Sketch Frenzy Friday Sketch Challenge: Best of Greetings

It's Friday and you know what that means?  The weekend is almost here an I'm super excited because I have my first race of the season tomorrow, I've been training hard all winter despite all the crazy cold and snow and tomorrow I'll get to see the results when I run the Rock and Roll Half Marathon in DC, so wish me luck.  Friday's are also exciting since it means another fun sketch challenge over on the Sketch Frenzy Friday blog.  This past weekend we attended a friends wedding and unfortunately I was working on my card at the last minute so I was so excited to use this sketch as the inspiration.  The cardbase is Coastal Cabana and I added a layer of Basic Black cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and the Quatrafancy Embossing Folder.  The Silver Foil Vellum (using the heart images) is a perfect accent for a wedding card and I used a piece of Whisper White cardstock behind the vellum so it really pops against the black.

For the greeting I used the Best of Greetings Stamp Set (remember you can only purchase the stamp sets in the Best of series through March 31 so make sure to get yours before they're gone).  I used the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch to punch the top of the cardstock and then used my Stampin' Write Markers to color in the greeting to add both colors.  A little piece of Coastal Cabana Stretch Ruffled Ribbon along the bottom helps soften the tag and I used some Smoky Slate Chevron Ribbon and Pool Party Baker's Twine (from the Valentine's Treat Bag kits) decorate the top of the tag.  The final touch was to sponge around the edges of the tag with Smoky Slate ink and dimensionals help the greeting pop off the front of the card.

I really liked how this card turned out and you could definitely change up the colors to go along with the wedding colors.  I also love how there isn't a lot of stamping on the card but there are lots of fun papers and accessories that really help dress up the card and help really elevate it.

We would love for you to join us with this sketch challenge and play along, it's so much fun.

Have a great weekend!

Fab Friday Color Challenge: Grateful Sympathy Greetings

Welcome back to the middle of the week!  I have to tell you, with the cooler weather I'm really embracing the fall feelings and loving all the signs of fall.  I decided to embrace fall, with a twist for this weeks Fab Friday Color Challenge.  I started by making this card a Thanksgiving card and pulled out my current fall favorite Truly Grateful stamp set to stamp the wood grain chevron background image and the acorn that I cut out with Paper Snips.  But since I've made a few Thanksgiving cards already I decided to change things up and make this a sympathy card and used the Best of Greetings stamp set for the perfect greeting.  Of course I couldn't not use the awesome Gorgeous Grunge stamp set (have I made you see how amazing this set is with all my recent projects???) to create the Tangerine Tango Lines and Chocolate Chip splotches.

I added a piece of Sweater Weather DSP (this paper has such a unique color combination, one I wouldn't have considered but it really works well) that was matted on Crushed Curry cardstock that was sponged with Chocolate Chip ink, as well as a strip of burlap ribbon that I trimmed off the edges and frayed it.  The greeting is punched out with the Large Oval Punch and matted with a piece punched with the Decorative Label Punch.

I really like how this card turned out and could see this easily being made into a Thanksgiving, birthday, thank you, just about any type of card you need, so fabulous.

Hope you enjoy and happy stamping!
