SSINKspiration Masculine Monday: Traveler

Good morning! We're back from an amazing vacation and truly memorable experience, Disney and Star Wars is a great combination.   Today I'm back to share a really fun masculine card for Masculine Monday over on the SSINKspiration blog.  I always have fun with these cards since I have so many guys in my life (and they're not really into flowers and such!!)

I started with Cajun Craze cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of  Early Espresso cardstock.  For the main patterned paper I used a card from the Memories in the Making Project Life Speciality Cards (FREE during Sale-a-bration and added stripes of color using a sponge and Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze, and Early Espresso Ink (love how the designs come through on the card when you add ink!!).

Next I took a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock and stamped the World Map stamp in Crumb Cake ink and then sponged around the edges.  I used a pieces of designer series paper from the Going Places Designer Series Paper stack and sponged it using Early Espresso ink.  For the main stamped image I used the Traveler stamp and stamped the train image in Early Espresso ink on Very Vanilla cardstock and then cut it out with the Big Shot and Tags & Labels Framelits.  For an accent I added a piece of Natural 5/8" Chevron Ribbon (I ruffled it up and then used the Handheld Mini Stapler).

For the greeting I used the Tag Talk stamp set and stamp the image twice (on Crumb Cake and Cajun Craze cardstock) and used my Paper Snips to cut out the center greeting and attached it with dimensionals and used the Bracket Label Punch to cut out the Cajun Craze layer and attached the whole greeting with dimensionals.

There are lots of fun layers and elements on this card that I really had fun added and add texture and dimension to the cards (but it's still flat enough that the postman will be happy!!)  The other design team members are sharing some great cards for further inspiration so please go check them out and enjoy!

Sketch Frenzy Friday Sketch Challenge: A World of Father's Day Greetings

Good morning!  School is officially out (whoo hoo) and it’s time for some summer fun, starting with Father’s Day this weekend.  This is perfect timing and it should be a great weekend.  It’s Friday so I have a new Sketch Frenzy Friday Sketch Challenge to share and since I’m having a Guys card class tonight I decided to use these sketch for one of our class cards (multitasking is always a wonderful thing!  I had fun mixing up some colors that I don’t usually use together to come up with this elegant card.

I started with Smoky Slate for the cardbase and then added a piece of Basic Black cardstock that I embossed with the Big Shot and Stylish Stripes Embossing Folder.  Next I took a piece of Whisper White cardstock and cut it out with the Oval Collection Framelits and then stamped with the World Map stamp in Cajun Craze ink and sponged all over with Smoky Slate ink.  I created a mat for the oval with a piece of Night of Navy cardstock and the same framelit set.  I used some Gold Foil Sheets, Big Shot, Circle Card Thinlit Die, and the Itty Bitty Star Punch to create some foil stars and attached them with dimensionals.

The greeting is from the Guys Greetings stamp set and was stamped with Basic Black ink on Cajun Craze ink and I used the Ticket Duo Punch to trim the edges before attaching it with dimensionals as well.

This card is nice and simple but has some fun touches to help draw your eye and make you smile.  Plus this card was designed so it could easily be changed to a birthday card, etc. if the class attendees would like to use it for something other than a Father’s Day card.

Can You Case it? Design Team - Sketch Challenge CYCI #65

Happy Sunday!  What a beautiful morning!  It’s time for another race, this morning I’m running the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler with some friends down in D.C.  I’m excited that the cherry blossoms will be blooming this year so it should be a beautiful race.  It’s time for another card for this weeks Can You Case It? Sketch challenge and this week we were given 10 minutes and two layers to see what we could create.

I started with Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardbase.  For my first layer I took a piece of Soft Suede cardstock and stamp the World Map background stamp in the same color ink.  Then I crumpled up the cardstock and then flattened it before sponging all over with Soft Suede Ink.  Before attaching the cardstock to the cardbase I distressed around the edges for texture.

For the main stamped image I started by cutting a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock with the Big Shot and Party Pennants BigzL Die.  I stamped the train from the Traveler stamp set in Soft Suede Ink.  I used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set to stamp the splatters in Crumb Cake ink.  The greeting is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set using Mossy Meadow ink.  I used the ¼” Handheld Punch to punch two holes before threading some Mossy Meadow 3/8” Stitched Satin Ribbon.

It’s fun to see how much you can do with not a lot of time or supplies and still turn out fun card.  And it’s a guy card which is even better!
