30 Days of Gratitude Card Challenge: Day 28 Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!  I hope you are all spending the day relaxing and enjoying friends and family.  We're spending the weekend with friends from college that we get together with every year, the kids enjoying playing together and we always go out shopping for Black Friday after the big feast.  I decided for today's gratitude card I would share the card I made for our family.  I really like to send cards to our family for most holidays (St. Patrick's Day is about the only I don't do) since our family is spread out and can't always get together.  This card starts with a cardbase of Cajun Craze and then adds a piece of Pool Party cardstock and then Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper.  The greeting is from the Truly Grateful stamp set and is stamped in Soft Suede.

For the leaves I cut one out of Soft Suede cardstock with the Autumn Accents Bigz die and the Big Shot and then embossed it with the Woodgrain Embossing Folder.  I also stamped the leaf from the Magnificent Maple stamp in Cajun Craze and cut it out with Paper Snips.  The final touch was a cut little acorn that was cut out with the Autumn Accents Bigz die, twice, once in Chocolate Chip cardstock and then with the Champagne Shimmer paper for the top (I love this treatment to add a little sparkle).  I did run the Chocolate Chip piece through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dot Embossing folder for some additional texture and used a dimensional to attach the acorn so it pops up.

The great thing about this card is not only is it simple and pretty but it's pretty flat and "mailable" which is perfect.  Well I'm off to watch some football and relax, enjoy and I'm so thankful for all my friends, family, and customers for all your love and support, it really means a lot.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hey There Magnificent Maple

Good morning and we made it to the end of another week, and this one's a cold one.  I'm really excited about this weekend, it's the last weekend of fall baseball season and while I love watching Aidan and the boys play, this mamma is ready for the season to be over and have a little break, so we have a game tonight and then one more Saturday morning and then we can hang up the cleats for now.  All this time spent outside really has me in a fall frame of mind so all projects seem to be leaves and fall colors.  I originally made this card for a challenge and then realized I didn't really follow the challenge but I thought I would share it with you anyway.

The cardbase is Sahara Sand and I ran it through the Big Shot with the Pretty Print Embossing Folder.  Next I added a piece of the wood texture paper from the Thankful Tablescape Simply Create Kit (this is one of my favorite items in the kit because of the texture) and matted on a piece of Crushed Curry cardstock that I sponged around the edge with Sahara Sand Ink.  Next I wrapped a piece of Chocolate Chip Chevron Ribbon around the panel before attaching it to the card.

The leaves are stamped with the Magnificent Maple stamp in Chocolate Chip and Cajun Craze ink, cut out with my Paper Snips and then sponged with more Chocolate Chip ink to add some depth.

The greeting is from the Paper Pumpkin Welcome Kit and was colored with Stampin' Write Markers before punching it out with the Large Oval Punch and Matting on a piece of Cajun Craze that was punched with the Decorative Label Punch.

This card is so fun and warm, it's perfect to let someone know you're thinking of them.  I hope you enjoy and have a great weekend, which hopefully has lots of family, and a little crafting time (and try to stay warm).

Fab Friday Sketch Challenge: Falling for Tags 4 You

Good evening and I hope you had an enjoyable Labor Day weekend!  We had such a relaxing time, Aidan got to enjoy the pool before the end of the season, we hosted a soda float party for some wonderful friends and neighbors, Mommy and Daddy each got some time at home to relax, and we even went up to Baltimore and enjoyed a nice dinner in the Inner Harbor.  I was also excited to be able to send some quality time in the studio and had lots of fun playing with some of the fun new products in the Holiday catalog.

For this weeks Fab Friday Sketch challenge I decided to make a fall card since we all know the days of the hot weather will soon be ending.  The products in the fall suite are so awesome and work fabulously together.  I started with a cardbase of Pool Part and I sponged around the edge with Crumb Cake ink (I'll just say it now, I sponged pretty much every layer with Crumb Cake to help soften them).  Next I added a piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock before the Very Vanilla layer.  This piece was stamped with the Magnificent Maple stamp and then randomly with the splatter from the Gorgeous Grunge set (I love this set and am using it all the time right now!!!)  Next I added a piece of Sweater Weather designer series paper that was matted on Crushed Curry cardstock.

For a fun accent I added pieces of Natural 7/16" trim and Early Espresso 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon.  The greeting is from the new Tags 4 You stamp set and coordinates perfectly with the matching Label Bracket Punch.  I used dimensionals to make sure the greeting really pops.

This card was so fun and has lots of different elements that work so well together.  This is such a fun, simple sketch make sure to check it out and see what you can come up with.

Hope you have a great week and good luck with the first day of school tomorrow!

Thanks,

Diana
