Hand Stamped Sentiment Sketch Challenge #295: Ribbon of Courage

Good morning!  It's the last day of July, how is that possible?  We're cruising through this year which doesn't seem possible.  My son's away at camp this week so I've enjoyed some extra time and quiet in the studio to play.  Today I'm sharing a card that serves double duty, it uses the new Hand Stamped Sentiments sketch challenge and the Proverbial Stampers Color challenge which shows off three of the great new colors we have in our collection.

I started with Balmy Blue cardstock for the cardbase and Highland Heather cardstock for the cardfront.  On the cardfront I used the Artistically Asian stamp set and stamped a couple different elements using Highland Heather and Granny Apple Green ink.  After finishing the stamping I ran the cardstock through the Big Shot and using the Simple Stripes Embossing Folder (make sure you stamp before embossing, much easier!!)

Then I took a piece of Wood Textures Designer Series Paper and added a mat using Granny Apple Green cardstock as belly band for the card.

For the main stamped image I used the Ribbon of Courage stamp set and Stampin' Write Markers to color directly on the stamp before stamping on Whisper White cardstock before cutting it out with the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits.  Before attaching the greeting to the cardfront with dimensionals I added several loops of Silver Metallic Thread to peak out.

To add a final little touch I stamped the small flower from the Ribbon of Courage stamp set and colored it in with Stampin' Blends and Stampin' Write Markers using the challenge colors and then used Paper Snips to cut out the flower and used a mini dimensional to attach the greeting to the card.

I really love our stamp sets with different element designs, like splotches, dots, etc. which allow you to help build texture and dimension on a card without adding bulk.

Also, just a reminder, today is the last day of the Buy 3 Get 1 Free Designer Series Paper sale and the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper I used today is one of the items included in the sale, so stock up now!

Make sure to check out the other cards the design team is sharing using this sketch and then play along with us, we would love to see what you create.

SSINKspiration Christmas in July: Blended Seasons

Good morning!  We may still be in the heart (and heat) of summer but it's fun to remember that we are less than 6 months way from Christmas, whoo hoo!  To have a little Christmas in July fun the SSINKspiration team are sharing projects to start getting you thinking about the holidays.  I decided to use the soon to be released (starting August 1) Blended Seasons stamp set and coordinating Stitched Seasons Framelits.  Please note these products, which are also available as a bundle for 10% savings are only available through August 31 while supplies last so you won't want to wait to place your order.

I started with Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Early Espresso cardstock for the cardfront (not I did run this piece through the Big Shot using the Stitched Seasons Framelits so I could get the stitching outline on the outside of the my greeting (this is the first framelit set we have that adds the stitch effect on both the inside and outside of the die, very cool.  Next I added a piece of Under the Mistletoe Designer Series Paper (remember this paper is part of the Buy 3 Get 1 Free sale going on through tomorrow so there's just a little bit of time to save!)

For the main stamped image I cut out the label piece using Crumb Cake cardstock and then stamped the greeting in Early Espresso ink.  I did stamp the holly design using Memento Black ink so that it wouldn't run when I colored it.  To color in the image I used the new Watercolor Pencils Assortment 2 which is also being released with this special later this month, but note these pencils may make an appearance in a future catalog, and used my blender pen to color.  Once I was done I used dimensionals to attach the piece to the cardfront and then tied a bow using Whisper White 5/8" Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon and added 3 Red Rhinestones to the center to mimic the berries in the holly.

This card is so festive it was fun getting a head start on holiday cards and with this new bundle you have options for cards for all occasions to extend it's versatility.

SSINKspiration Favorite Annual Catalog Bundle: Stitched All Around

Good morning!  I'm so excited that it's Friday.  It's time for some family shenanigans before Aidan heads of to his next summer camp adventure.  I've been sharing projects all week using the Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper and today I decided to use that paper along with the Fab Friday color challenge to make this card for the SSINKspiration blog where we're showcasing our favorite bundles from the annual catalog (crazy to squeeze so many things into one card, that's multi-tasking).

I started with Powder Pink cardstock for the cardbase and then took a piece of Tranquil Tide cardstock and embossed it with the Big Shot and Basket Weave Dynamic Embossing Folder before adding a strip of the Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper (this is one of those beautiful floral borders that's included in this paper package and perfect for a little accent.

For the main element I used the Stitched All Around stamp set and stamped the greeting in Mossy Meadow ink on Whisper White cardstock.  The frame was cut out using Mint Macaron cardstock, Big Shot and the Stitched Labels Framelits to cut the large frame.  Then I cut out the center of the greeting and distressed the edges so it had a torn effect and sponged around the edge with Tranquil Tide ink so the greeting is peeking out from the center (there is a sample in the annual catalog that did this effect and I really liked it).

To finish off the card I tied a bow using Powder Pink 3/8" Shimmer Ribbon and attached it to the cardfront.

There is really nothing I don't like about this card, the colors, patterns, and textures all really dress up the card and bring a smile to my face.  I've shown lots of different patterns and uses for the paper included in the Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper, I don't know of any reason for you not to buy it, and since it's included in this months Buy 3 Get 1 Free DSP it's the perfect time to add this paper to your collection.

Petal Promenade Framed Birthday Greetings

Good evening!  It was so nice to get a little reprieve from all the rain we've been having and let the sun come out.  Today I'm sharing another card using the Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper that shares the sunny feeling.  One of the unique features of this designer series paper is it has pages that different shaped frame elements as well as borders for a fun effect.  I used one of these frames to make this quick card.

I started with Mint Macaron cardstock for the cardbase and then added Rich Razzleberry as a mat for the designer series paper frame.

For the main element I took a piece of Shimmery White cardstock and did a simple watercolor wash using Mint Macaron, Flirty Flamingo, and Rich Razzleberry Reinkers and an Aqua Painter.  Once the paper was dry I used the Big Shot and Happy Birthday Thinlits die to cut out the greeting and then attached it.

I was so happy with how this card turned out the perfect mix of color and texture and this paper is perfect to just add a little something extra.  Don't forget the Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper is part of this months Buy 3 Get 1 Free sale and is my featured Product of the Week.

Blinged out Petal Promenade Celebration

Good morning!  It's been so dark and dreary the past few days, very unsummer like so I'm loving that I'm playing with the Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper as it's full of bright, rich colors that just make me happy.  For today's card I decided to make it nice and easy so there's no stamping involved but really loves the designer series paper shine.

I started with Very Vanilla Think cardstock and then added a piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock as a mat for the Petal Promenade cardfront (remember how yesterday I said I have a hard time using large pieces of DSP on projects, I'm working on it).  I took two pieces of Gold 3/8" Metallic Edge Ribbon and colored with the my Dark Petal Pink Stampin' Blend Marker so the ribbon picked up the color in the cardfront.

For the greeting I used the Big Shot and Celebrate You Thinlits to cut the word "celebrate" out of Gold Foil Paper.

This card is really simple because of all the gold accents and rich patterns and colors this card really WOWs and would be perfect for a wedding, birthday, shower, etc.  Don't forget the Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper is part of this months Buy 3 Get 1 Free special as well as my featured Product of the Week and any orders placed this week through me that include this DSP will receive three handmade cards from me for FREE!
