Sketch Frenzy Friday Sketch Challenge: Hello, Lovely

Happy Friday, yeah!  It seems like out weather is finally warming up and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we are done with winter and we can finally start to enjoy spring.  It’s also another race weekend for me, on Sunday I’m running the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler, I haven’t run this race before but I’ve heard really good things and I’m excited.  I know the cherry blossoms won’t be in full bloom but I’m thinking it’ll still be really pretty with all the monuments.  It’s Friday so today I’m sharing my design team card for this weeks Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch challenge.  This is a really fun, easy layout that really lends itself to showcasing some of the great designer series papers we have this year.  For this card I started with a So Saffron cardbase (I don’t know if you’ve noticed but I really like to use a lighter base color so it’s really easy to write in the card and mail it out) and I added a layer of Baked Brown Sugar Cardstock that I embossed with the Big Shot and Chevron Embossing Folder (I love how simply embossing layers really elevates a project and it’s not a lot of effort, awesome).  Next I added a piece of Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper.
 

For the little flag elements I used the same DSP and the Petite Curly Label Punch to make the flags a breeze.  To hide the seam I just added a piece of the Coastal Cabana Stretched Ruffle Ribbon.  For the greeting used the Hello, Lovely stamp set and used Stampin’ Write Markers to color in the greeting before stamping.  A little sponging around the edge with a sponge and Baked Brown Sugar ink was the final touch before attaching it to the card with dimensionals.

This is a great flat, mailable card that is easy to make but really packs a punch which the recipient is sure to love.  We would love for you to play along with us for this weeks sketch challenge and make sure to share your creations so we can check them out and show you some love.

Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge: Hello, Lovely

Good morning friends!  This is a really crazy week with the family but I wanted to share this really fun, and easy card I create for this weeks Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge.   This card starts with a cardbase of So Saffron with a layer of Bermuda Bay under Whisper White cardstock.  I used the Hello, Lovely stamp set to stamp the amphersign, and thank you greeting.  The arrow is from the same stamp set but I stamped in on a scrap of cardstock and cut it out with paper snips so I could pop it up with dimensionals.  The thank you greeting is matted with Bermuda Bay cardstock and attached with dimensionals. 

I wanted to add something to the top right corner of the card so I used my go to stamp, Gorgeous Grunge to stamp the splatter and strips.  The final touch was to add a few randomly placed rhinestones for a sparkly touch.

This card came together nice and quickly which I love.  It's also nice and mailable which makes it perfect for everyday use and could change up the color combination and greeting for any occasion.

September Just Cards Class

Welcome back and Happy Thursday!  Today I'm so excited to share the cards we'll be making that this months Just Cards class.  The class is this Sunday, September 8 at 2:00 PM.  We'll be making these five wonderful cards (plus there's the Christmas Card option to help get you started on your holiday cards). 

 

There's still time to reserve your spot, just let me know by Friday, September 6.  Also, if you can't make it to class but don't want to miss out on the projects, let me know and you can get the card kit to go so you can make these cards at home when your schedule allows.

August Just Cards Class Projects

Good morning friends!  I'm loving the continued cooler weather we're experiencing this month (very rare for August) so I want to make sure to enjoy it while it lasts (lots of walks/runs outside, working in the garden, and enjoying time with friends and family).  I'm also really excited to share with you the projects for this months Just Cards class which will be this Sunday, August 11 at 2:00 PM.  We'll be making lots of fun card using items from the newly released Holiday catalog as well as all occasion cards.

Fab Friday Sketch Challenge: Million & One

Happy Friday stamping friends!  I'm glad you could stop by this morning, I have a fun card to share with you for this weeks Fab Friday sketch challenge.  This sketch  gives a fun idea to start but really leaves open lots of possibilities.  My cardbase is Raspberry Ripple and I added a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock that was stamped with the Dictionary stamp set in Crumb Cake and sponged around the edge and all over the layer so it's nice and distressed.  To this layer I also added the ampersign from the Hello, Lovely stamp set (this is a great new set that has some great images) stamped in Raspberry Ripple, stamped off once for a lighter effect. 

The greeting is from the new Million & One stamp set and was stamped in Midnight Muse and punched out with the 2 1/2" circle punch, and sponged around the edge with Crumb Cake.  I matted this piece with a flower that was cut with the Big Shot and the Floral Frames Framelits in Summer Starfruit.  I attached this piece to the top of the card and then used the paper trimmer to trim off the top.  For the decorative accent I added a piece of Summer Starfruit Stitched Satin Ribbon, an arrow stamped with the same Hello, Lovely stamp set in Crumb Cake ink and cut out with my Paper Snips.  The flower uses the 7/8" scallop circle punch and the cardstock is Midnight Muse and I crumpled it up to add some texture before adding a Raspberry Ripple Dalia to the center of the flower.

 

I think this card is soft and elegant while being fun and whimsical at the same time, I really like how this turned out.  This layout is great since you could change the colors, elements, and greetings, for any occasion.  You should definitely save this sketch to give you inspiration in the future.
