Proverbial Stampers Sketch Challenge: High Tide

Good morning!  My husband's birthday was earlier this week and one of the things he loves is visiting the beach and we always check out lighthouses that are in the area so I thought for this years card I would give a run card with a "beachy feel."  I also decided to use the Proverbial Stampers monthly sketch challenge as inspiration.

I started with Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Wood Textures Designer Series paper (love all the texture and dimension this paper has!) and wrapped a piece of 5/8" Burlap Ribbon around the cardfront.

Next I worked on the main stamped image.  I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock and using the High Tide stamp set I just started building my scene (photopolymer stamps are great for two-step stamping like this since you can see exactly where you need to be to match things up.  I used Real Red and Cherry Cobbler for the lighthouse and the dimension in the sand was created by using the larger stamp and stamping off first with the Crumb Cake ink for a lighter image and then used the smaller stamp and full strength Crumb Cake ink.  I did the same thing with the greenery around the lighthouse using Old Olive.  The water was stamped in Marina Mist and the birds in Dapper Denim (not I only used the smaller parts of the bird stamp and stamp twice to get the amount I wanted.  The greeting is from the Guy Greetings stamp set and was stamped in Dapper Denim.

Once I was finished with the stamp piece I matted it with Marina Mist cardstock and wrapped some Linen Thread around the piece and then tied a double bow and attached it with a glue dot.  Before attaching the stamped image to the cardfront I had to add the flags.  I used Dapper Denim for the sides and Old Olive for the center piece (and embossed it with the Big Shot and Softly Falling Embossing Folder).  Once I had everything just where I wanted I attached the whole piece with dimensionals (I also added a dimensional to the back of the green flag so the whole piece was raised off the cardfront and really had some dimension.

I was so happy with how this card turned out, it really has that relaxing summer feeling that this time of year is all about (I'm a little envious of people who have summer birthdays, it just seems the perfect time of year to celebrate) and it's perfect for hubby.

TGIF Theme Challenge Meets Proverbial Stampers Sketch Challenge: Summer Birthday Fun!

Good morning!  Oh my what a change in the weather, a break in the heat in the humidity this week makes one happy lady and nothing to feel blue about here.  Today I decided to play along with the TGIF challenges theme challenge which is "Summertime Blues" and I decided to mix things up with shades of blue and one of my new favorite framelits (who doesn't just relax when you see a beach chair and cool drink?) and decided to combine it with the Proverbial Stampers sketch challenge for double the fun!!

I started with Thick Whisper White cardstock for the cardbase and then added a layer of Soft Sky cardstock.  Next I took a piece of Night of Navy cardstock and embossed it with the Big Shot and Polka Dot Basics Embossing folder.  I added a strip of Silver Foil cardstock to help anchor all my elements.

Next I took a piece of designer series paper from the Delightful Daisy DSP pack and matted it with Melon Mambo cardstock.  For the main element I used the Big Shot and Seasonal Layers Framelits to cut out this fun beach chair out of Whisper White cardstock.  I stamped the yummy drink using the Colorful Season stamp set (don't forget you can buy the stamp set and coordinating framelits as a bundle and save 10% and you will want both these items for projects all year long) and then cut it out with the coordinating framelit and attached it with a dimensional.

The greeting is from the Sweet Cupcake stamp set and was stamped in Melon Mambo ink on Whisper White cardstock and then cut out with the Classic Label Punch (it's become my go to punch for greetings and I love how I can tailor the size based on how long my greeting is.

I have always thought that people who have summer birthdays are so lucky, nice weather and vacations what a great way to ring in a birthday and this card definitely helps someone celebrate their birthday with all the classic feelings of summer.

Proverbial Stampers Sketch Challenge for an SSINKspiration All Occasion: Lovely Inside & Out

http://ssinkspiration.blogspot.com/2017/06/any-occasion.htmlGood morning!  What an amazing start to the week, we don't normally get nice, cool weather this time of year with low humidity and we've been so blessed this week so I'm soaking it all in while we can, my flowers are thriving and running outside isn't nearly as taxing which makes me want to just keep going. The heat and humidity return tomorrow so it'll be back to the usual soon enough.  Today's card is in honor of the beautiful weather and is a combination of the Proverbial Stampers June Sketch challenge and SSINKspiration blog All Occasion post and features a couple of the great new 2017-2019 In Colors that I wouldn't immediately jump to adding together.
I started with Fresh Fig cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper (the Lemon Lime Twist floral pattern has so many tones it really adds some dimension which I love) and I matted it with Basic Black Cardstock.

For the decorative element I started by punching a piece of Lemon Lime Twist with the new Starburst Punch and then embossed it with the Big Shot and Softly Falling Embossing folder.  Before attaching it to the cardfront I added a piece of the Fresh Fig 1/2" Finely Woven Ribbon to help anchor the circle.  The greeting is from the Lovely Inside & Out Bundle and was stamped in Basic Black ink on Whisper White cardstock and then cut out with the Classic Label Punch and attached with dimensionals.  For the "lovely" I used the coordinating framelits and cut it out of Gold Foil and then trimmed it down so I just had the words (you know my love for a little bling!)
I love the simplicity of this card and it really lets the designer series paper be the star.  Make sure to check out the other cards the design team is sharing, we always need all occasion cards ready to send when the need arises and there are some beauties!

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Color Challenge SSINKCC37: Pun Intended

Good morning and Happy Labor Day!  We were so happy that the storm that was predicted to impact our weekend weather didn't give us more than cooler, breezier days.  With the start of the new month comes fun, new challenges over on the SSINKspiration blog, starting with today's color sketch.  These colors are perfect for the arrival of fall and was fun to play with since I haven't used this combo before.  It was also about time to play with one of the great new hostess sets in the 2016-2017 Annual Catalog, Pun Intended.

I started with Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardbase and then added a layer of Garden Green cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and Lucky Stars Embossing Folder.  Next I added a piece of Chocolate Chip designer series paper from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack and matted it with Crumb Cake cardstock.  A piece of 5/8" Whisper White Organza Ribbon was wrapped around the layers and cardfront before tying a knot.

For the main stamped image I used the Pun Intended Hostess Set and stamped the camera image in Chocolate Chip ink on Whisper White cardstock and then cut it out with the Big Shot and Layering Squares Framelits and then I sponged around the edges with Crumb Cake ink.  I cut a scallop square mat for the camera piece using Cajun Craze cardstock and attaching the piece to the cardfront with dimensionals.

The greeting is from the same stamp set and was stamped in Chocolate Chip ink on Cajun Craze cardstock before punching it out with the Classic Label Punch.  The greeting was attached with dimensionals and I added a couple of Pearls as the final touch.

This was my first time using this set and I love the images and the cheeky sayings, so fun!!  The design team is sharing some other great cards using this color sketch so go check them out for inspiration and then play along with the color sketch (the long holiday weekend is perfect for a little extra crafting time!!)

Mashup: SSINKspiration Valentine's Meetings Proverbial Stampers Sketch Challenge

Good morning!  It’s another freezing cold day here in VA but we’re  sharing Valentine’s projects today over on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspirationblog which always warms me up.  I also decided to combine this theme and use the Proverbial Stampers Sketch Challenge since as soon as I saw it I knew it would work perfectly for hearts.  I also had fun mixing old and new stamp sets for a really fun card.

I started with Cherry Cobbler cardstock for the cardbase (not something I usually reach for on Valentine’s but it works great with the warmer Very Vanilla cardbase so I knew it would work.  Next I took a piece of Basic Black cardstock to mat the Very Vanilla cardbase and then used the new Timeless Textures stamp set (this set is sure to be a classic along with Gorgeous Grunge) to stamp several different images using Crumb Cake, Basic Black, and Cherry Cobbler ink.  Next I took the Sweetheart Punch and punched out a heart using the Basic Black DSP (from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack and sponged it to soften the white text, a couple of hearts using the Kraft Corrugated cardstock (I haven’t used this paper much and it’s fabulous!!).  For the final two hearts I stamped them using the Groovy Love stamp set.  I layered all the hearts together and used a dimensional just on the middle heart so it pops up!  Before attaching the cardfront to the cardbase I wrapped a piece of Gold Baker’s Twine around the layers and tied a small bow in the top.

For the greeting I used the Going Global stamp set and stamped it in Cherry Cobbler ink on Very Vanilla cardstock and then punched it out with the Oval Punch.  I layered it with an oval punched using the same punch and some Gold Glimmer Paper.  Dimensionals were used to pop up the top layer of the greeting.

This is such an elegant card that isn’t over the top with bling but all the colors and textures really work well together, I love it!!  There are some other great Valentine’s cards being shared by the design team make sure to check them out, I’m sure you’ll find just the right inspiration for your next project.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Masculine Monday Mash Up: Amazing Birthday

Happy Monday!  What a great relaxing weekend (I love those) and were starting the week off with a new snow storm and while it's not supposed to be nearly as bad for us as others, we'll see how it goes.  It's time for Masculine Monday over on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration and I always love these posts or all the great "dude" inspiration that's so fun and I decided to combine it with the Proverbial Stampers January sketch challenge (doubling up for double the fun!).  There's also some great new products that really help with these types of cards, especially the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack (love the realistic graphic images!).  I started with Crumb Cake for the cardbase and then added a piece of Always Artichoke cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and Alphabet Press Embossing Folder (after embossing I sponged all over the cardstock with Crumb Cake ink to really help make the embossing pop.  Next I added a piece of the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack, this brick pattern is fun.  I used the Big Shot and Woodgrain Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Early Espresso cardstock.

For the stamped image I started with Very Vanilla cardstock and stamped the chevron woodgrain print from the Truly Grateful stamp set with Crumb Cake ink and then sponged all around the edges.  The greeting is from the Amazing Birthday stamp set and I used Stampin' Write Markers (in Cajun Craze, Early Espresso, and Always Artichoke).  For even more texture I added a piece of Natural 5/8" Chevron Ribbon. I trimmed of the edges of the ribbon and pulled some strands to distress it, tied a knot in the middle and then attached it so the chevron pattern wasn't showing (this ribbon is so versatile, love it!!!)

This card has so much texture and dimension, I just want to touch it.  Make sure to check out all the other design team cards, I've seen some of them and they are awesome.  You'll definitely be adding some of these to your CASE it list.
