artisan Label Punch) and again in Melon Mambo (punched out with the 7/8” Scallop Circle Punch).  I used dimensionals to attach both the scallop circle and the label piece to the card for extra dimension.

I hope you enjoyed todays card, it’s cute, fun and simple so you can let the design and message be the focus.  You still have time to play along with this challenge, I would love to see what you come up with, so take a little time to get crafty this weekend, you’ll love it!

Also, just a reminder, since today is the first of November I’m starting my annual gratitude challenge, where I make and share a card everyday for the month of November that can express gratitude or thanks.  These are going to be all sorts of themes and messages so at the end of the month I’ll have a large stash of card ready anytime I want to say thanks (because we all love receiving actual mail these days).  So check back each day and see what projects I’m sharing.

Have a great weekend!

Let the Fun Begin, Convention 2013 Begins!

Good morning!  I'm sending greetings to you from beautiful Salt Lake City.  I'm here for Stampin' Up's Annual Convention, this year it's the 25th Anniversary so we're really going to party.  One of the fun parts of convention is swapping.  Swapping is where you make multiples of one card design and then trade them with other demonstrators.  This is a great way to see fun, new ideas and have lots of samples to share.  For the rest of the week I'll be sharing the different swap projects I've been working on for the past several months.

This card uses the Oh, Hello, Label Love, and A Round Array stamps sets to create all the different layers.  I love the matching Artisan Label punch, 7/8" Scallop Circle Punch, and Oval Collection framelits, they really make cutting elements out a breeze.  I also used the Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper and 1/4" Daffodil Delight Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon for fun accents.  The cardbase is Island Indigo and I added a layer of Crumb Cake paper that was embossed with the Big Shot and Fancy Fan Embossing Folder.

This is such a fun card and a great way to use paper and ribbon scraps.

Enjoy and make sure to check back frequently since I'll be sharing multiple projects each day.

Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge: Label Love

Happy Monday!  Today is going to be a beautiful day and I can't wait to see what this week has in store for us.  Today I'm sharing a card for this weeks Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge.  This is a fun challenge since you can use so many different shapes for the four main pieces.  I decided to use the new Artisan Label Punch that was just released in the new catalog, along with the coordinating Label Love stamp set.  This card also uses the fabulous new designer series paper, Quatrefancy Speciality DSP which has so many fun and bright colors and patterns, you'll fall in love with it.

The cardbase is Strawberry slush and is one of the new In Colors, I know this color is definitely going to be one of my favorites.  The Whisper White cardstock was embossed with the Big Shot and the Mosaic Madness Embossing Folder.  The Island Indigo cardstock is punched with the Scallop Border Punch and the final touch was to add a piece of Daffodil Delight 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon.

I hope you enjoy this weeks card and make sure you check out these and all the other fabulous new products from the annual catalog, I'm sure if your wish list is half as long as mine you're in trouble, and lots of fun.

Take care and happy stamping,

Diana

The Paper Players Color Challenge: Label Love Sneak Peak

Good evening friends!  We're about to head out on an exciting weekend adventure and are leaving early tomorrow so I wanted to drop in quickly to share the card I make for this weeks Paper Players color challenge.  This card is really simple but the cool thing is that I uses several sneak peek items from the upcoming catalog release.  I started with a cardbase of Crumb cake and embossed it with the Big Shot and the Elegant Fan Embossing Folder.  The designer series paper is from the Poetry Prints DSP stack (which is retiring at the end of the month) and is matted with Raspberry Ripple.  I also added a piece of Midnight Muse 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon.

The stamped image is from the new Label Love stamp set.  You can get this stamp set starting May 31 and the great thing about it is that there's a matching punch which makes popping these out a snap (I'm a sucker for any stamp set that has a matching punch!)  I layered this on a piece of Midnight Muse that I cut out with the Apothecary Accents Framelits and embossed with the Lattice Embossing folder.  Do you notice the cute little button in the top right corner?  This is another sneak peek.  It's not a button but it's the new Simply Pressed Clay and Matching mold.  The clay comes in white and you can either press the buttons (also comes with a flower mold) in white and color the button once they've dried with Stampin' Write Markers or you can color the clay with reinkers and then press the clay so the clay is colored all the way through (I used the Raspberry Ripple marker to color the button) then I added a piece of Linen Thread in a bow.

This card is so easy and fun, I love all the different textures elements.  There are lots of options with this color sketch so enjoy!

Have a great weekend,

Diana
