SSINKspiration Technique Challenge #SSINKTC38: Colored Embossing Folder Camo Birthday Greetings

Happy Monday!  During part of the weekend we were able to take a drive to a local cidery and enjoy some of the new fall flavors and while we were driving were able to enjoy the beautiful fall foliage which I decided to use as inspiration for today's card using this month's technique challenge over on the SSINKspiration blog.  This month's technique is colored embossing folder and it's a great technique that really ups the wow factor on your project with not a lot of extra effort.  Instead of using a brayer to color my embossing folder and to get the fun leaf/camo look I used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set and stamped different colors using the splatter stamp (make sure to start with the lightest colors first).  After stamping on the embossing folder then you just add your cardstock and emboss with your Big Shot as usual (in this case I used the Woodland Textured Embossing Folder) and tada it's all done.

I started with Delightful Dijon cardstock and then added the embossed cardfront (used Very Vanilla cardstock).  For the main stamped image I used The Wilderness Awaits stamp set, which is great for those rustic, masculine cards and stamped the elk in Early Espresso ink on Very Vanilla cardstock and then matted it with Cajun Craze cardstock.

The greeting is from the Guy Greetings stamp set and was stamped in Delightful Dijon ink on Very Vanilla cardstock before being cut out with the Big Shot and Layering Ovals Framelits.  A scalloped oval mat for the greeting was cut using the same framelits and then attached to the cardfront with dimensionals.  I decided to add a little dazzle to the card so I added a simple Gold Metallic Enamel Dot.

The cool things about using stamps to color your embossing folder is that if you're making multiples of these the background looks completely different each time.   This is a great way to make a masculine card that will definitely impress.  The other design team members have shared some great cards using this technique so go check them out and we would love for you to come play along and share what you create using this technique.

Have a great day!
