SSINKspiration Kid's Cards: Icing on the Cake

Good morning!  Birthday's are a happy occasion we all get to celebrate and no one is more excited about birthdays but kids (although I may be a close second).  Today the SSINKspiration designers are sharing card for kid's so of course I went with a birthday card.  The Icing on the Cake stamp set is lots of fun (especially since cake is one of my favorite treats) and it's easy to build designs using this set since it's photopolymer.  A lot of the samples I've seen with this set definitely lean towards the more feminine so I decided to change things up and go with more of a guy card since guys like birthday cake as well.

I started with Dapper Denim cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Tangerine Tango cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and Oh My Stars Embossing Folder.

For the stamped image I used Whisper White cardstock and started by stamping the "Happy Birthday" and then built the rest of the design using Tangerine Tango, Lemon Lime Twist and Dapper Denim ink.  Once I was finished I matted the piece with Lemon Lime Twist cardstock and then attached it to the cardfront.

To finish off the card I took a piece of Silver Foil cardstock and embossed it with the Big Shot and the Hexagons Dynamic Embossing Folder and then added a bow tied with Dapper Denim Baker's Twine (retiring).

This card looks yummy enough to eat and I was so happy this stamp set will be in the next year's catalog so I can continue making delicious cards good enough to eat, haha!

SSINKspiration Mother's Day: You're Inspiring

Happy Friday!  I'm so happy it's almost the weekend, with all the pollen and allergy issues this week I'm looking forward to a little downtime and rest.  Of course this weekend it's also about celebrating all our mom's.  Today the  SSINKspiration team are sharing some card ideas in case you're still looking for that perfect card for mom.  Even though with the crazy pollen I still love flowers so I decided to make a garden of flowers for mom that are totally pollen free.

I started with Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Berry Burst cardstock as a mat for the cardfront that's Powder Pink designer series paper from the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper (retiring).

For the main stamped image I used the You're Inspiring stamp set and stamped the small tulip image across a piece of Whisper White cardstock using Versamark ink and then heat embossed it using the Heat Tool and White Embossing Powder.  Next I used sponge daubers and slowly started building an ombre look over the tulips.  Once I was finished I added a piece of Soft Suede cardstock for a mat and attached it to the cardfront.

To finish the card off I added the greeting which was stamped in Soft Suede ink on Crumb Cake cardstock and then cut it out with the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits.  I added a piece of Delicate White Doily (retiring) to just peak out of the bottom and then attached it to the card with dimensionals.  A double bow tied with Old Olive Baker's Twine (retiring) was the perfect final touch.

I love the look of this coloring, the emboss resist is what we used at last weekend's Kid's card class and I loved seeing how many different looks you can get with the same colors and sponge dauber.  You still have time to make the perfect card for your mom, so make it special!

Fab Friday Color Challenge FabFri136: Marquee Messages

Good morning!  I seem to be having a lot of birthday's this time of year so I'm in constant need of birthday cards.  It was the need for one of these cards that provided the inspiration for today's card that uses the Fab Friday color challenge.  I also wanted to get some more time playing with some items that are retiring before they go away, one of those is the Marquee Messages stamp set, it's got some great bold sayings and it's lots of fun to bling up.

For this card I started with Basic Gray cardstock for the cardbase and then used a piece of designer series paper from the Tutti-Fruitti Designer Series Paper (retiring).  The main stamped image was stamped with Basic Black ink on Whisper White cardstock and then I used by Smoky Slate and Bermuda Bay Stampin' Blends to color the image, as well as a Lemon Lime Twist Stampin' Write Marker for the little "lights" and then I went over the lights with the Clear Wink of Stella.  Before attaching this piece to the cardfront I matted it with Basic Gray cardstock.

The final touch is the "party like a rock star" greeting (from the same stamp set) and was stamped in Basic Black ink on Basic Gray cardstock and then cut out with the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits and attached with dimensionals.  The final touch is a double bow tied with Whisper White Baker's Twine.

These colors are the perfect combination with the fun look of this stamp set and will help celebrate a  birthday to a tee.  I don't believe I've used this color combination before but will definitely be using it again.

Hand Stamped Sentiments Inspiration Challenge SC 289: Love What You Do

Good morning!  Today the Hand Stamp Sentiments team has a great sketch challenge that you will surely want to play with.  I decided to use lots of product's from the Share What you Love product suite, which will be in the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog but we have a chance to order different bundles of these products early to get a head start on the fun (with these bundles you'll also get your hands on some of the new and returning colors that are part of this years Color Revamp (so excited about this.

For this card I started with Mint Macaron cardstock for the cardbase (so happy this is returning) and then added a piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and Petal Burst Embossing Folder.  Next I added a strip of DSP from the new Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper (this package is huge and has some amazing prints).

For the stamped image I used the Love What You Do stamp set and stamped the watercolor wash stamp in Old Olive on Whisper White cardstock.  The flower outline is Basic Black and then I used Rich Razzleberry and Blackberry Bliss (returning color) that was stamped off for the flowers.  I inked up the edge of my clear block to stamp around the edge of the cardstock for a fun effect (honestly, I had some ink on my block edge when I stamped one of the flowers so then I just went with it and added more so it looked lit it was done on purpose instead of redoing the piece, flaws are just a way to make it unique right?)

The greeting is from the same stamp set and was stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink on Crumb Cake cardstock and then cut out with the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits before attaching it with dimensionals.  To finish of the card I added a colored pearl from the Share What you Love Artisan Pearls (also available this month as part of the bundles) and then a double bow tied with Whisper White Baker's Twine.

I love the color combination of this card and the watercolor look with the flowers, and given how bad my allergies are right now because of the pollen this is about as close as I should be to flowers right about now, haha!  Make sure to check out the cards the other design team members are sharing and then we would love for you to play along with us and share what you create!
