SSINKspiration Christmas Bags and Tags: Carols of Christmas

Good morning!  How is it possible that Christmas is only 10 days away?  In my house we haven't just been counting down to Christmas, but also the release of the new Star Wars movie and today's the day so we have a fun evening out getting our geek on that I excited about.  Today the SSINKspiration designers are sharing gift bags and tag ideas to help you with all your last minute package needs.  I always hold a holiday gift packaging class earlier in the season to help my customers to be ready and not as stressed.  Today I'm sharing a super fun and easy bag that is sure to match the great gift you'll put inside.

I started with a kraft gift bag (not Stampin' Up!) and used the Snowflake Sentiments stamp set and Whisper White Craft Ink to stamp the snowflakes all over the front of the bag.  Next I took a Striped Treat Bag and took it apart and used just the front of the bag as the base decoration (and it adds my first layer of bling!)  I layered a piece of Merry Music Speciality Designer Series Paper over the top (I love the prints in this package as the musical theme is perfect for the holidays).

The greeting is from the Carols of Christmas stamp set and was stamped with Basic Black ink on Whisper White cardstock before being cut out with the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits.  I used the Layering Circles Framelits to cut out the scalloped circle mat using Cherry Cobbler cardstock and then attached the piece to the gift bag with dimensionals.  To add a little more sparkle I added a couple of Black Rhinestones and a Gold Metallic Enamel Dot.

As the final touch for the bag I dies a bow using the 7/8" Striped Ribbon and then took one of the Green Sprigs and applied Embossing Paste lightly on the tips to flock it and then once it was dry (didn't take very long) I pushed the stem into the center of the bow and it holds it just right!

This bag looks really detailed because of the all the embellishments but is really easy to make (just make sure leave time to let the craft ink dry completely).  I'm hoping to make a few more of these for gifts I need to give so we will see how I do for time.

SSINKspiration Favorite Holiday Catalog Suite: Merry Little Christmas

Good morning!  I love Fridays because that means the weekend is almost here and today I have the day off and am starting my weekend long crafting getway with a friend so I'm even more excited to get the creative juices flowing.  I know Christmas projects will definitely be on my list so today's card fits perfectly.  Today the SSINKspiration designers are sharing projects using their favorite Holiday Catalog Suites, and one of mine is Merry Little Christmas.  This is the first mega product suite Stampin' Up! has offered and it is jammed pack with products that are perfect for all your holiday crafting. I also decided to use the Paper Players sketch challenge for this week for double the fun!

I started with Old Olive cardstock for the cardbase and then added  a piece of Early Espresso cardstock as a mat for the Cherry Cobbler cardfront.  I embossed the Cherry Cobbler piece with the Big Shot and Cable Knit Dynamic Embossing Folder.  Next I made a flag using the Merry Music Speciality Designer Series Paper (I love this paper!!).

For the main stamped image I used the Carols of Christmas stamp set and colored the greeting with Stampin' Write Markers before stamping on Whisper White cardstock.  I matte this piece with Early Espresso cardstock and attached it to the cardfront with dimensionals.  Now for the fun elements I used the coordinating Cardfront Builder Framelits to cut out a single tree using Old Olive cardstock and the deer out of Early Espresso cardstock.  To add a little fun snow to the tree I used some Embossing Paste and lightly rubbed on the edges for the snow fall look.  Both of the cut out pieces were attached with dimensionals.

I really love this suite and adding the cable knit embossing, it makes me feel all warm and cozy!  Make sure to check out the other cards the design team is sharing for additional inspiration.

SSINKspiration CASE the Designer: It's Me!!

Good morning!  Today on the SSINKspiration blog it's time for another round of CASE the designer and this month the designer is ME!!!  It's so fun to see what cards other designers pick and what they do with their own creation based on my inspiration.  Of course I had to play along in the fun and cased myself.  I just randomly flipped through my blog and landed on this card HERE that I made this spring for a wedding and decided that it would be the perfect inspiration for a Christmas card.

I started with Cherry Cobbler cardstock and then added a piece of Merry Music Speciality Designer Series Paper for the cardfront. Next I added a gold Foil Snowflake as an accent behind my greeting.

The greeting comes from the Carols of Christmas stamp set and was stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink on Whisper White cardstock and then cut out with the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits dies before being attached to the card with dimensionals.  The final touch was a bow I tied with Gold 1/8" Ribbon which adds just a little extra sparkle.

 Here's the original card

This is a great layout since it's really quick and easy and lets you use a couple of fun embellishments as a perfect way to dress it up.  It's also a great layout if you have to make lots of the same card, you can be finished in a flash but still impress!

Cozy Carols of Christmas Wishes

Happy Wednesday!  Just a little over a week before the Holiday catalog is officially released (you should be receiving it in your mailbox soon if not already and I'm sure you will love it as much as I do).  Today I'm sharing another card using the new Carols of Christmas bundle that while in the Holiday catalog it's been released early and you can order it now and get started on all those holiday cards!

I started with Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardbase and then added a layer of Garden Green cardstock as a mat for the Cherry Cobbler cardfront.  The Cherry Cobbler piece was embossed with the Big Shot and the Cable Knit Dynamic Embossing Folder (this sweater pattern screams winter!)

Next I used the Carols of Christmas stamp set and used Stampin' Write markers to color in the greeting before stamping on Whisper White cardstock.  The greeting piece was matted with Early Espresso cardstock before being attached with dimensionals.  I cut the cute trees with the coordinating Card Front Builder Thinlits using Garden Green cardstock and then added some Dazzling Diamonds glitter for snow.

The final touch, a little holly that was stamped and then cut out with the thinlits.  I added three small pearls to the center of the holly.  To color the holly I used a red Sharpie and then went over it lightly with a Copper Sharpie to make it match closer to the Cherry Cobbler color (worked great!)

This is another nice and flat card that has a lot of elements to dress it up but is mailable to help the post office.  And that sweater embossing, makes you just want to touch it (love it!!)
