SSINKspiration Forgotten Favorites from the Annual Catalog: Better Together

Good morning!  I think we'll all agree that our Occasions catalog has some fabulous items that have got our focus lately, right?  But we can't forget the annual catalog and all the wonderful products that we have available all year long.  Today over on the SSINKspiration blog the designers are sharing projects made using some of our forgotten favorites from the annual catalog.  I had a coworker recently who needed a baby card and asked for my help so I looked through my stamps and decided to use the Better Together (awesome set) and Something for Baby to come up with this card that would work equally well to welcome a baby boy or girl.

I started with Mint Macaron cardstock fro the cardbase and then added a piece of Basic Gray cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and Sparkle Embossing Folder (this is such a great neutral embossed print, it works with everything!!)

next I used the Big Shot and cut a circle using one of the cards from the Happy Baby Girl Project Life card collection (great thing about some of these patterns is that they all don't have pink in them so you could certainly service boy greetings with the same pack) and then cut a scallop circle mat out of Mint Macaron cardstock using the same framelits.

This cute little duck is from the Something for Baby stamp set and after coloring on the stamp with my Stampin' Write Markers and stamping on Whisper White cardstock it's easy to cut him out using the coordinating Baby's First Framelits.  The gray circle mat was cut with the 1 1/4" Circle Punch and then he was attached with a dimensional (used a dimensional both on the duck to the circle and the circle to the cardfront).

The final touch was the greeting which is from the Better Together stamp set (this set has greetings for so many different occasions it's so versatile and was stamped in Basic Gray ink on So Saffron cardstock before being cut out with the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits.  Before attaching the greeting to the cardfront with dimensionals I added a little piece of silver ribbon from the 3/8" Metallics Combo Pack (a SAB Freebie) for a little sparkle.

Babies are such a fun occasion to celebrate and it's great to have a few cards in your stash ready to go for just in time giving so I like to have a few on hand.  These stamps and the Project Life cards make them easy to make and sure to please.  Make sure to check out the other cards the design team is sharing and I'm sure you'll find at least one new stamp set from the Annual Catalog to add to your must have wish list (and Sale-a-bration is a great time to get those items when you can earn freebies)!

Surprise Baby Show for Tobe: Something for Baby

Good morning!  It's time for a little fun today.  Recently one of the SSINKspiration design team members, Tobe Buffenbarger, had a new baby so today we decided to throw her a surprise virtual baby shower to welcome the arrival of her new son.  I made two projects I'm sharing today a card as well as a coordinating framed décor piece.

For the card I started with Smoky Slate cardstock for the cardbase.  Next I took a piece of Whisper White cardstock for the cardfront and matted it with Basic Black cardstock.  The greeting is from the Better Together stamp set and was stamped directly on the cardfront.  I added a piece of Smoky Slate designer series paper from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack and matted it with Basic Black cardstock.

The cute little onesy is from the Something for Baby stamp set and was stamped in Marina Mist ink and then cut out with the coordinating Baby's First Framelits and attached to the cardfront with dimensionals.  I wanted to dress up the onesy a little so I added a little star I punched out of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.  The final touch was to add a double bow tied with Basic Black Baker's Twine.

Of course I had to make a coordinating framed décor piece that would be perfect in the nursery.  The base is Marina Mist cardstock and I embossed it with the Big Shot and Lucky Stars Embosing Folder.  Next I added a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock behind the Whisper White layer.  The greeting on this is from the Friendly Wishes stamp set and was stamped in Basic Black ink.  Next I took a piece of Whisper White 5/8" Organza Ribbon and dyed it using a sponge dauber and Marina Mist ink (make sure to set it aside to dry).  Once the ribbon was dry I attached it the cardstock and then tied a bow using the same Basic Black Baker's Twine from the card.

All of the images, baby buggy, rubber duck, and toy top are from the Something for Baby stamp set and all have coordinating framelits to make cutting them out easy.  I did add a rhinestone to the eye of the rubber duck for a little bling.

I had lots of fun making these projects and they're already in the mail on their way to Tobe, I hope she enjoys them and is getting some much needed rest while cuddling with her cute little one.  Make sure to go check out all the other projects the SSINKspiration design team members are sharing to help shower Tobe with congratulatory baby well wishes.

Project Life Hybrid Card: Something for Baby

Happy Friday!  The end of summer has brought the promise for fall and all the things we enjoy (even if the heat hasn't quite left yet) but there are some things we get to enjoy all year along, including the arrivals of new bundles of joy.  So it's always good to have baby cards on hand for when you get to welcome new little ones.  The Project Life by Stampin' Up! Hello Baby Card Collection and coordinating accessories not only make for great memory keeping but also for other projects, including cards and was the main background for today's card.

I started with Mint Macaron cardstock for the cardbase and then cut down a card from the Hello Baby Card Collection to provide lots of color and detail for the cardfront.  I wrapped a piece of Mint Macaron 5/8" Mini Striped Ribbon and tied it in a know.

For the stamped image I used the Something for Baby stamp set and stamped the baby buggy in Basic Gray ink before cutting it out with the Big Shot and Layering Circles Framelits.  Every baby buggy needs a little bling so I added a couple Crushed Curry Enamel Dots (from the Regal Enamel Dots Package) and attached it to the cardfront with dimensionals.

The greeting is from the Badges and Banners stamp set and was stamped in Mint Macaron ink.  I don't have the new banner punch that coordinates with this stamp so I just cut it out with Paper Snips and attached it with dimensionals.

I like how quick and easy this card is (they all don't need to be over the top and detailed to still be appreciated and convey happy greetings.

SSINKspiration Technique Challenge #SSINKTC35: Watercolor Resist Bab Greetings

Good morning!  We survived the hot and humid weekend and even got to check out the new Star Trek Beyond movie, which we loved.  With the start of the new week it's time for another challenge over on the SSINKspiration blog, this time it's a technique challenge and we're using Watercolor Resist as the technique.  I love this technique, not only since we have some fun UV treated papers that already have printed designs ready for color, or you can make your own using heat embossing.  Hubby had a coworker who recently had a baby and I've been working on the baby gift which of course means we needed a card.

I started with So Saffron cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock as a mat for the Whisper White cardfront.  For the background of the cardfront I used the Playful Backgrounds stamp set and stamped using Pool Party ink.  The greeting was stamped directly on the cardfront using Basic Black ink and the Suite Sayings stamp set.

For the main image I started by stamping the cute rubber duck from the Something for Baby stamp Stampin' Write Markers before stamping on Whisper White cardstock.  I cut it out using Paper Snips (since I don't have the Baby's First Framelits but they coordinate so cutting out the baby images are super easy).  Next I used the new Jar of Love stamp set and stamped the medium jar using Basic Black ink on Whisper White cardstock and then cut it out using the Big Shot and Everyday Jars Framelits.  To create the technique background I started by stamping the same bubble image from the Playful Backgrounds set using Versamark ink and heat embossed it using the Heat Tool and White Emboss Powder.  To color in the background I used Pool Party ink and swirled it to create a water look effect (so fun and easy).  I attached the duckie in the jar using a dimensional.  To make the lid for the jar I heat embossed it using Copper Emboss Powder.  The final touch was to add some Copper Metallic Thread looped behind the jar and then attached the jar to the cardfront.

I love how this card turned out and how you can use a couple of little techniques and embellishments t elevate the card without going over the top.  There are so many great ways to use this technique for the perfect effect on any project you have so check out the other projects the design team is sharing and then play along and share what you come up for even more ideas.

SSINKspiration Blog Hop: Surprise Baby Shower!

Good morning!  Spring is here (even if there’s seems to be a little battle to get winter to officially leave, haha!)  and with spring comes thoughts of new things and arrivals.  On the Stylin’Stampin’ INKspiration blog that one of our team members Kim Ryden was expecting her third baby next month.  Of course we’ve all been very excited for this new arrival so we’ve decided to dedicate this months blog hop as a surprise virtual baby shower for Kim (all the projects shown in this months hop will be making their way to Kim’s nursery).  This is also perfect timing since little Mister Micah decided he was ready to join the family and arrived last weekend, whoo hoo!!

As you hop along, please be sure to comment and show some love on every blog! We are always excited to hear from our followers! You should have just left stop number #8 on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Blog Hop - Donna at Geek Squad Crafting. If so, you are in the right spot. If a link doesn't work or you get off track, you will find the full blog hop lineup below.

I made two items for the new mom, a card and fun 3D item.  For the card I decided to combine a couple of different challenges for inspiration, specifically the Fab Friday color challenge and the Creativate  sketch challenge (I love when I can use different sketch and color challenges for inspiration to get the creative juices flowing.

For the card I started with Pool Party cardstock for the cardbase and then took a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock and embossed it with the Big Shot and Confetti Embossing Folder.  For the center strip I layered Whisper White and So Saffron cardstock and then wrapped some Basic Black Baker’s Twine around the layers before attaching to the cardfront.
These little ducks are so cute and are from the Something for Baby stamp set and I used So Saffron and Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write Markers to color the images before stamping.  I used Paper Snips to cut out each of the ducks and then cut out Pool Party and Calypso Coral circles using the Big Shot and the Circle Collection Framelits for the perfect mat.  There are tons of dimensionals attaching the circles and the ducks to the cardfront.  The final touch was the greeting and I used the Suite Sayings stamp set and stamped it in Basic Black ink on Whisper White cardstock and then punched it out using the Washi Label Punch, dimensionals were used to attach the greeting to the cardfront.
When Micah decided to arrive early I was still working on a gift idea and then I remembered how much I enjoyed receiving items that commemorated my son’s birth so that’s what I decided to make.  I found this great frame that has two openings so Kim can add her favorite picture to the bottom.  On the top I used a piece of retired designer series paper (Basic Gray) as a mat for a piece of Whisper White cardstock that I had printed Micah’s statics (I used a Star Wars font since I’ve heard the Ryden’s are Star Wars fans).  Then I stamped some more images from the Something for Baby stamp set, cut them out and attached them to the cardstock with dimensionals.  The final touch was to added some pieces of ribbon and bow for a colorful accent (most of the ribbon pieces are retired but I did use a piece of Whisper White 3/8” Stitched Satin Ribbon which is current).
I don’t make lots of baby items but I really had fun with this and hope that Kim enjoys them.  I love  how fun and easy it is to make personal and unique gifts for any occasion you may need.
