Fab Friday Color Challenge: Big News

Good morning, I can't believe it's the start of another week.  Why is it that our weekends go so quickly, I guess it's all the fun.  I'm away this week but I still have lots to share with you, so I hope you make sure to check them out.  Today I decided to play along with this weeks Fab Friday Color Challenge.  This color challenge was to use all the new 2014-2016 In Colors.  I have to admit I really do like lots of color combinations with these colors but I wouldn't normally think to use all five in one project so I had to stretch a little here.  For the cardbase I used Blackberry Bliss and then added a piece of Whisper White cardstock and I stamped a rainbow effect along the bottom half of the card using the Chalk Lines Photopolymer stamp set (I love that this set is photopolymer so you have no issues getting them lined up perfectly and you can even bend the stamps to create fun effects.

For the main stamped image I used the Big News stamp set and stamped the greeting in Tangelo Twist and then colored in some of the letters with different colors.  I matted this with Mossy Meadow cardstock.  I used some Hello Honey 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon and also added a cute little birthday candle that I stamped and then cut out with paper snips and attached it with dimensionals.

This turned out to be a really fun card that shows off all these great new colors, I'm so glad we have two years to love and play with them.  You should make sure to check out this blog and see all the other great cards the players are sharing, it's a great way to get inspired.

Scrappy Saturday: 15, I'm Back!

Good afternoon!  I hope you're enjoying your weekend.  So I have to admit, I've gotten a little behind on my weekly scrapbooking this month with all of the end of school and start of summer activities, but I'm not giving up and I'm back at it.  The great thing about My Digital Studio is I was able to bring my laptop on vacation and was able to not only organize some of my pictures on the computer but also completed two different scrapbook pages on one of our flights yesterday (until my battery died).  This page was a lot of fun, I used a photo only layout which kind of reminds me of the Project Life style of memory keeping and then I was able to add the background, text, and embellishments for a fun page that shows all the fun from our Cub Scout Family Camp outing from earlier this week.

Sketch Frenzy Friday Sketch Challenge: Be the Star

Hello Friday, I've been looking forward to you for months, it's the start of vacation, whoo hoo!  We're looking forward to a fun week with family and lots of relaxing, perfect.  Before we head out I wanted to share my card for this weeks Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch challenge.  This was a really fun sketch that really leaves a lot to play with and interpret.  With some wonderful new DSP in this years catalog I decided to make the DSP the focal point of the card, in this case I used the Confetti Celebration Designer Series Paper for the pattern and color selection.

I stared with Strawberry Slush for the cardbase and matted the DSP with some Basic Gray cardstock.  The greeting is from the Really Good Greetings stamp set and I used my Stampin' Write Markers to color in the stamp before stamping.  Then I cut the cardstock to be a flag and sponged around the edge with Pumpkin Pie ink.  I was so excited to see several different star products in this years catalog that all coordinate with each other, I've been a little obsessed with with (just wait until you see).  These stars are from the Be the Star stamp set and I used the coordinating Star Framelits to cut out both stars so they were super simple.  The larger star was stamped on Pumpkin Pie cardstock with Pumpkin Pie ink (I did add a star Rhinestone from the 2013-2015 In Color Sequin Embellishments.  The smaller star is stamped in Bermuda Bay ink on Whisper White card stock (I did use a dimensional to attach the smaller star).

I have to admit these are not colors that I would not normally combine together but I have to say, I really like how they work together, it's fun to step outside our comfort zone.  I hope you take the time to see some of the other projects the design team is sharing and then come play along.  I can't wait to see what you come up.

Summer Fun: Giggle Greetings

Good morning!  The first few days of summer have been great and we're having a lot of fun.  In honor with the start of summer today on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog the design team is sharing lots of great ideas for summer fun.  There are so many quintessential summer things, one of which is all the great fruit so I decided to use the bowl of cherry stamp from the Giggle Greeting stamp set.  The cardbase of this card is Coastal Cabana and I added a piece of Whisper White cardstock that I stamped the greeting from the Yippee-Skippee stamp set in Real Red ink.  I decided to add a couple of banners, one of which uses Real Red DSP from the Brights Designer Series Paper Package and another is Coastal Cabana that I embossed with the Big Shot and the Arrows Embossing Folder.  I used a piece of the fabulous new 1/2" Rich Razzleberry Cotton Ribbon to tie a know that is lots of fun (you've got to feel the texture of this ribbon, awesome!)

For the stamped image I used my Black Stampin' Write Marker to just color in the cherry bowl so I didn't get the text that is part of the stamp.  Then I punched it out with the 2" Circle Punch and made a mat with Rich Razzleberry cardstock and the 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch.   I used my Stampin' Write Markers and a blender pen to color in the stamped image and the whole piece is attached to the cardfront with dimensionals.

I really like how bright and cheery this card is which really matches all the fun that summer entails, perfect for lots of summer celebrations.

Sketch Frenzy Friday Sketch Challenge: Giggle Greetings

Good morning and Happy Friday!  School is officially out and we’re looking forward to a relatively quiet weekend is rare so I’m looking forward to some extended stamping time, in addition to relaxing with friends.  To help get the creative juices flowing I wanted to start the day by sharing my design team card for this weeks Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch challenge.  I really like this sketch and decided to use it for an upcoming birthday card with a bit of fun and whimsy.  The cardbase is Tempting Turquoise Cardstock and I used a piece of Sweet Taffy Designer Series Paper and matted it with Smoky Slate Cardstock.  The main focal image is from the Giggle Greetings stamp set (I love the fun images and sayings, they make me laugh!)  I colored in the images with Stampin’ Write Markers and matted the piece with Rich Razzleberry Cardstock.  I used some Old Olive 1/8” Taffeta Ribbon for the strip around the card and for the bow.

The greeting in the top right corner is from the Remembering Your Birthday stamp set (the saying is for a belated birthday card but I really liked the font and size so I used my Stampin’ Write Marker to just ink part of the stamp to get the words I wanted.   I punched this piece out with the Modern Label Punch, trimmed off part of the right side and attached it to the cardfront with dimensionals.  For a final touch of bling I decided to take one of our half pearls and colored it with the new Rich Razzleberry Blendability Markers (these markers are not quite ready for sales release but you will love them, they’re alcohol based and blend wonderfully (plus you can color directly on our pearls and rhinestones for custom colored elements, which I love!)  Stay tuned for more information and the release date on these new tools.

I really love all of SU’s colors but I think at hear I’m really a Brights girl so this DSP and colors are so fun and I’ll definitely be using it for lots of more projects in the future.  I hope you enjoyed my take on this sketch.  We would love for you to join us and play along with the sketch, it’ll help jump start your creative juices (and you can use this for scrapbook pages, décor items, etc. in addition to cards.

Fab Friday Sketch Challenge: Perfect Blend Meets Paper Pumpkin

Good morning!  We’re in our first “official” heat wave of the summer which is perfect since it really helps get me in the mood for swimming, ice cream, picnics, and all the other classic summer fun.    Today I’m sharing a card I made for this weeks Fab Friday sketch challenge and if full of lots of fun colors that really make me think of summer.  I started with a Crumb Cake Cardbase and added a piece of Calypso Coral DSP from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Pack for a fun background.  The greeting is from the May Paper Pumpkin Kit (I love the exclusive stamps that come in these kits that can be used for all sorts of projects after the kit projects are completed).  The Whisper White stamped layer is matted with Basic Black and Old Olive Cardstock and I used the Tape It stamp to create a washi tape look using the colors in my card.

I decided to change things up on this sketch and instead of having a fewer small objects long the side I added one of the coffee cups from the Perfect Blend stamp set.  I stamped the cup several items on Whisper White and Crumb Cake cardstock with the new Memento ink so I could use the Old Olive Blendability Markers to color in the cup (stay tuned for more information on these fun tools that are coming soon).  I used Paper Snips to cut out the cup, lid, and collar to piece it together and used dimensionals for the lid so it has more dimension.

This sketch was a lot of fun and you can really take it in lots of different directions, depending on the stamps, and or punches you may decide to use (I know I’ll be playing with layouts with similar elements in the future).  If you haven’t given the Paper Pumpkin program a try I highly encourage you to it’s so fun to get predesigned projects delivered to your door each month for easy crafting.  Plus, now you can order prepaid subscriptions that you can keep for yourself or give as gifts and not only will you save off the subscription prices for the 6 and 12 month options but you can add these products to workshops or catalog orders so you can earn hostess benefits with this purchase (which is awesome!)  I’m going to buying one of these for my own personal Paper Pumpkin membership so ask me if you have any questions and I can get you started for next month.  Also, if you want a sneak peak at some of the Paper Pumpkin products at this Sunday’s Just Cards Class, June 22, attendees will be making projects using Paper Pumpkin kit elements that you are sure to love so RSVP soon to reserve your spot.
