Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration February Blog Hop: Hearts, Hearts, Everywhere!

Happy Thursday, it’s time for this months Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspiration blog hop and with this time of year it’s only fitting that this months theme is all about hearts!  I know there are people out there who are still either looking for the perfect gift for their loved one or haven’t even started looking so this hop is perfect as we’re giving you lots of fabulous ideas and you have plenty of time (Valentine’s Day is this Saturday, just in case you forgot, haha!!!)

As you hop along, please be sure to comment and show some love on every blog! We are always excited to hear from our followers! You should have just left stop number (3) on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Blog Hop - (Laura at Crafty Chicks Creating). If so, you are in the right spot. If a link doesn't work or you get off track, you will find the full blog hop lineup below.

The first project I have for you is a card that uses two sets, Groovy Love, and That’s the Ticket, these sets are both in the Idea Book so you may have overlooked them with all the Occasions catalog excited.  I started with Soft Suede for the cardbase and then added a piece of Whisper White cardstock that I used the Hearts and Stars Masks and Real Red ink to sponge the hearts on the cardstock.  Next I added a couple of flags using the Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper.  For the heart I started by stamping the outline heart from the Groovy Love stamp set with Versamark Ink on Brushed Gold Cardstock and then heat embossed it with the Heat Tool and Black Embossing Powder and then punched it out with the 2” Circle Punch.  The heart is from the same stamp set and was stamped on Calypso Coral cardstock with Memento Ink (you could also heat emboss this if you wanted) and punched it out with the Sweetheart Punch and attached it to the circle with dimensionals.  A double bow tied with Basic Black Baker’s Twine is a perfect accent.

The greeting is from the That’s the Ticket stamp set and was stamped with Memento Ink on Soft Suede cardstock and then punched out with the Ticket Builder Punch.  Of course I needed an extra shot of bling so I added a small heart that was punched out of Gold Glimmer Paper using the punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack and attached it with dimensionals

You know how much fun I have with gifts so I had to make a cute little container for Aidan’s Valentine’s Treats.  I started with the Hamburger Bigz Die and my Big Shot which made this box super easy.  I used Tombow Liquid glue on all the corners to make the box hold it’s shape.  Next I added a piece of DSP once again using the Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack and then tied a bow around the box using some Silver Satin Ribbon.  The tag for the box is uses the Groovy Love set again for the heart (stamped this time in Basic Gray ink) and the greeting is from the Snuggles and Smootches Photopolyer stamp set.  I tied the whole tag around my ribbon using some more of the Basic Black Baker’s Twine.

These projects turned out so cute and I’m still having so much fun playing with all the great love and heart themed products we have but I’m going to have move on soon (until I start thinking about anniversaries).

Halloween Convention Swaps, Cards and 3D Fun!

Happy Friday!  This morning I got up early to get my run in before our morning General session, since we have a full day ahead of us, had to get that workout in early.  For this share I have two Halloween projects, a card and a 3D item.  So I was a little thrown off when the new catalog was released since there were no holiday stamps in the catalog.  This made me really think outside of the box and I decided to use the Mosaic Madness stamp set along with the That's the Ticket stamp set.  I'm loving the Quatrafancy Embossing folder and the new Chevron Ribbon (I used Smoky Slate and Pumpkin Pie and it's beautiful, so soft!)  Lot's of sponging helped soften all the layers.

My second project is a fun little treat holder that uses the Milk Carton Bigz die as the base and then I created a cute lid with a scalloped trim (it's also embossed with the Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder).  The stamp set I used is the Bootiful Occasions stamp set and I stamped and colored in the book (matted on an oval cut out with the Oval Collections Framelits).  I used the Perfect Polka Dot DSP for the Pumpkin Pie DSP layer.

Here's a close up of the greeting.  It's punched out with the oval punch and then matted with the scallop oval punch and attached with the Whisper White Baker's Twine.  These projects are so fun, it's really getting me in the holiday spirit and I can't wait to get some of the new Halloween products from this years Holiday catalog so I can create even more fabulous projects.

You could definitely change the colors, and stamp set to make these projects perfect for any occasion!

Enjoy,

Feeling Sentimental, Only Two More Days of Sale-a-Bration, Don't Miss Out!

Today I want to share with you another project I made with lots of different Sale-a-bration items since there are only two more days in this promotion and I want to make sure you don't miss out, you'll definitely want to add these items to your crafting toolbox.  This card uses my favorite SAB stamp set, Feeling Sentimental, the images are so soft and charming.  I also used the Sycamore Street DSP and coordinating Sycamore Street Ribbon and Button pack.  The colors in these images are so fabulous, works equally well with masculine and feminine projects, AWESOME!  I used the Ovals Collection Framelits to cut out and mat the images and Island Indigo Baker's Twine to tie a bow in the button.

Since I used the Ferris wheel image I immediately thought about circus tickets that you use to purchase rides and used one of the images from the That's the Ticket stamp set (stamped it on Tangerine Tango so it looked like an actual ticket) and then punched it out with the Ticket Duo punch.  A small metallic brad made attaching the ticket a snap.

This card just makes me smile and I know that the person who receives it will enjoy it just as much.  Make sure to let me know if you need to place an order so we can make sure to get it place before Sale-a-bration ends!

Enjoy,

Stylin' Stampin' Blog Hop: Fabric Madness!!

Good morning and welcome to another additional of Stylin’ Stampin’ Squad Blog Hop.  This month we’re featuring fun projects using Stampin’ Up! fabric.  Fabric is a great way to add texture and dimension to a project and even if you’re not a sewer (like me) you’ll still enjoy crafting with it and I love all the great patterns SU offers.  You may be joining me from Bree’s blog, doesn’t she do fabulous work?  If you’re just starting hear, don’t fear you can continue around and not miss any of the fabulous projects.
The first project I’m sharing with you is a card that uses two different fabric patterns from the More Amore fabric package in the Spring catalog. I started by using my Big Shot to cut out the large scalloped heart with the Hearts Collection framelits and used the heart fabric.  I will warn you when you’re using the fabric you’re going to have to add an extra shim or two to cut through the fabric.  Since this heart is so big I ended up making a 6x6 card by taking a 6x12 piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and folding it in half.  I sponged around the edge with Crumb Cake ink to soften the edges (I love doing this and added this to every element on this card).  Next I took a piece of Pool Party Coredinations cardstock and ran it through the Big Shot with the Chevron embossing folder and lightly sanded to highlight the pattern.  Next I added a strip of fabric with the small print and hearts and just used sticky strip down the edge and then ruffled the fabric as I go.  I just like to tear the fabric when I’m using it on cards so it has frayed edges so I don’t have to worry about cutting straight and it adds texture.  Next I added the fabric heart and then layered it with a heart cut with the same framelits and First Edition Specialty DSP (crumpled the heart and distressed it with Crumb Cake ink and sponged with Primrose Petals ink around the edges.  I also spritzed the heart with Champagne shimmer mist I made so it lightly sparkles (hard to tell from the picture).  Next I cut a Crumb Cake heart out with the Scalloped Heart of Hearts embosslit.

The greeting is from the newly released Best of Love stamp set, it’s so fun seeing what stamp images SU chooses to pull from the archives for us to use again and was stamped with Real Red ink on Primrose petals cardstock.  I was able to punch the greeting out with the Full Heart punch and used dimensionals to make the greeting pop.

Now this card is way too big to fit our standard envelopes so I made one to fit using the More Amore Speciality DSP, the Simply Scored, and the Diagonal Scoring Plate (so easy!).  To decorate the envelope I added another strip of the More Amore Fabric as well as two of the scallop laser cut hearts from the DSP package and cut out coordinating hearts with the hearts framelits and DSP.

This card is so lovely I can’t wait to give it for valentine’s, do you think it’s a little too girly for my hubby???

I do have one more project to share with you, I decided to take two of the large scalloped hearts cut with the same fabric and made a little pillow.  I added a lot of the same elements so that it coordinates with the card.  The key was to fully decorate the top heart before sewing and stuffing it so that the brads, etc. could all be pushed through the fabric so they’ll stay in place.  I added another heart with the First Edition DSP that was distressed the same way as the card and added a piece of Victorian Trim and Primrose Petals Stitched Satin ribbon that were each ruffled.  Next I added a bow made with the Pool Party satin ribbon (that’s free during SAB) with an Antique Brad in the center.

In the top corner I added two tickets from the That’s the Ticket stamp set that were punched out with the Ticket Duo punch (each ticket was also sponged with Crumb Cake ink) and attached with the heart with a 3/16” Metallic Brad.  The final touch was to add a Pool Party Button (also free during SAB, along with the ribbon) and tied a bow with linen thread before attaching it with a glue dot.

This pillow came out just as I pictured, nice and soft and very girly, love it!!!  Hope you enjoyed this month’s project and make sure to check out all the rest of the fabulously creative people on the hop, you’ll have lots of ideas on how to use fabric on your next project.  Click the link below to see Darcy's projects.

Vintage Hearts Send Loving Greetings

I'm back and I have to say I'm having an absolutely amazing time!  Last night was the pajama party and it was so fun hanging out with the ladies in our pj's and partying the night away.  I'm back with another card I made for a swap.  This was for an organized valentine swap and I definitely wanted something soft and girly.  I embossed the Crumb cake layer with the Lacy Brocade embossing folder and then used a sponge dauber to add Whisper White craft ink to help make the embossed image "pop".  The ribbon flag is this fabulous new 1 1/4" two-toned pink ribbon and I used a strip of sticky strip to help hold the pleats.  Next I cut out hearts with the Hearts collection framelits and crumpled up the black heart and then spritzed it with the champagne shimmer mist I made and crumbled up the heart cut with the First edition DSP and then sponged it with Crumb Cake ink.  The pink heart was cut and embossed from the scalloped heart embosslit and I sponged on Rose Red ink.  The final touch was to add the greeting from the That's the Ticket stamp set and I heat embossed it with black embossing power, Versamark, and the heat gun.  The card was assembled with a ton of dimensionals so it has lots of texture and dimension.

This was the second design for this card swap and I have to admit I LOVE IT!  We'll actually be making this card at this months Just Cards class so you won't want to miss out.

I'm heading home today and while I'm having a great time I can't wait to get home and see my boys, miss them a ton.

Enjoy,

Stylin' Stampin' Squad Blog Hop: New Spring "Mini" Catalog

Good morning friends!  Today is the start of the Stylin' Stampin' Blog Hop and I'm so excited to join this great group of creative individuals.  If you just joined me from Bree's blog didn't she make a fabulous heart wreath, love it!  This months hop is focusing on the Spring Catalog, which is jam packed with lots of fun, fresh items.  My projects this month are for Valentine's Day and are so sweet.  This card starts with a Very Vanilla cardbase that I sponged around the edge with Crumb Cake ink.  Next I took a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock and embossed it with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.  I used the negative image from a piece cut out with the Apothocary Accents framelits to create a frame and sponged inside with Real Red ink so you just get the colored shape and then used the paper piercer and templates to paper pierce around the shape.

For the heart elements I used the Hearts Collection Framelits to cut out the Basic Black Heart (that was crumpled up and then spritzed with Champagne shimmer mist) and the Real Red heart that I embossed with the new Hexagon embossing folder (this folder is AWESOME!).  I used the new Real Red Core'dinations cardstock so when I sanded the embossed piece you get a two-toned design.  I even cut some hexagons with the More Amore' Speciality DSP to highlight the hexagon design.  The Pool Party button is from one of the Sale-a-bration items that you can earn for FREE in a couple of weeks and the bow is Linen Thread.

For the greeting I used the That's the Ticket stamp set and stamped with Versamark ink on Pool Party cardstock and then heat embossed with Black embossing powder.  The Ticket Duo punch punches these images out so quickly and I just used dimensionals so the greeting stood out against all the hearts.  This card is so fun I love all the texture and different elements that catch your attention.

The second project I would like to share with you is a decorated frame.  Each year I like to make a new decor item and since I love to take pictures this was easy.  Several months ago Robin Merriman showed these great fall frames by decorating unfinished wood frames, she Robin's frame HERE.  I made several of the fall frames like Robin's that everyone loved, so when I was shopping the day after Christmas at one of my local craft stores I found this valentine frame and knew it would be perfect.  I used the same Real Red Core'dination cardstock and embossed it with the Hexagon embossing folder before sanding.  I used the More Amore Speciality DSP for the ruffled DSP along the bottom with the Pool Party Ruffled Ribbon and a Red Glimmer brad in the center of the bow.  The letters are Silver Glimmer paper and cut out with the Big Shot and the new Typeset Alphabet Bigz Die.

I used one of the lasercut hearts from the same DSP pack and then cut several hearts out of that DSP and First Edition DSP with the Large Heart Punch and the Hearts a Flutter stamp set and Framelits (all the pieces were crumpled and sponged with Pool Party ink.  I even added a Real Red glimmer heart punched with the small heart punch.  The heart in the top left corner used the same stamp set and framelits and is accented with the Real Red button and Linen Thread.  This frame is so fun and fits perfectly with the other valentine's decorations on my mantel.

I hope you enjoyed this month's projects and they've inspired you to create your own items, trust me there's something in the Spring catalog for everyone's taste.
