Can You Case it? Design Team - Color Challenge CYCI #81

Happy Sunday!  We’ve had a great time celebrating Chris’ birthday and today we get to relax and I have the ladies coming over for stamp class so it’s sure to be a fun time!  Today it’s time for another edition of the Can You Case It? weekly challenge and this week we have a color challenge (provided by our guest designer, DesTenia Nelson) we were provided three basic color families but we could pick the specific colors to use for from each family.  I decided to use this card for Chris’ birthday card but had to wait until after his birthday to share.

I started with Marina Mist cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Whisper White cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and Lucky Stars Embossing Folder and I sponged around the edge with Mossy Meadow before attaching it to the card.  I used the Amazing Birthday stamp set for all the images on the card and used the 1 ¼” Circle Punch to punch the three circles along the right side and used the Big Shot and Banner Collection Framelits to cut out the Mossy Meadow Pennant and the greeting.  Of course the card needed a little bling so I added a little Gold Sequin Trim and attached it and the pennants to the card with the Handheld Mini Stapler.

Anyone who makes birthday cards needs this stamp set it’s got some great images and sayings that are perfect!  The other design team members are sharing some wonderful cards for inspiration so please, go check them out and then play along and share what you create so we can all enjoy.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Birthdays: Amazing Birthday

Good morning!  What a difference a couple of days makes, it's much cooler and almost fall-like.  By no means I'm not complaining since any break from the humidity is welcome, besides with the release of the new Annual Catalog yesterday it's hot enough all on it's own.  Really, have you checked out the catalog, there's so much I love I can't wait to get my next order for lots of new goodies to play with.  Today the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog design team is sharing lots of great ideas for all the upcoming birthdays you have, I never seem to have enough birthday cards.  For today's card I decided to mix old and new for lots of fun, including several of the new 2015-2017 In Colors, which are fabulous!

The cardbase is Tip Top Taupe and then I added a piece of Soft Sky cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and the Polka Dot Embossing Folder.  During last months preorder period demonstrators were able to purchase select items from the new catalog early so we could begin working with them (love that perk of being a demonstrator!!) and the Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack was one those items and I love all the beautiful colors and prints included, so fun.  I created two flags using the DSP and the new Triple Banner Punch.  For the greeting I used the Amazing Birthday stamp set and using Stampin' Write Markers to ink up the stamp before stamping it on Whisper White cardstock, and then cut it out using the Big Shot and Banner Framelits.  The final touch was to add the bow so I used the 1/4" Handheld Punch to punch a hole in the top and then threaded a piece of 1" Watermelon Wonder Lace Trim through and tied in a knot.

This card and colors just makes me smile, which let's be honest is the whole point of birthday cards.  I know I'm going to really have fun with these new In Colors, and so will you so make sure to order them soon so you don't have to wait to play.

Can You Case it? Design Team - Sketch Challenge CYCI #57

Happy Sunday!  What an interesting weekend.  We had a very successful birthday sleepover (oh my do boys have a lot of energy) and then the weather, it was crazy to look outside and hardly be able to see the house across the street due to the snow and wind, thankfully we got to enjoy it all from inside.  Today's Aidan's birthday so we're planning even more birthday fun but I wanted to make sure to share my card for this weeks Can You Case It? sketch challenge. We were given a challenge to make a card in under 10 minutes with only two layers, not as easy as it sounds.  Since I have birthdays on the mind I decided to go in that direction for today's card.

I started with Smoky Slate for the cardbase and then added a piece of DSP from the Flashback Designer Series Paper.  For the greeting I used the Amazing Birthday stamp and made my second layer, the greeting be the main focus.  I used Stampin' Write Markers to color on the stamp before stamping on Very Vanilla cardstock.  After stamping I used the Angled Tag Topper Punch to punch the top of the tag.  I also sponged all around the edge of the tag with Smoky Slate ink.  I did add a little extra element by stamping the "Make" from the greeting with Memento Ink on Smoky Slate cardstock, cut it out with Paper Snips and attached it to the tag with dimensionals.

To dress up the top of the tag I added a piece of Crushed Curry Chevron Ribbon and then tied a bow around the ribbon with some Basic Black Baker's Twine.  The final touch was to attach the tag to the card and I used dimensionals to pop it up.

This card turned out nice and bold and will definitely cheer up some on their special day.  The design team has made some fabulous cards so go check them out and then play along and share what you make so we can all enjoy!

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Masculine Monday Mash Up: Amazing Birthday

Happy Monday!  What a great relaxing weekend (I love those) and were starting the week off with a new snow storm and while it's not supposed to be nearly as bad for us as others, we'll see how it goes.  It's time for Masculine Monday over on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration and I always love these posts or all the great "dude" inspiration that's so fun and I decided to combine it with the Proverbial Stampers January sketch challenge (doubling up for double the fun!).  There's also some great new products that really help with these types of cards, especially the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack (love the realistic graphic images!).  I started with Crumb Cake for the cardbase and then added a piece of Always Artichoke cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and Alphabet Press Embossing Folder (after embossing I sponged all over the cardstock with Crumb Cake ink to really help make the embossing pop.  Next I added a piece of the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack, this brick pattern is fun.  I used the Big Shot and Woodgrain Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Early Espresso cardstock.

For the stamped image I started with Very Vanilla cardstock and stamped the chevron woodgrain print from the Truly Grateful stamp set with Crumb Cake ink and then sponged all around the edges.  The greeting is from the Amazing Birthday stamp set and I used Stampin' Write Markers (in Cajun Craze, Early Espresso, and Always Artichoke).  For even more texture I added a piece of Natural 5/8" Chevron Ribbon. I trimmed of the edges of the ribbon and pulled some strands to distress it, tied a knot in the middle and then attached it so the chevron pattern wasn't showing (this ribbon is so versatile, love it!!!)

This card has so much texture and dimension, I just want to touch it.  Make sure to check out all the other design team cards, I've seen some of them and they are awesome.  You'll definitely be adding some of these to your CASE it list.

Sketch Frenzy Friday Sketch Challenge: Amazing Birthday

We've reached another Friday, whoo hoo!  We're thorough enjoying our cruise and just relaxing today.  Of course I couldn't leave you without any creative inspiration so today I have a card that's doing double duty.  I made this card for the Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch challenge and the Amazing Birthday stamp set showcase on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog (love when you can cover two things with one!)  This card I made for a family friend and it has lots of fun elements that completely put it over the top.

I started with a Real Red Cardbase and then added a piece of Maritime Designer Series Paper (love this bold print!) and I wrapped some Whisper White Baker's Twine around the DSP and then used another piece of twine to tie a knot so the twine would come together in the middle.  I also added three small Pearls to the top left corner of the DSP that I had colored with one of my Coastal Cabana Blendabilities markers.

For the main focal piece I used lots of different stamps from the Amazing Birthday stamp set.  I stamped the banner on Coastal Cabana cardstock and cut it out with Paper Snips.  I stamped the other different sayings using just pieces of the stamp (coloring just the piece I needed with Stampin' Write Markers) and then cut them out with Paper Snips as well.  Of course you can't miss that fabulous star.  I cut it out using Silver Glimmer Paper, the Big Shot and the Star Framelits.  Next I used the Stampin' Trimmer and the scoring blade to score on each of the points so I could crease them and make the star be three dimensional.  I used a couple of Glue Dots to attach the star (note,  didn't attach all five points of the star to the card so that when I mailed the card the star would give and was easy to mail.

I have to say, I completely love this card (I was inspired by a project we made a convention this year using the same stamp set and star and knew it would be perfect to wish someone a special birthday.  Make sure to check out all the other fabulous projects the designers on these two blogs are sharing for even more inspiration.

Have a wonderful Friday and make sure to come back, I have something fun to share tomorrow as well.

Happy stamping,

Sketch Frenzy Friday Sketch Challenge: Amazing Birthday

Another Friday has arrived, and this one is extra special.  Today is my husband's 40th birthday and we're spending the weekend celebrating, starting with a party tonight for him (and three of our other friends who also turned 40 within the last month, it's quite a busy time for the milestone birthdays).  So for today's Sketch Frenzy Friday card challenge I decided to make my husband's birthday card (or at least one of them).  Today is also the one year anniversary of the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog that I'm a member of the design team so I thought this card was equally fitting.

For the cardbase I used Smoky Slate cardstock and then added a piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock that I embossed with the Big Shot and the Zig Zag Embossing Folder.  Next I added a piece of Flashback Designer Series Paper that I matted on Real Red cardstock.

For the main stamped image I used the Amazing Birthday stamp set (this set really is the bomb) and I stamped it in Smoky Slate ink on Very Vanilla cardstock.  I also stamped different parts of the greeting with different colors so I could cut them out with Paper Snips and attach them to the greeting with dimensionals.  I also added a piece of Natural 5/8" Chevron Ribbon (I used the reverse side so there wasn't a pattern).  The final touch was to add the birthday greeting from the Remembering Your Birthday stamp set that I punched out with the Modern Label Punch and once again dimensionals were used to attach the greeting to the cardfront.

I have to admit, I love how this card turned out, so fun with lots of texture and dimension.  Make sure to check out all the other cards the Sketch Frenzy Friday design team are sharing and come play along with the sketch challenge, so many possibilities.
