30 Day Gratitude Challenge: Day 18 (SSI Favorite Christmas Bundle)

Happy Friday!  I'm so looking forward to this weekend, not only is all the family in town and we're planning a little adventure Saturday afternoon but the Christmas decorations are going up in full blast and I can't wait.  Plus Aidan has personally created our outdoor lighting plan (he's had a drawing made since last December) so it will be interesting to see how it turns out and his managing of the installation process.  It's only fitting for today's gratitude card I went wit a Christmas theme to reflect our mood and it also fits with today's SSINKspiration focus on Favorite Christmas Bundles.

I started with Red Red cardstock and then added a piece of Crumb Cake that was embossed with the Big Shot and Polka Dot Embossing Folder for the cardfront.  Next I added a piece of designer series paper from the Candy Cane Christmas Designer Series Paper package and matted it with Whisper White cardstock.  I used the Real Red Baker's Twine from the Candy Cane Lane Baker's Twine package to wrap around the DSP and tied a perfect little bow (I tied it on a separate piece and used a glue dot to attach it to ensure it was nice and straight!)  The greeting is from the Sunburst Sayings stamp set and was stamped in Early Espresso ink.

The Santa is from the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set and my customer showed me this great idea, by accident, to stamp Santa on Crumb Cake cardstock and then color him in.  We used a White Gel Pen to color in his beard and suit trim and it really makes it pop (more than if he was stamped on Whisper White).  I used the Cookie Cutter Punch to punch Santa out and then attached him with a dimensional.

I just love how cute this little Santa is, he makes me want to pinch his cheek and bite off a leg like a cookie (oh my!)

SSINKspiration Sunshine: Sunburst Sayings

Good morning!  After this weeks crazy storm (if you’re in Northern VA you know what I mean) it was so great to see the return of the sun, even if it’s bringing back the humidity today.  It’s the sunshine that’s inspiration for today’s card I’m sharing on the SSINKspiration blog which is all about sunshine.  Of course I immediately thought of the Sunburst framelit and matching stamp set, Sunburst Sayings, for this card and decided to go from there.

I started with Soft Sky cardstock for the cardbase and then added a layer of Basic Black cardstock as a mat for my Whisper White Cardstock.  On this piece I decided I wanted to make it look like the sky so I punched out the top of the tree from the Tree Builder Punch and then used my sponge dauber and Soft Sky ink to just dab around the cloud template I made repeatedly to make the cloudy sky background.  At the bottom of this piece I stamped the “shine” using the Sunburst Sayings stamp set and Basic Black ink and then took one of the White Perfect Accents and colored it using my Gold Sharpie marker and then attached it as the dot on my “i”.

For the accent piece I started by cutting a scalloped circle out of Tangerine Tango cardstock using the Big Shot and Layering Circles Framelits.  I used crushed Curry for the inner part of the sun and first cut it using the Sunburst Framelit and then using the coordinating circle to fit my scalloped circle.  Before assembling my sun I made sure the stamp the dotted lines for the rays using Tangerine Tango ink.  Gold Glimmer Paper was punched using the 1 3/8” Circle Punch and attached to the sun with dimensionals and then the greeting was stamped on Whisper White cardstock using Stampin’ Write Markers to color in the greeting and then punched out with the 1 1/4” Circle Punch.

I love the contrast of the soft and bright colors with just a pop of black and hint of sparkle, I definitely did the happy dance when I saw the end result (this is the sign that you know the card will certainly brighten someone’s day when you send it!!)

Don’t forget, today’s the last day to take advantage of this month’s Extra Hostess Benefits when you have a party or order over $350 (before tax and shipping).  I know I placed a second order to stop up on adhesive, envelopes, etc. so I could get some extra stampin’ goodies for free.  If you need any help with you order, let me know.

SSINKspriation Occasions Catalog Bundles: Sunburst Sayings

Good morning!  As you know, one of the things I love about Stampin’ Up! is our coordinating products, stamps, punches, framelits/thinlits, papers, etc. when it is designed to work together it really helps take a lot of the guess work out of crafting for us and now Stampin’ Up! offers some of these coordinating products as bundles so we get to save 15% when we purchase the items that naturally go together (bonus!!)  Today over on the SSINKspiration  blog we’re sharing projects made with our favorite product bundle items from the Occasions Catalog.  There are so many great bundles to choose from but I decided to use the Sunburst Thinlit and coordinating stamp set (one, it’s a recent addition to my studio, and 2, the framelit is currently one of the weekly deal specials so if you didn’t want the stamp set you could purchase just the framelit and save some money this week!!)

I started with Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Soft Sky cardstock to mat the Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper and wrapped a piece of Hello Honey 5/8” Striped Cotton Ribbon around the bottom with a knot.

For the main image I used the Big Shot and Sunburst Thinlits Dies and cut a piece of Hello Honey Cardstock.  I used the coordinating stamp set, Sunburst Sayings and stamped the dotted lines on the sunburst using Hello Honey ink. Next I took the Square Framelits collection and some Very Vanilla cardstock and used two framelits to create a frame (and rubbed around the frame with a sponge and Crumb Cake ink.  Next I took a piece of Soft Sky cardstock for the background of the sunburst and aligned it in my frame the way I wanted and trimmed off the excess.

For the center of the sunburst I stamped the greeting also from Sunburst Sayings, using Basic Black ink on Crumb Cake cardstock, punched it out with the 1 3/8” Circle Punch and sponged around the edge with Soft Sky ink.  I used the Circle Collection Framelits and Big Shot to cut a mat for the greeting out of Gold Glimmer Paper and attached both circle pieces to the sunburst with dimensionals (lots of them!!)

This card turned out so bright and cheery (but I’ll admit I stamped the dotted lines on the sunburst after I attached the frame, if I had remembered I would have done it before so it was easier.  Sometimes you just need to let people know that you’re thinking of them and care and this card is perfect for that!  the other design team members are sharing some great cards using their favorite Occasions bundles so make sure to go check them out!
