Fab Friday Theme Challenge - For Baby: Label Love

Good morning to the last week of summer before the kids go back to school next week.  We always choose to vacation this last week as a last hooray to summer and let’s be honest, vacation places are usually not as crowded and not as expensive which is also a plus.  Today I decided to play along with the Fab Friday challenge group and they had something fun this time.  One of the designers, Mindy, recently had a baby to today it’s a theme challenge “baby,” which is lots of fun.  I know Mindy had a boy but we have lots of friends having girls so I made my card in girl colors so I can use it right away.

For this card I started with Crisp Cantaloupe and then I added a piece of Whisper White cardstock and used the Hearts and Stars mask to sponge some stars on the white with Crisp Cantaloupe ink.   I used the Big Shot and Decorative Dots Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Baked Brown Sugar cardstock and then sponged the piece with Baked Brown Sugar ink so the embossing really pops.  I added a piece of Lullaby Designer Series Paper and matted it with Hello Honey cardstock.  I used some of the Baked Brown Sugar and Crisp Cantaloupe Thick Baker’s Twine to wrap around the DSP layer and then tied a nice thick bow.

For the greeting I used the Label Love stamp set and stamped it twice, once on Whisper White cardstock and Crisp Cantaloupe ink and punched the center out with the 7/8” Scallop Circle Punch and the second time on Baked Brown Sugar cardstock with the same color ink before punching it out with the Artisan Label Punch.  This makes a great layering effect and dimensionals really help it all pop.

This card is so cute and a great way to welcome a new little one to the family. Do you know friends or family who are expecting?  I love making baby cards and also like to make thank you cards for the expecting parents as a special gift so they’re all prepared when they receive gifts.  There is something special about taking the time to hand write a note of appreciation, I know it’s something my mom taught me and I’m teaching Aidan (I even write him thank you notes for gifts so he doesn’t think there are double standards).

  1. Totally Sweet! I love the Crisp Cantaloupe for a girl card instead of a true pink! Thanks for sharing at Fab Friday!
