Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Challenge: Lovely Inside & Out

Good morning and FriYay!!  To get all the weekend fun started I decided to play along with this weeks Hand Stamped Sentiments color challenge which shows off three of our classic colors that don't always get a lot of love and I don't think I've ever used all together before so it was fun to see what I could come up with.

I started with Thick Whisper White cardstock for the cardbase and then added a layer of Always Artichoke cardstock as a mat for the So Saffron cardfront.  On the so Saffron piece I used the Embossing Paste, Palette Knives, and the Pattern Party Decorative Masks to add this fun brick design along the left side (don't worry if you don't get it perfect or fill in every brick, a rustic look is what I was going for).  Then I wrapped a piece of Night of Navy 1/2" Gingham Ribbon around the cardfront and tied a bow.

For the main image I started by cutting out the "lovely" heart outline using the Big Shot, Lovely Words Thinlits, and Silver Foil paper.  To cut the heart out I used the Sweet & Sassy Framelits which coordinate with this heart thinlit.  I used the same solid heart die to cut a piece of Night of Navy cardstock and then embossed it with the Big Shot and Pinewood Planks Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder (I sponged all over the embossing with Soft Suede ink to help highlight the embossing).

The final touch was to stamp the rest of the greeting so I used the Lovely Inside & Out stamp set and stamped on Whisper White cardstock with Always Artichoke ink and then punched it out with the Classic Label Punch (I did also sponge around the edge of this piece with Night of Navy ink).  Dimensionals were used to attach the pieces to the cardfront and just like that, card complete.

I really had playing with different elements to showcase these colors and love the result.  I'm starting to work on holiday card ideas for upcoming classes and am thinking about trying to use this same color combination to make a country themed holiday card, will see what I can come up with, haha!

Fab Friday Sketch Challenge: Better Together

Good morning!  One of the great things about our designer series papers are the wonderful prints that will really fit any use you may need.  This is especially true of the Delightful Daisy Designers Paper and when I saw this weeks Fab Friday sketch challenge I thought it would be perfect for showing off this beautiful paper and letting it be the star of the card.

I started with Tranquil Tide cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock as a mat for the beautifully watercolored DSP.  The greeting is from the Better Together stamp set and was stamped with Tranquil Tide ink on Whisper White cardstock before being cut out with the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits.  A mat was cut using Crumb Cake cardstock and the Layering Ovals Framelits and the greeting was attached to the cardfront with dimensionals.

The final touch...a double bow tied with Calypso Coral 1/8" Sheer Ribbon.

This card is soft and pretty, despite the bright colors thanks to the watercolor look of the DSP and is perfect for any time of year!  We just found out that starting October 1 there will be a DSP sale and this is one of the packages that's included in the sale so it will be perfect to stock to be ready for projects throughout the year!

SSINKspiration Coffee Break: Merry Cafe

Good morning!  After enjoying a wonderful weekend, I'm convinced we really need a third day in our weekends so there is a little bit of relaxing!  Getting  back to the work week I know a lot of people who will be relying on their favorite coffee beverage to help get the going so it's perfect that the SSINKspiration designers are sharing projects made in honor of our favorite coffee breaks.  I don't drink coffee but I know I needed to have this stamp set in the annual catalog, along with the new stamp in the holiday catalog.  Today I decided to use the Merry Café stamp set for a nice fall card in honor of the ever popular pumpkin spice invasion, haha!

I started with Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock as a mat for the designer series paper from the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper pack.  I decided to dress the DSP up a little by stamping the leaf image from the Colorful Seasons stamp set (using Pumpkin Pie ink that was stamped off once for a little lighter effect).  Next I added another piece of DSP that was matted with Early Espresso cardstock in the center of the cardfront.

I know people get very excited about the holiday coffee cup design that Starbuck's offers every year so I decided to create a fall designed cup by stamping the cup outline from the Merry Café stamp set directly on a piece of the designer series paper.  I stamped the lid on Very Vanilla cardstock and cut both pieces out with the coordinating Coffee Cups Framelits dies.  I used the die to also create the little stirrer top out of Early Espresso cardstock.

The final touch, a coffee cozy for the cup which I cut out of Cajun Craze cardstock and I stamped the greeting, loved this saying "Hello Fall, it's Pumpkin Spice Latte Season".  I wanted to add some extra leaves so I stamped the little leaf from the Colorful Seasons stamp set a few times using Old Olive ink and then used the coordinating solid stamp to color them in using either Pumpkin Pie or Old Olive ink (both stamped off once) and then cut them out with Paper Snips.

I love this card, it makes my want to curl up by a fire with cozy socks and a fuzzy blanket (I would be drinking cocoa or hot apple cider, but you get the feeling.  I also love that we have a second stamp set that coordinates with these framelits to stretch their value.  Make sure to check out the other cards the design team is sharing, it will make you want to grab a cup of coffee with a friend.

RemARKable INk Big Blog Hop: Halloween Happenings!!

Happy Sunday!  I hope you're enjoying a wonderful weekend and getting a little crafting time.  We've been on the go a lot but wanted to share this fun Halloween card along with the other designers on the Remarkable Ink Big Blog Hop, it's all about Halloween!  There are so many fun Halloween projects in this years Holiday catalog you'll find just what you need.  The cat punch and coordinating stamp set have certainly been one of my favorites!

I started out with Whisper White Thick cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Basic Black cardstock for the mat of the Spooky Night Designer Series Paper.  Directly on the DSP I stamped the spiderweb corner elements using the Merry Café stamp set.  Next I stamped the cat image from the Spooky Cat stamp set using Pumpkin Pie ink and then taping around the edge of the stamp with Basic black ink before stamping on Whisper White cardstock.  I cut out the image with the Cat Punch, along with another piece using Basic Black ink and offset them a little for a slight shadow.  To finish up the cat I wrapped a piece of Basic Black Baker's Twine around the cats neck and then tied a bow with the Baker's Twine and added it to dress up his next.

Next I took a strip of Crumb Cake cardstock and ran it through the Big Shot with the Pinewood Planks Dynamic Embossing Folder and then sponged all over with Soft Suede ink to create a wooden shelf.  I stamped some of the potion bottles, also from the Spooky Cat stamp set, and colored the bottles in using Watercolor Pencils and a Blender Pen and then cut the bottles out with Paper Snips.  I used  a dimensional to just attach the center bottle set for a little extra dimension.  I'm totally in love with the new Basic Black Rhinestones and added several to the tops of the potion bottles to look like bubbles.

The final touch was to add the greeting so I stamped it in Basic Black ink on Whisper White cardstock and cut it out with the Classic Label Punch.  Before attaching the greeting I sponged all over the piece with Pumpkin Pie ink to soften it up and then used dimensionals to attach the greeting.

I had so much fun making this card and adding lots of little elements to enjoy and with so many different images in these stamp sets it really helps stretch their versatility.  We have one more week of September and then Halloween will be here before we know it so it's not too early to start planning your card and project ideas.

Check out the other great projects the hop designers are sharing:
