30 Day Gratitude Challenge: Day 3

Good morning!  It’s only fitting that with the arrival of fall and the leaves changing that we use the beauty in nature as inspiration for crafting so I decided to use it for today’s 30-Day Gratitude card challenge.

I started with Early Espresso cardstock for the cardbase and then used Very Vanilla cardstock for the main background piece.  To create this I started by stamping the leaves using the Vintage Leaves stamp set using Blackberry Bliss, Mossy Meadow, Cajun Craze, and Hello Honey ink.  After stamping I ran it through the Big Shot and embossed it with the Brickwall Embossing folder.  After embossing to really help the embossing pop I sponged all over the cardstock using Soft Suede ink.

The greeting is from the Six Sayings Hostess stamp set and was stamped with Cajun Craze ink on Very Vanilla cardstock and then matted with Early Espresso cardstock.  For a fun embellishment I stamped two more leaves on a scrap of Very Vanilla cardstock, cut them out with the Big Shot and coordinating Leaves Framelits and then sponged them after crumbling them up.  I attached the leaves with dimensionals to the cardfront and then tied a knot using the Mossy Meadow 5/8” Stitched Cotton Ribbon and attached it with a glue dot.

We actually made this during Just Cards class last month and it was a lot of fun to create this fun background effect with some stamps, embossing, and sponging.  This card is so pretty and has lots of texture that really makes you want to reach out and touch it.

SSINKspiration Hostess Stamp Set Focus: Six Sayings

Good morning!  I was completely wiped after this weekends race and am still recovering, I wasn’t even able to step foot in the studio (so sad).  By now you know how much I’m in love with this years Holiday catalog (it really is awesome) and one of the areas that I really love are the hostess sets that are available under the Holiday Catalog (they are perfect!!)  Today on the SSINKspiration blog we’re sharing some ideas using the hostess sets available (both in the Idea Book and Catalog as well as the Holiday Catalog).  It was an easy choice for me to showcase the Six Sayings stamp set from the Holiday Catalog.

I started with Basic Gray cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Very
Vanilla cardstock and I stamped the greeting from the Six Sayings hostess stamp set in Momento Tuxedo Black ink (I used the stamp repeated all over the cardstock to create a patterned paper).  Next I took a sponge and lightly smudged it with Basic Black ink (I actually used my sponge I had used previously and didn’t add and new ink and had just the right amount). Next I added a piece of designer series paper from the Happy Hauntings Designer Series Paper Package and crumpled it up first for some added texture.  Next I used one of the decorative strips from the Treat Bag Thinlit set and the Big Shot to cut the strip of stars out of Basic Black cardstock and added a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper for a hint of sparkle.

I created the cute potion bottles using the Sweet Hauntings stamp set and stamped on Rich Razzleberry, Tangelo Twist, and Basic Gray cardstock before cutting them out with Paper Snips and attaching the outer two with dimensionals.  For a final touch, I had a remnant piece of the 1 ¼” Burlap Ribbon sitting on my desk so I decided to attach it to the cardfront to look like a wooden shelf for the bottles to rest.

I love how this card turned out!  The sayings from the hostess set make the perfect background and the potion bottles, stars, and glitter add lots of fun!  Make sure to check out the other design team cards, you’re going to love these sets and want to host your own party so you can get any of these sets for FREE (make sure to stay tuned there will be a special hostess incentive starting on Friday, October 9 that will make it an even better time to have your friends over for a party!)

Sketch Frenzy Friday Sketch Challenge Meets SSINKspiration Friday Favorites: Six Sayings

Happy Friday!  What a crazy week (I wish I could say this is unusual but it’s getting to be “normal” but with the end of the fiscal year is bringing a little extra stress to the mix that hopefully will only be for a few more weeks).  We have a few activities this weekend and I’m so excited for the Witching Décor class on Saturday, this project is so cute and I know the ladies will really enjoy it!  It was fun to take a break from everything and get in the studio to make my card for this weeks Sketch Frenzy Friday Sketch Challenge.  I decided to have this do double duty and combined this with our Friday Favorites post over on the SSINKspiration blog.  I have lots of favorites but today I decided to show the Deco Labels Framelits cutting out the perfect holiday greeting in the new Six Sayings Hostess stamp set (there are sayings for every upcoming holiday so you really should try to get some friends together for a fun party so you can get this set for FREE!!)

I started with Soft Sky cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Night of Navy cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and the Polka Dot Embossing Folder.  I added a strip of Season of Cheer Designer Series Paper.

The greeting (it reminds me of a Christmas sweater) is from the Six Sayings stamp set and I used Stampin’ Write markers to color on the stamp before stamping on Whisper White cardstock and then cutting the greeting out with the Big Shot and Deco Label Framelits.  The greeting was attached to the cardfront with dimensionals.  For a fun accent I took one of the new wooden Snowflake Elements and used a sponge dauber to apply some Whisper White Craft ink to color snowflake and then added a rhinestone to the center for the final touch of bling.
This is my first time using this stamp set, but certainly not my last I love all the greetings they’re so different from each other and will be fun to play with.  The snowflake elements are also really easy to work with; you can use them as is, color them with ink, glitter, etc.  The design team is also sharing some great designs so go check them out and come play along.
