Fab Friday Color Challenge #FabFri150: Country Home

Good afternoon!  Well this snowy day is definitely a change from our usual November weather (trust me, Aidan is very excited for the snow day and being off from school).  Today I'm playing along with the Fab Friday color challenge to make another Thanksgiving card (slowing widdling away on my To Do list).  I decided to go with another coloring card so I could use my Stampin' Blends and did add a couple of extra colors to fill out my floral arrangement but think it works.

I started with Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Tranquil Tide cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and Tin Tile Dynamic Embossing Folder (I did lightly sponge with the Crumb Cake ink to distress it a little).  Next I added a piece of Country Lane Designer Series Paper and wrapped some Mint Macaron Twine from the Nature's Twine package.

For the main stamped image I stamped the milk bucket and flowers from the Country Home stamp set using Momento Black ink on Whisper White and then colored it in with my Stampin' Blends, and Stampin' Write Marker (for the Mint Macaron leaves).  Tip:  to help get the lighter effect on the bucket, after coloring it with the light and dark Smoky Slate Blend's I went over parts of it with the Color Lifter Blends to lighten just where I wanted, love this effect!  Once I was done coloring I attached the stamped piece with dimensionals.  The greeting is from the same stamp set and was stamped in Cajun Craze ink on Crumb Cake cardstock and then cut out with the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits and attached with dimensionals.

I have to say, I can't get over how relaxing coloring is (no wonder kids enjoy it so much, we all should get back to the simple things) and the blends make it easy to create a pretty watercolor look, even if you don't have the skills.

Buffalo Check Embossed Background: Rooted in Nature

Good afternoon!  Today I'm continuing to share ideas using the fabulous Buffalo Check stamp set and after yesterday where we stamped snowflakes on top of the check I was trying to figure out what else we could do, so I thought, how about embossing?  I also decided to take a bit more organic look and feel to the card and absolutely love the end result.

For this card I used Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardbase and then added Tranquil Tide cardstock as the mat for the cardfront.  To make the cardfront I started with Mint Macaron cardstock and stamped with the Buffalo Check stamp set using Tranquil Tide ink.  Next I used the Big Shot and Swirls and Curls Embossing Folder to emboss the cardfront and sponged using Crumb Cake ink to help distress the image and make the swirls really pop.  The designer series paper is from the Nature's Poem DSP package and I lightly sponged on it as well with Crumb Cake ink to "dirty it up" and then wrapped a piece of Tranquil Tide 3/8" Mini Ruffled Ribbon to hide the border.

For the stamped image I used the Rooted in Nature stamp set and stamped the large stump image on Crumb Cake cardstock with Crumb cake ink and then cut it out freehand with my Paper Snips.  The greeting is from the same stamp set and was stamped in Rich Razzleberry ink and accented with several pearls I lined up in a row.  I used the leaf dies (both cutting and embossing) from the Nature's Roots Framelits to cut the leaf out of Rich Razzleberry cardstock and sponged it before attaching it behind the greeting which was raised up with dimensionals.

This card has the perfect mix of colors and textures to make you want to touch each element (and it's still super flat and mailable, bonus!)  I have so say, if I haven't convinced you of how awesome the Buffalo Check stamp set is there may be nothing that will convince you, but you will regret not having it in your stampin' stash so don't wait to place your order!!

Fab Friday Color Challenge FabFri138: Stitched All Around

Good morning!  Today I'm playing along with the Fab Friday color challenge to show off a great new bundle in the annual catalog, it's the Stitched All Around stamp set and coordinating Stitched Labels Framelits.

I started with Powder Pink cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Melon Mambo cardstock as a mat for the cardfront that is Crumb Cake.  On the cardfront I stamped using the Burlap stamp set using Crumb Cake ink (and stamped off once so it was a little lighter).

For the main stamped image I stamped the greeting in Melon Mambo ink on Whisper White cardstock and then cut it out with the Big Shot and Stitched Labels Framelits and then sponged around the edge with Powder Pink ink.

For the additional decorative elements I punched out a piece of Melon Mambo cardstock with the Starburst Punch and then embossed it with the Big Shot and Petal Pair Embossing Folder (these embossing folders are great for embossing little elements that you add to your card).  Then I took a piece of Flirty Flamingo cardstock and cut out an oval using the Big Shot and Layering Ovals Framelits and then used one of the debossing elements from the Stitched Labels Framelits set for the fun textural element.

After attaching all the pieces to the cardfront, and I did use dimensionals for the greeting I finished off the card with a bow tied with Whisper White 1/8" Sheer Ribbon that I had colored with my Powder Pink Stampin' Write Marker.

I love how all the different shapes, textures, and colors play off each other for some fun design elements that really draw your eye to each piece.  And a great thing about this saying is that you could use it for different occasions, birthday, graduation, weddings, anything you want to celebrate so you'll get a lot of use out of it.  Also don't forget when you buy the stamp set and framelits as a bundle you save 10%!

SSINKspiration Kid's Cards: Icing on the Cake

Good morning!  Birthday's are a happy occasion we all get to celebrate and no one is more excited about birthdays but kids (although I may be a close second).  Today the SSINKspiration designers are sharing card for kid's so of course I went with a birthday card.  The Icing on the Cake stamp set is lots of fun (especially since cake is one of my favorite treats) and it's easy to build designs using this set since it's photopolymer.  A lot of the samples I've seen with this set definitely lean towards the more feminine so I decided to change things up and go with more of a guy card since guys like birthday cake as well.

I started with Dapper Denim cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Tangerine Tango cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and Oh My Stars Embossing Folder.

For the stamped image I used Whisper White cardstock and started by stamping the "Happy Birthday" and then built the rest of the design using Tangerine Tango, Lemon Lime Twist and Dapper Denim ink.  Once I was finished I matted the piece with Lemon Lime Twist cardstock and then attached it to the cardfront.

To finish off the card I took a piece of Silver Foil cardstock and embossed it with the Big Shot and the Hexagons Dynamic Embossing Folder and then added a bow tied with Dapper Denim Baker's Twine (retiring).

This card looks yummy enough to eat and I was so happy this stamp set will be in the next year's catalog so I can continue making delicious cards good enough to eat, haha!
