SSINKspiration 2018-2020 In Colors: Label Me Pretty

Good morning!  I hope you're enjoying all the fabulous new items in the Annual Catalog, I know I am.  One of the highlights of the annual catalog for me is always the new In Colors, I love to see new colors to freshen up our color pallet and the 2018-2010 In Colors do just that.  Today the SSINKspiration designers are sharing projects that show off these new In Colors that you are sure to fall in love with.

When I saw these colors they immediately screamed rainbow to me and used to love drawing rainbows as a kid so I wanted a card to show the rainbow effect with these new colors. 

I started with Lovely Lipstick cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Basic Black cardstock as a mat for the Whisper White cardfront.  On the cardfront I used the Playful Backgrounds stamp set to build my rainbow using Lovely Lipstick, Grapefruit Grove, Pineapple Punch, Call Me Clover, and finally Blueberry Bushel and I really like the effect of stamping the open circles so it kind of looks like bubbles.

For the greeting I used the Label Me Pretty stamp set and stamped the label piece in Call Me Clover ink on Call Me Clover cardstock and then punched it out with the Pretty Label Punch.  The greeting was stamped in Grapefruit Grove ink on Whisper White cardstock and then punched out with the 1 3/8" Circle Punch.  I did sponge around the edge with Pineapple Punch ink before attaching the greeting to the label with a dimensional.  To finish off the card I attached some Blueberry Bushel 1/8" Grosgrain Ribbon and Mini Silver Sequin Trim to dress it up and look tails on a ribbon.

These colors are so bright and fun they are perfect to just let someone know they're special anytime, or maybe a special occasion like a graduation which are big this time of year.  Either way it's sure to brighten someones day!

30 Day Gratitude Challenge: Day 12 (Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Challenge)

Good evening!  I've been so fortunate this weekend to have a quiet house while the boys have been camping which means lots of crafting time and I scheduled a few classes so I had so fun company in the studio which I enjoy.  This weekends projects have been all about Christmas so for today's gratitude card I wanted to change things up and used the Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Challenge for this fun everyday card which has lots of elements to dress it up but isn't fussy.

I started with Lemon Lime Twist cardstock for the cardbase and then added a layer of Fresh Fig cardstock as a base for the Whisper White cardfront.  On the cardfront I added some embossing paste by coloring it with Pumpkin Pie reinker and then using the Pattern Party Decorative Mask and Palette Knives to spread the paste on the part of the cardfront I wanted and then set it aside to dry.

For the main image I decided to make a fun looking drink using the Jar of Love stamp set and coordinating Everyday Jars Framelits.  After stamping the greeting and jar outline in Basic Black I used the Playful Backgrounds stamp set to stamp the bubbles in Versamark and heat embossed them using White Embossing Powder and after heating it with the Heat Tool I sponged all over the cardstock with Lemon Lime Twist ink.  I used Silver Emboss Powder for the lid and attached the lid with dimensionals.

Before attaching the jar to the cardfront I added some Silver Metallic Thread peaking out from one side and some Fresh Fig 1/2" Finely Woven Ribbon out the left side.

These colors are fun and fresh and make me think of summer fun (as cold as it's been this weekend summer seems like it was a long time ago, haha!)

SSINKspiration Card Sketch SSINKCS42: One Wild Ride

Good morning and welcome to a new Monday!  We had a weekend full of adventure that was interrupted when sickness decided to pay us a visit so we spent most of Sunday to relaxing and letting Aidan rest up (poor kiddo, hate when they get sick).  With the start of the new week brings a new challenge over on the SSINKspiration blog, this time it's a card sketch.  I had fun designing this sketch and then decided to use a new stamp set from the annual catalog, One Wild Ride, and turned the sketch on it's side.

I started with Sahara Sand cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Island Indigo cardstock and stamped along the right side using the Playful Backgrounds stamp set (this set has some great, versatile set that has lots of uses).  Next I added a piece of designer series paper from the Pop of Pink Speciality Designer Series Paper set.

For a fun accent piece I took a piece of Silver Foil Paper and embossed it with the Big Shot and Hexagons Dynamic Embossing Folder (I love the look of embossing this folder with the silver foil since it looks like diamondplate which fits with the "dude" vibe on this card!)


For the main stamped image I stamped the motorcycle using Basic Black ink on Whisper White cardstock and then cut the image out with the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits.  To help ground the motorcycle I stamped the gravel look along the bottom of the oval using Smoky Slate ink.  The greeting is from the same stamp set and after stamping it I punched it out with the Duet Banner Punch and then sponged around the edges before attaching both the banner and the oval using dimensionals.

Boy what a fun stamp set this is, lots of different options and this set lets you get a little "edge" into your crafting.  Make sure to check out the other cards the design team is sharing using this sketch as inspiration and then we would love for you to pay along and share what you create!

Fab Friday Color Challenge: Jar of Love

Good morning!  How is the first week of school for your family?  Aidan is really enjoying starting middle school, I think the highlight has been getting assigned his first locker!!  While we were away on vacation last week one of my coworkers "fish sit" for Aidan's two Beta Fish (Captain America and Ironman) and they were a hit in the office getting lots of visitors to keep them company.  After picking them up we decided to do something special so we baked cookies and Aidan wrote a thank you card, which of course I had to make.  I decided to use the Fab Friday color sketch using two of the new 2016-2018 In Colors for this fun card.  I was so excited when I saw the fish image in the Jar of Love stamp set since was perfect for this occasion and the jars kind of remind me of the tanks the beta fish live it (their tanks are bigger though).

I started with Pool Party cardstock for the cardbase and then added a layer of Whisper White cardstock for the cardfront.  On this layer I used some Pool Party ink and the Playful Backgrounds stamp set to stamp the circle images which remind me of bubbles.  I also stamped the greeting from the Jar of Love stamp set using Dapper Denim.  I also added a strip of Peekaboo Peach striped paper from the 2016-2018 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack and matted it with Dapper Denim cardstock.

For the stamped image I started by stamping the medium jar image using Basic Black ink and cut it out with the coordinating framelits (this stamp set and framelits are available as a bundle for a discount).  Next I used a sponge and some Pool Party ink to lightly colorwash the background and then stamped the sample "bubble image" using Dapper Denim ink which was stamped off once to slightly lighten the color.  To make the lid for the jar I stamped it with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with Silver Embossing Powder and the Heat Tool.  For the fish, I used Stampin' Write Markers to color directly on the stamp and tried to blend the color a little to mimic the look of the fish.  I used a framelit to cut out the fish and then attached the fish and jar lid to the jar using dimensionals.  Before attaching the jar to the cardfront I took some silver thread and looped it behind the jar so it just peaks out for a little texture.

This card is so cute and I think is perfect for this occasion and to be given by Aidan, it's fun.  I love all the different options with the Jar of Love bundle, so many uses!

Fab Friday Sketch Challenge: Confetti Celebration

Good morning! What an exhausting and enjoyable weekend.  Aidan is safe and enjoying time with the grandparents and Chris and I were able to enjoy “kidless” time which is rare, plus I had lots of fun stamping with my ladies yesterday (best way to spend a super hot day, in the cool studio creating!!)  It’s back to work today and I decided to play along with the Fab Friday Sketch Challenge to make a birthday card for a guy friend.  I tend to struggle with these since I enjoy them but I tend to use the same stamps and color themes so they get to be similar.  I liked thi sketch when I saw it as a great opportunity for a new design.

I started with Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardbase and then added a layer of Dapper Denim Cardstock as a matt for the Very Vanilla cardfront.  Along the side of the card front I used the Timeless Textures stamp set to stamp with Soft Suede ink along the left side of the cardfront.  Next I used the Playful Backgrounds stamp set and Dapper Denim ink to stamp the lines in the center of the card.

The greeting is from the Confetti Celebration stamp set and was stamped with Soft Suede ink on Crumb Cake cardstock.  For a little flair I took a piece of Soft Suede cardstock and ran it through the Big Shot with with one of the accent dies from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits to cut out the strip of stars and then placed a piece of Gold Foil Paper behind it so the gold peeks through.  The final touch was to add a few gold sequins from the Gold Sequin Trim as fun accents to bring it all together.

I realize that I used 3 different stamp sets on this card but they worked so well and made the card come together really quickly which I like.  I’m going to have to remember this sketch for future cards as I like the minimalist look to it, and I’m sure our friend will enjoy his card!

SSINKspiration Technique Challenge #SSINKTC35: Watercolor Resist Bab Greetings

Good morning!  We survived the hot and humid weekend and even got to check out the new Star Trek Beyond movie, which we loved.  With the start of the new week it's time for another challenge over on the SSINKspiration blog, this time it's a technique challenge and we're using Watercolor Resist as the technique.  I love this technique, not only since we have some fun UV treated papers that already have printed designs ready for color, or you can make your own using heat embossing.  Hubby had a coworker who recently had a baby and I've been working on the baby gift which of course means we needed a card.

 

I started with So Saffron cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock as a mat for the Whisper White cardfront.  For the background of the cardfront I used the Playful Backgrounds stamp set and stamped using Pool Party ink.  The greeting was stamped directly on the cardfront using Basic Black ink and the Suite Sayings stamp set.

 

For the main image I started by stamping the cute rubber duck from the Something for Baby stamp Stampin' Write Markers before stamping on Whisper White cardstock.  I cut it out using Paper Snips (since I don't have the Baby's First Framelits but they coordinate so cutting out the baby images are super easy).  Next I used the new Jar of Love stamp set and stamped the medium jar using Basic Black ink on Whisper White cardstock and then cut it out using the Big Shot and Everyday Jars Framelits.  To create the technique background I started by stamping the same bubble image from the Playful Backgrounds set using Versamark ink and heat embossed it using the Heat Tool and White Emboss Powder.  To color in the background I used Pool Party ink and swirled it to create a water look effect (so fun and easy).  I attached the duckie in the jar using a dimensional.  To make the lid for the jar I heat embossed it using Copper Emboss Powder.  The final touch was to add some Copper Metallic Thread looped behind the jar and then attached the jar to the cardfront.

 

I love how this card turned out and how you can use a couple of little techniques and embellishments t elevate the card without going over the top.  There are so many great ways to use this technique for the perfect effect on any project you have so check out the other projects the design team is sharing and then play along and share what you come up for even more ideas.
