Surprise Baby Show for Tobe: Something for Baby

Good morning!  It's time for a little fun today.  Recently one of the SSINKspiration design team members, Tobe Buffenbarger, had a new baby so today we decided to throw her a surprise virtual baby shower to welcome the arrival of her new son.  I made two projects I'm sharing today a card as well as a coordinating framed décor piece.

For the card I started with Smoky Slate cardstock for the cardbase.  Next I took a piece of Whisper White cardstock for the cardfront and matted it with Basic Black cardstock.  The greeting is from the Better Together stamp set and was stamped directly on the cardfront.  I added a piece of Smoky Slate designer series paper from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack and matted it with Basic Black cardstock.

The cute little onesy is from the Something for Baby stamp set and was stamped in Marina Mist ink and then cut out with the coordinating Baby's First Framelits and attached to the cardfront with dimensionals.  I wanted to dress up the onesy a little so I added a little star I punched out of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.  The final touch was to add a double bow tied with Basic Black Baker's Twine.

Of course I had to make a coordinating framed décor piece that would be perfect in the nursery.  The base is Marina Mist cardstock and I embossed it with the Big Shot and Lucky Stars Embosing Folder.  Next I added a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock behind the Whisper White layer.  The greeting on this is from the Friendly Wishes stamp set and was stamped in Basic Black ink.  Next I took a piece of Whisper White 5/8" Organza Ribbon and dyed it using a sponge dauber and Marina Mist ink (make sure to set it aside to dry).  Once the ribbon was dry I attached it the cardstock and then tied a bow using the same Basic Black Baker's Twine from the card.

All of the images, baby buggy, rubber duck, and toy top are from the Something for Baby stamp set and all have coordinating framelits to make cutting them out easy.  I did add a rhinestone to the eye of the rubber duck for a little bling.

I had lots of fun making these projects and they're already in the mail on their way to Tobe, I hope she enjoys them and is getting some much needed rest while cuddling with her cute little one.  Make sure to go check out all the other projects the SSINKspiration design team members are sharing to help shower Tobe with congratulatory baby well wishes.

Fab Friday Color Challenge 90: Friendly Wishes

Good morning!  One of my favorite things about short holiday weeks is that we're already at the halfway point of the week, feeling kind of tired after all this weekends fun (I'm sure you can understand).  Today I decided to play along with this weeks Fab Friday color challenge.  I love all these bright colors individually but will admit I haven't tried all four together before.  I decided to change things up and go with a very geometric card.

I started with Tempting Turquoise cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Night of Navy cardstock for the cardfront and embossed it with the Big Shot and Polka Dot Embossing Folder.  Next I used the Big Shot and Layering Squares Framelits to cut two larger squares using Real Red and Pacific Point cardstock.  I used some Brights Designer Series Paper and smaller square framelits to cut out squares using the Real Red and Tempting Turquoise DSP.

For the Pacific Point square I embossed it using the Big Shot and Lovely Lace Embossing Folder before starting to layer the squares.  For the greeting I used the Friendly Wishes stamp set and stamped using Night of Navy ink directly on the Real Red square.  I attached all the squares to the cardfront and used dimensionals just on the smallest square so it pops up.  I want to add a little bling (come on, you're surprised??) so I turned to the Metallic Enamel Shapes and added two of the stars which was just what I needed.

I know this is definitely not my normally style but I really like how this turned out and it's a great way to show off all these colors and how they work together, go figure!  That's one of the reasons I love participating in these challenges, it helps me try new things, you never know what you may like but don't know it yet.

Sketch Frenzy Friday Sketch Challenge and SSINK Friday Favorites: Friendly Wishes

Happy Friday!  It’s the last day of July, can’t believe we’re starting to think about summer winding down, it’s really not possible.  We’re looking forward to a fun weekend now that everyone is back at home, whoo hoo!  Today over on the Sketch Frenzy Friday blog we have a fun sketch challenge and I decided to combine it with the Stylin' Stampin' INKspirationblog Friday Favorities post.  There are lots of favorites in this new catalog but the two I used on today’s card are the Friendly Wishes Stamp set and Deco Labels Framelits (originally I thought these framelits were retired so I was so excited to see them around for another year).  This sketch is nice and easy and is a great way to show off lots of great DSP, embossing, etc. lots of possibilities.

I started with Marina Mist cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Basic Black cardstock for a mat before adding a piece of Watermelon Wonder cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and Chevron Embossing Folder and a piece of Gold Designer Series Paper from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack (I love this font print and the addition of silver and gold paper to this years pack is fabulous!!)  Next I wrapped a piece of Whisper White 3/8” Stitched Satin Ribbon around the cardfront and tied a knot.

The greeting is from the Friendly Wishes stamp set and all I did was use some Tuxedo Memento Black Ink to stamp on Marina Mist cardstock and then cut it out with the Big Shot and Deco Labels Framelits before attaching with dimensionals.

I really like the clean easy lines with this sketch and the other design team members came up with some great cards you should go check out for inspiration and then play along (try using this sketch for your next project and see how you like it!!)

GoDivas New Catalog Swap: Friendly Wishes

Good morning!  WOW, this heat is crazy, summer definitely wants to make sure we know she’s here and ready for fun (it’s times like this I appreciate getting up really early to work out so it’s a little better).  So we’ve been enjoying all the fabulous new pretties from recently released catalog I thought I would share a card I made for a swap group I’m in GoDivas.  This is an amazing group of demonstrators and we swap at the release of new catalogs, events, etc. which is a great way to have lots of wonderful samples to show using the new products.  This was my first time swapping with the group so I was more than a little nervous but I thought I would share the card I used for the swap, it’s really fun.

I started with Cucumber Crush for the cardbase and then layered a piece of Whisper White cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and Lucky Stars Embossing Folder.  Next I cut out several circles using the new Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack as well as a circle in Tip Top Toupe.  The greeting is from the Friendly Wishes stamp set and was stamped on Whisper White cardstock and then punched along the top with the Ornate Tag Topper Punch.  I also added a piece of Cherry on Top Washi Tape to the bottom of my tag and a little piece of Watermelon Wonder 1” Dotted Lace Trim was tied to the top of the tag before attaching it to the cardfront with dimensionals.

I love the Cherry on Top Product Suite, it’s so fun and cheery, and you should check out all the prints, so many options!!

Can You Case it? Design Team - Sketch Challenge CYCI #73

Happy Sunday!  Don’t you just love nice, relaxing weekends?  They are so rare around here I’m definitely enjoying it while I can. Not only does that mean getting some things done around the house, sleeping in, but also a little stamping (honestly I’m still working on pulling my retired products and getting the new items safely in their new homes so some time is needed straightening up the studio.  Before the day gets started since it’s Sunday it’s time for the weekly Can You Case It? Sketch challenge, this week we have a color challenge which gives you a lot of freedom with layout and defines what colors to use.  I decided to pull out a new stamp set, Friendly Wishes as the focus of today’s card.

I started with Pink Pirouette cardstock for the cardbase and then added a couple of pieces of the new DSP from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack (I have to say, you have to get this paper, the prints are wonderful this year and you can get them in any of the four main color families, as well as the two In Color Collections).  I also wrapped a piece of 1/8” Silver Ribbon around the DSP before attaching the DSP to a piece of Basic Black for a mat.  For an accent piece I took a piece of Pink Pirouette cardstock and punched out a circle using the 2 ½” Circle Punch and then embossed it with the Big Shot and the Lovely Lace Embossing Folder.  I also sponged around the edge before attaching it the cardfront and adding a rhinestone to the center of the embossed design.

The greeting is from the Friendly Wishes Stamp set and after stamping it using Tuxedo Black Momento Ink on Whisper White cardstock I cut it out using the Big Shot and Deco Labels Collection Framelits and then sponged around the edge before attaching it with Dimensionals.

These colors are so soft and I love the little punch of black (always works!!)  The designers are sharing some other great cards so go check them out for further inspiration and come play along, you can use this for any project you need, card, scrapbook page, home décor, etc.

If you don’t have the new catalog, and don’t already have a demonstrator, please let me know and I can make sure you get one so you can check out all the great new products we have this year (I promise you won’t be disappointed, there is something for everyone!!)

Have an enjoyable Sunday!
