30 Day Gratitude Challenge: Day 2 (Paper Players Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge)

Good morning!  For today's gratitude card I decided to have a little fun and play along with the Paper Players Tic-Tac-Toe challenge.  I'll admit, this one stumped me a little bit and then I remembered the Christmas Staircase Thinlits I used this weekend to make a Christmas tree on a scrapbook page I made so I thought about trying to take some of the die cut pieces to make a wreath, haha so excited with that!!

I started with Garden Green cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of DSP from the Merry Music Speciality Designer Series Paper package for a great neutral cardfront.  The greeting is from the Wood Words stamp set and was stamped in Garden Green ink on Whisper White cardstock and punched out with the 1" Circle Punch.  I used the 1 1/4" Circle Punch for the mat using Cherry Cobbler cardstock and used a dimensional to attach the greeting to the cardfront.

Now for the centerpiece of the card....I used the Big Shot and Christmas Staircase Thinlits to cut several pieces of greenery (I believe I used 8-9 pieces but play around with it for the thickness of the wreath you prefer) out of Garden Green cardstock.  I started by laying them out in a circle before gluing to make sure I had enough and to know what size of background I would need.

Next I started gluing the pieces onto Whisper White cardstock using my Fine Tip Glue pen to only add glue to the bottom of the greenery so I could fluff up the branches.  Once I was finished with the wreath I added a bow tied with Cherry Cobbler 1/4" Double Stitched Ribbon.  To dress things up a little I went over all the greenery pieces with my Clear Wink of Stella Pen to add a little sparkle (you can see it better in this closeup).  The final touch was to mat the piece with Cherry Cobbler cardstock and attach it to the cardfront.

Here's the challenge that we were given, so many options.

I really love how this card turned out, it has a ton of texture but will still lay nice and flat for mailing which is perfect for Christmas greetings which often get mailed.  I work hard to make my Christmas thank you's before the business of the holiday season so there is no reason
not to send thank you notes for all the thoughtful gifts you receive during the holidays.

4th of July Treats: Wood Words

Happy Independence Day!  As you know I love most holidays but the 4th of July is one of my favorites as it's always been a time to spend with family and appreciate all the freedoms we have and those who have given so much to provide those freedoms, it's not to be taken for granted.  Even though Aidan's getting older he still likes to get little treats for the holidays so this time I decided to use the new Wood Words Bundle to make this cute patriotic crate filled with tasty treats.

You could easily make this crate using the coordinating woodgrain designer series paper but I wanted a different feel for mine so I used the Whisper White Thick cardstock, Big Shot, and Wood Crate Framelits to cut it out (the thick cardstock gives the crate a little more strength).  Next I used the Woodgrain stamp set and stamped it using Sahara Sand ink (I stamped off one so it was a little lighter).  Then I used the star from the Wood Words stamp set and stamped using Real Red and Pacific Point ink.

I found these great Red, White, and Blue candies and filled a 3"x6" gusseted bag (this bag holds a lot of candy!) and then tied the top using some Pacific Point 1/4" Stitched Edge Ribbon.  The tag was cut out with a die from the same stamp set and was then stamped using the Tabs for Everything stamp set and tied the tag to the treat using some Whisper White Baker's Twine.

This treat is so cute and definitely has the patriotic feeling I was going for (and who doesn't like chocolate?)

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Color Challenge SSINKCC46: Lovely Inside & Out

Good morning!  It was another wild and crazy  weekend and I had fun with just a mom/son weekend while hubby was out camping.  Because we were on the go I didn't get as much stamping time as I would have liked but I knew I had to play along with this months color sketch over on the SSINKspiration blog since it combines one of the new 2017-2019 In Colors with a couple of classics.  I also decided to play with some fun new items as well, yeah!

I started with Pear Pizzaz cardstock for the cardbase and then stamped with the Hardwood background stamp and Crumb Cake ink (I stamped off first to lighten up the image).  Next I took a piece of Whisper White cardstock and used the Big Shot and new Lovely Words Thinlits to cut out the "friend" window.  These new thinlits are great, not only can you cut out and use jus the words but they also fit in our other framelits for lots of options.

Next I took the Wood Words stamp set and stamped the floral image a few times using Berry Burst ink ad then colored in some of the flowers with the Daffodil Delight watercolor pencil and blender pen and the leaves with the Pear Pizzaz Stampin' Write marker.

For the thanks I used the Lovely Inside and Out stamp set (it coordinates and is a bundle with the Lovely Words Thinlits so you save 10% when you buy both) and stamped using Berry Burst ink on Daffodil delight ink before punching it out with the Classic Label Punch.  It may be hard to see but then I cut a little piece of a White Doily and tucked it under the Whisper White layer so it just peaks out from below where the thanks is.  The final touch was to tie a tiny bow using the 1/4" Copper Trim and attached it with a glue dot (this ribbon is so amazing since you can keep it thin or you can fan it out like I did for a softer look and it holds the shapes (I know this ribbon is on backorder right now but order it now so you get in line and will get yours as soon as the next shipment arrives, you'll want to use it all year long!)  To finish the card I attached the entire cardfront to the cardbase with dimensionals so it pops up and has some extra depth.

This card has a fun mix of floral and texture that is really on trend right now and the burst of colors are sure to brighten anyone's day.  Make sure to check out the other design teams cards using the same color sketch and then we would love for you to play along and share what you create.
