Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge: Perfect Pennants a Mixture of Old and New

Good morning!  Unfortunately our holiday vacation has come to an end and today we're heading back to school and work (cue sad music).  We had a wonderful time and always hate for our vacations to end.  With our crazy, travel filled vacation I haven't had much crafting time over the past week and a half so I'm looking forward to getting back into the studio for some quality time.

I did have a few moments and I whipped up with fun and fresh card for the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge.  This card is a mix of fun items from the current catalog as well as a sneak peak of a fun new stamp set from the Occasions Catalog that is being released tomorrow (so exciting!)  For this card I decided to go with a square card and the cardbase is Strawberry Slush and then I added a layer of  Soft Suede that was embossed with the Big Shot and the Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder.  The designer series paper is from the Festive Prints DSP package and is in the Holiday catalog so today is the last day to order (love how you can use this paper for non-holiday projects) and is matted on a piece of Pistachio Pudding cardstock.  The ribbon is Strawberry Slush Ruffled Ribbon.

For the main stamped image first I stamped the swirl images from the Everything Eleanor stamp set in Crumb Cake ink and the greeting is from the new Perfect Pennants stamp set and was stamped in Strawberry Slush Classic Ink.  I matted this layer on Strawberry Slush cardstock before attaching it to the card.  For the final decorative elements I added a Pistachio Pudding In Color Boutique Details and used the Tape It stamp set to make the Washi Tape element (it was stamped on Crumb Cake ink with Soft Suede ink before being cut out with Paper Snips).  I attached this element with dimensionals and added a couple of small pearls for the final touch.

I so love mixing the old and new items in this card and am glad I have these products in my stamp studio so I can continue to use them, if you don't have anything from the Holiday Catalog that you love don't miss out and place your order today so you'll have everything you need for your upcoming projects.

Good luck today!

A Quiet Evening Alone....

Good evening! So I'm having a rare evening. Chris and Aidan are enjoying a night out with friends at the Nationals-Phillies game so I had a quiet house all to myself. What am I do with all this new found time? Stamp of course! I started by participating in a training webinar on the new My Digital Software.....this was the first time I had seen the software and I must say, I'm in love! This program is great and I can't wait to get my hands on it.

For this weeks Mojo Monday challenge I decided to embrace the new In Colors. My cardbase used a piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock with a piece of Melon Mambo and Old Olive layered on top. On the Old Olive piece I stamped the flower image from the Razzle Dazzle Stamp set and Old Olive ink.

The 3 pieces of designer paper are all from the Razzleberry Lemonade DSP and shows off some of my favorite patterns. The main stamped image is also from the Razzle Dazzle stamp set which I colored on the stamp with our Stampin' Write markers (don't we all love the new markers in the In Colors??) I used a sponge and the Melon Mambo ink to sponge around the end of the cardstock before using SNAIL to adhere the cardstock to the card.

Crushed Curry Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon is tied around the card and the sentiment was from the All Holidays stamp set with Rich Razzleberry ink.

Hope you all enjoy this card. I just heard the garage door open so I guess my quiet evening has come to a close. Hope you all have an enjoyable weekend and for those of you coming to this weekends Big Shot II class, I'll see you on Saturday!

Cravin' a little Mojo!!!

Hey Ladies!

So it's been quite a while since participated in one of the Mojo Monday challenges but I shut the door to my stamp room last night so I could focus (gotta love it when your 4 year old loves to explore all your stamp supplies!)

This weeks Mojo Monday challenge was a lot of fun and a great way to celebrate the Mojo's 100 celebration. For my entry I decided to use the Very Thankful stamp set and the Kaleidoscope DSP (this paper is a bit out of my comfort zone since I don't normally use all these different Bold Bright colors but it's very sunny and fun and fits the images for this stamp set). The cardbase is Tempting Turquoise and has a panel of Green Galore and the Kaleidoscope stripe paper. Then I used the Regal Rose 5/8" grosgrain ribbon and cut the flag tails (love the ribbon scissors!)

The insert is another piece of Kaleidoscope DSP matted on to Summer Sun cardstock. The stamped image uses the turtle from the Very Thankful stamp set and is stamped on Whisper White cardstock with Basic Black ink. Then I took my Blender pen and Stampin' Pastels to color in the image. I cut out the image with the 1 3/8" circle punch. Then I used the Circle Cutter to cut a mat circle out of Temping Turquoise.

What a little cutie!

Happy Thursday…..

So this weeks Mojo Monday challenge presented an interested dilemma. I don’t normally make cards that are not the standard 4 ¼” x 5 ½” so I decided to make a 3” x 6” card that would fit into our Small Open-End Envelopes (this size is also perfect for giving money)! This dilemma has also caused me post a little late in the week, but it's better late then never.

Anyway, I started with a base of Baja Breeze and added a layer of Parisian Breeze Specialty DSP (I’m so sad this paper is retiring, I love the color combo, prints, as well as the texture!!!!) with a band of 5/8” Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon. Then I used an alternate piece of DSP which was cut to 1” x 3” and was matted with Chocolate Chip Textured Cardstock. I decided to do something different and use my greeting as the focal image, from the Full of Life Stamp set and stamped the birthday saying on a piece of Whisper White which was matted with Baja Breeze Cardstock. I took a little bit of liberty with the challenge layout and moved my embellishment to the bottom right corner (it just looked better). For the embellishment I used 2 different flowers from the Flower Fusion Too Accents and Elements (also retiringL) and attached both of them to the DSP with a Clear Rhinestone Brad.

I like the elegant simplicity of this card, perfect for a birthday of any age. I hope you enjoyed the challenge as well and just think of all the possibilities just by substituting different DSP and stamps.

You Take the Cake....Mojo Monday Challenge

So I'm kind of enjoying these design challenges and since it's so rainy and gloomy this morning I had to make a cheery card, and what's better than a birthday! Today's challenge is Mojo Monday and one thing I really like about these challenges is that they provide the layout and it's up to you to create your own unique interpretation.

Today's card was created with the Party Hearty stamp set and Sweet Always DSP. It's not too challenging a card which is great for the start of the week.

Hope you enjoy and have a great day!
