Hand Stamped Sentiments Inspiration Challenge 303: Snow is Glistening

Good morning!  I think we can safely say the holidays have arrived (I've already started my Black Friday shopping, love online ordering, haha!) so it's perfect fitting for this weeks inspiration challenge over on the
Hand Stamped Sentiments blog.  I love this inspiration challenge as there are lots of colors and images that you can pick from, of course I decided to go with snow and use the products from the Catch a Snowflake Promotion (we only have a week and a half to purchase these items).

I started with Balmy Blue cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Blueberry Bushel cardstock as a mat for the Whisper White cardfront.  On the cardfront I spritzed it with water and then added some blue Brusho Crystal Color and then spritzed again until I got the color saturation I was looking for.  Once the cardstock was dry I used the Snow is Glistening stamp set and stamped the smallest snowflakes around the edges of the brusho using Balmy Blue ink.

Next I used the Snowfall Thinlits and the Big Shot to cut some snowflakes out of Silver Glimmer Paper and used Vellum Cardstock for the large swirly die (a little hard to see in the picture).

The greeting is from the same stamp set and was stamped in Blueberry Bushel ink on Balmy Blue cardstock and then cut out with the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits.  I used dimensionals to attach the greeting and then added a few rhinestones on the bottom for a final frosty bling.

This card is perfect to get you in the holiday spirit (if your not already) and come on glitter and rhinestones, it's my version of perfection!  Make sure to check out the other cards the design team is sharing and we would love for you to play along with us and share your creation.

National Craft Month Blog Hop: Epic Celebrations

Good evening!  So March is National Craft Month so I thought it would be perfect to help kick off this fun month by participating in a blog hop to celebrate all the crafty fun.  I had the Brusho Crystal Color out on my desk so I decided to use it a different way to create a really fun and easy background.

I started with Tangerine Tango cardstock for the cardbase and then used Basic Black cardstock as a mat for the Whisper White cardfront.  To create the background I lightly spritzed the cardstock with water and then sprinkled different colors of Brusho for a kind of ombre effect (I used Yellow, Orange and Red) and then I spritzed the cardstock again with water until the crystal color started to spread and create the look I was going for.  To help the cardfront dry faster I did us my Heat Tool.

For the stamped images I used the Epic Celebrations stamp set (a Sale-a-bration Freebie!) and stamped the tennis shoe image on Basic Black ink using Versamark ink and then used Silver Emboss Powder and the Heat Tool to set the image.  I used the Big Shot and the Stitched Shapes Framelits to out the tennis shoes.  I wanted to amp up the silver effect on this card so I took a piece of Silver Foil Paper and embossed it with the Big Shot and Hexagon Dynamic Embossing Folder and cut it to look like a flag.

The greeting was stamped in Basic Black ink on Real Red cardstock and I used the same framelits to cut the greeting before attaching it to the cardfront with dimensionals.  I added a silver star enamel shape, from the Metallics Enamel Shapes for final touch of bling.

This card was so much fun to make and is perfect especially for a teen or other kiddo you want to let them know how special they are.  This is one of the cards we will be making at next weeks Just Cards class so if you haven't had a chance to play with the Brusho Crystal Color before this will be your chance.  Now make sure to check out all the other great projects the blog hoppers are sharing, there is plenty of inspiration to get you through the whole month, and beyond.

SSINKspiration CASE the Designer (Cheryl Hamilton): Dragonfly Dreams

Good morning and Happy Friday!  Holy wind Batman is it crazy outside, there are definitely no dragonflies out and about today.  Today the SSINKspiration designers are playing another round of CASE the Designer.  This month we're focusing on Cheryl Hamilton and her wonderful creations.  I had fun looking through Cheryl's blog for project inspiration, so much to choose from, and when I saw this ship in a bottle card for one of her card classes, see Cheryl's card HERE.  Now I don't have the stamp set Cheryl used but I used the background idea and sketch as inspiration for my card.

I started with Smoky Slate cardstock for the cardbase and then added Basic Black for the mat on my Whisper White cardfront.  I embossed the cardfront with the Big Shot and Ruffled Dynamic Embossing folder and then used Brusho Crystal Color and an Aqua Painter to create the watercolor background (I spritzed the cardstock with water first and then used my Heat Tool to dry the cardstock so I could finish the card.)

The greeting is from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and was stamped on Smoky Slate cardstock with Basic Black ink before cutting it out with the Big Shot and Layering Ovals Framelits.  I used the coordinating Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits and Big Shot to cut the string of dragonflies out of Silver Foil cardstock so it really pops againsted the blue watercolor wash.  The final touch was to add some enamel dots from the Metallics and Subtles Enamal Shapes sets.

I definitely feel several similar elements in both my card and Cheryl's, while adding my own spin, I hope Cheryl approves.

SSINKspiration Back to Nature: Waterfront

Good morning!  What a cold, dreary weekend we had.  Certainly not something I wanted to spend lots of time in outside so I was happy today the SSINKspiration designers are taking it "back to nature" for today's cards so I could create something I more like to enjoy while I'm outdoors.  The Waterfront stamp set in the Occasions Catalog is so awesome but I haven't been able to give it any love so I finally got it inky this weekend.  I also got to try out the Brusho Crystal Colour for the first time and oh my, love it!   (I actually used it on three different projects this weekend and created different looks each time.)

I started with Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardbase and then used Very Vanilla for the cardfront.  To create the background I started by spritzing the cardstock with water and then lightly sprinkling with the Blue Brusho and then used my Aqua Painter to swirl the color around to create a watercolor look.  Then I set it aside to dry (it does take a little while depending on how much water you add but you can always speed the drying up with the Heat Tool).  Once the background was try I stamped the greeting on the back using Basic Black ink.

For the main stamped image I cut a circle out of Very Vanilla Cardstock using the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits then I started building my image (and since this set is photopolymer it's really easy to line up all the images just how I want.  I used different shades of blue Stampin' Write Markers and colored directly on the stamp to create all the different shades of water so it looks like it has movement).  Before attaching the piece to the cardfront I added a strip of designer series paper from the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack and then added the stamped piece with dimensionals.  The final touch is a bow tied with 1/4" Copper Trim.

Now doesn't this look much more appealing than what we had this weekend?  This looks like the perfect place for a relaxing hike or family camping trip, come on spring I know you're almost here!
