Sketch Frenzy Friday Sketch Challenge: Mingle all the Way

Happy Friday!  Are you just loving the new Holiday catalog as much as I am?  I have so say, we got to see it at convention last month and I knew immediately I was in trouble, I needed the “I Want it All Button!”  Of course that’s not realistic so I decided to start first with Halloween and Fall products since those holidays are coming up first and the Fall Fun Framelits are AMAZING!

For this card I started with Sahara Sand cardstock and then added a piece of Motley Monster Designer series paper (too cute!) that was matted with Basic Black cardstock.  The greeting is from the Mingle All the Way stamp set, another favorite, and was stamped in Tangerine Tango ink, cut out with the Big Shot and Circle Collection Framelits, and matted with a Bermuda Bay circle.

Of course I need more spooky fun so I added a ghost I made using the Fall Fest Stamp set and coordinating Fall Fun Framelits (do you know you can purchase both these items as a bundle and save 15%?).  I used some White Stazon Ink to stamp the ghost on Basic Black cardstock before cutting him out with the framelit, so easy! For a final accent I added two pieces of trim, Natural 5/8” Chevron Trim (it’s awesome that this ribbon only is printed on one side for double the possibilities) and the new White & Tangerine Tango Two Tone Trim.

There are so many fun products to help you make wonderful projects for all your fall and holiday projects, I know I have so many ideas in my head I just need the time.

Make sure to check out all the other great projects the design team is sharing and come play along with the sketch, so many possibilities.

Also just another reminder that you only have a few more days, until Sunday to take advantage of the amazing Big Shot special where you can get a stamp set and framelit bundle for FREE when you purchase a Big Shot or save 15% on the selected  bundles if you already own a Big Shot, this is not to be missed!
Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration New Catalog Fun: For all Things

Happy Thursday!    Today's an exciting day, not only is today the official release of this year's holiday catalog, which is beyond amazing but today the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog designers are sharing some wonderful projects using products from the new catalog to provide some great inspiration.  The first products I bought when we demonstrators could start ordering from the holiday catalog was the fall product suite, I see lots of great ideas that I can't wait to create.

The cardbase for this card is Sahara Sand and then I added a piece of DSP from the Color Me Autumn Designer Series Paper.  Next I created the background stamped image using the For All Things stamp set on Very Vanilla Cardstock and used the Rock & Roll Technique on the larger leave and Stampin' Write Markers to color in the acorns.  This piece was matted on Cajun Craze cardstock.

For the main stamped image I started by stamping the watercolor stamped image from the For All Things stamp set in Sahara Sand ink and then used Stampin' Write Markers to color in the greeting directly on the rubber.  This piece was punched out with the Big Shot and Oval Collection Framelits and I used the same framelits to cut the mat out of Mossy Meadow cardstock and then embossed it with the Woodgrain Embossing Folder.  Of course I had to add some extra bling to this card there are some great new items that play with product from our annual catalog so well.  I started with a piece of 1/4" Burlap Ribbon and I cut the sewn border of the ribbon and took a couple strips of to make the ribbon smaller and more distressed.  I also added a little piece of 3/8" Blackberry Bliss Stiched Satin Ribbon.  The final touch was a new Gold Button and I tied a bow using Linen Thread in the center.

Fab Friday Theme Challenge - For Baby: Label Love

Good morning to the last week of summer before the kids go back to school next week.  We always choose to vacation this last week as a last hooray to summer and let’s be honest, vacation places are usually not as crowded and not as expensive which is also a plus.  Today I decided to play along with the Fab Friday challenge group and they had something fun this time.  One of the designers, Mindy, recently had a baby to today it’s a theme challenge “baby,” which is lots of fun.  I know Mindy had a boy but we have lots of friends having girls so I made my card in girl colors so I can use it right away.

For this card I started with Crisp Cantaloupe and then I added a piece of Whisper White cardstock and used the Hearts and Stars mask to sponge some stars on the white with Crisp Cantaloupe ink.   I used the Big Shot and Decorative Dots Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Baked Brown Sugar cardstock and then sponged the piece with Baked Brown Sugar ink so the embossing really pops.  I added a piece of Lullaby Designer Series Paper and matted it with Hello Honey cardstock.  I used some of the Baked Brown Sugar and Crisp Cantaloupe Thick Baker’s Twine to wrap around the DSP layer and then tied a nice thick bow.

For the greeting I used the Label Love stamp set and stamped it twice, once on Whisper White cardstock and Crisp Cantaloupe ink and punched the center out with the 7/8” Scallop Circle Punch and the second time on Baked Brown Sugar cardstock with the same color ink before punching it out with the Artisan Label Punch.  This makes a great layering effect and dimensionals really help it all pop.

This card is so cute and a great way to welcome a new little one to the family. Do you know friends or family who are expecting?  I love making baby cards and also like to make thank you cards for the expecting parents as a special gift so they’re all prepared when they receive gifts.  There is something special about taking the time to hand write a note of appreciation, I know it’s something my mom taught me and I’m teaching Aidan (I even write him thank you notes for gifts so he doesn’t think there are double standards).

Scrappy Saturday: Convention Project Life Fun

Good morning and Happy Saturday!  I know it's been awhile but I'm back with another addition of Scrappy Saturday and I have 4 pages to help make up for my absence.  One of the wonderful new products that Stampin' Up! released with the new catalog is Project Life by Stampin' Up!  This is a whole new way of memory keeping and is perfect for those of us who are busy but want to keep our photos and memories so they are safe and we can look at and enjoy them.  In addition to the pocket pages we have accessory kits and card packages which made this system so easy.  I made the 4 pages below in about 15 minutes using the 6x8" insert pages and some elements that we made a convention events. In addition there are Big Shot items used (the mustache, embossing, etc) punches, ribbon, and baker's twine to make it unique.

These are the first Project Life pages I completed and I love how they turned out, they definitely will not be my last.

I would love to share the Project Life by Stampin' Up! system with you and your friends, we can have a personalized girls night in party that would be lots of fun, so contact me to schedule your date.

Before I end I thought I would leave you a picture of where I'm spending the day today, Castaway Cay which is Disney's private island in the Bahamas.  This is just one of the reasons we love Disney cruising so much.

Have a great weekend,

Diana

Sketch Frenzy Friday Sketch Challenge: Amazing Birthday

We've reached another Friday, whoo hoo!  We're thorough enjoying our cruise and just relaxing today.  Of course I couldn't leave you without any creative inspiration so today I have a card that's doing double duty.  I made this card for the Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch challenge and the Amazing Birthday stamp set showcase on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog (love when you can cover two things with one!)  This card I made for a family friend and it has lots of fun elements that completely put it over the top.

I started with a Real Red Cardbase and then added a piece of Maritime Designer Series Paper (love this bold print!) and I wrapped some Whisper White Baker's Twine around the DSP and then used another piece of twine to tie a knot so the twine would come together in the middle.  I also added three small Pearls to the top left corner of the DSP that I had colored with one of my Coastal Cabana Blendabilities markers.

For the main focal piece I used lots of different stamps from the Amazing Birthday stamp set.  I stamped the banner on Coastal Cabana cardstock and cut it out with Paper Snips.  I stamped the other different sayings using just pieces of the stamp (coloring just the piece I needed with Stampin' Write Markers) and then cut them out with Paper Snips as well.  Of course you can't miss that fabulous star.  I cut it out using Silver Glimmer Paper, the Big Shot and the Star Framelits.  Next I used the Stampin' Trimmer and the scoring blade to score on each of the points so I could crease them and make the star be three dimensional.  I used a couple of Glue Dots to attach the star (note,  didn't attach all five points of the star to the card so that when I mailed the card the star would give and was easy to mail.

I have to say, I completely love this card (I was inspired by a project we made a convention this year using the same stamp set and star and knew it would be perfect to wish someone a special birthday.  Make sure to check out all the other fabulous projects the designers on these two blogs are sharing for even more inspiration.

Have a wonderful Friday and make sure to come back, I have something fun to share tomorrow as well.

Happy stamping,

Diana
