Hand Stamped Sentiments Sketch Challenge 247: Spooky Fun

Happy Friday!  I'm heading to a three day crop today and I'm so excited to get away with a friend and have some fun girl time, which lots of uninterrupted crafting (plus there is always so much inspiration from the other attendees it's fabulous!!!)  Before I head out I decided to play along with this weeks Hand Stamped Sentiments sketch challenge and since I had Halloween supplies out on my desk my eye was immediately drawn to all the fun I could have with those circle elements.

I started with Old Olive cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Basic Black cardstock as a mat behind the brick piece which is from the Halloween Night Speciality Designer Series Paper (this paper is fabulous and works great for the background all on it's own).  I stamped the greeting from the Spooky Fun stamp set in Pumpkin Pie ink directly on the DSP and then wrapped some Pumpkin Pie baker's twine from the Halloween Nights Baker's Twine package for a fun element.

Next I moved on to the circles.  I started by punching the middle circle using the 1 3/4" Circle Punch and another pattern from the DSP package (these houses are so cute) and then attached it with a dimensional.  On the right I used the 1 3/8" Circle Punch to punch a piece of Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper and then used the edgelits that coordinate with the stamp set, Halloween Scenes Edgelits to cut the little bat out of Basic Black cardstock and then attached the bat with a dimensional.  For the left circle I again used the 1 3/8" Circle Punch and stamped the tombstones and bat using Basic Black ink and then used Stampin' Write Markers to color it in before attaching it the cardfront.

This card looks really complicated but using all the products in the Halloween Nights product suite make it a breeze and so fun!  Halloween projects are definitely on my To Do list at the crop this weekend so I'm looking forward to make several more items with all these products and can't wait to share them.

SSINKspiration Technique Challenge #SSINKTC37: Tile Effect Vintage Leaves

Good morning and Happy Monday!  After a crazy busy week (they seem to all be like that lately) it's time for another challenge SSINKspiration blog to start the week and this time it's a technique challenge. These challenges are always fun to get us trying new ideas and techniques and see how we can use them on projects.  This month's technique is the tile effect and it's so easy and pretty cool.

I started with Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardbase and then added a layer of Soft Suede cardstock behind the Night of Navy cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and Cable Knit Dynamic Embossing Folder.  Next I added a piece of Petals & Paisleys Speciality Designer Series Paper and cut it out with the Big Shot and Lots of Labels Framelits.

For the stamped image I started by taking a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and scored it every 1/2" on both sides using the Stampin' Trimmer to create my tiles and then stamped it with the Vintage Leaves stamp set and inks to coordinate with the DSP and then matted it with Cajun Craze cardstock.  The greeting is from the Basket of Wishes stamp set and was stamped in Night of Navy ink on Very Vanilla cardstock and then cut it out with the Big Shot and Layering Ovals Framelits before attaching it to the cardfront with dimensionals.

For the final touches I added a little piece of the 5/8" Burlap Trim and then a knot tied with the 3/8" Mint Macaron Sheer Linen Ribbon.

The tile look is great for this fall themed card and I love all the great colors in this designer series paper that really makes it versatile.  The other design team members are sharing some fun cards using this technique so go check them out and then we would love for you to play along with us and share what you create.

SSINKspiration Favorite Accessory: Cable Knit Dynamic Embossing Folder

Happy Friday!  Today on the SSINKspiration blog we're sharing our favorite accessories (it's hard to pick just one, there are lots of fabulous ones).  Today's card was one we made at this month's Just Cards class and showcases the wonderful new Cable Knit Dynamic Embossing Folder (this folder is like nothing we've offered before and creates the most beautiful, rich texture I just want to touch it).

I started with Pool Party cardstock for the cardbase and then added a layer of Marina Mist cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and Cable Knit Dynamic Embossing Folder.  Next I added a piece of This Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper that was matted with Basic Black cardstock.

The stamp greeting is from the Tin of Tags stamp set and was stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock with Marina Mist ink before cutting it out with the Big Shot and Layering Circles Framelits.  Before attaching the greeting I added a little piece of Pool Party Stitched Satin Ribbon to peek out with little tails.  The final touch was to cut a small star out of Silver Foil Paper using the Big Shot and the Stars Collection Framelits (a dimensional was used to attach the star for added dimension).

I wanted to make a card that didn't use the traditional red and green colors and change things up and these colors with the texture and patterns really work together (black snowflakes, go figure).  This is actually a card that has a lot of pop but isn't super complicated so you could easily make this in multiples and is definitely post office friendly (which is perfect for the holidays).  The other design team members are sharing projects using their favorite accessories so make sure to check them out for fun!

Fab Friday Color Challenge: Cookie Cutter Halloween Treats

Good morning!  It's finally beginning to feel like fall and this past weekend when I was in the studio I spent the majority of the time making different fall holiday themed projects.  For one of these projects I used the Fab Friday color sketch as my inspiration and made this cute little treat wrapping to give some yummy Ghirardelli chocolate squares (Milk Chocolate Pumpkin Spice Caramel and Dark Chocolate and Bourbon, which I think is perfect for fall).

I started with the new gusseted 3"x6" bags which are the perfect size for these chocolates.  I used a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock for the bag topper and stamped my greeting using  the Suite Seasons stamp set and Early Espresso ink.  I used the Mini Stapler to attach the bag topper to the bag and seal it.

Isn't this little scarecrow cute?  I used the new Cookie Cutter Halloween stamp set and coordinating
Cookie Cutter Punch to make this little guy so cute and then used Stampin' Write markers to color him in using the color sketch colors (along with a little Cajun Craze for an accent).  After coloring the scarecrow in I looped some Copper Metallic Thread behind him (reminds me of straw) and then attached it to the bag topper with dimensionals.  For a final touch I made a double bow using some Emerald Envy Solid Baker's Twine and attached it to the bag topper with a glue dot.

This turned out so cute and was really easy to put together.  I'll definitely be making more of these and with the Cookie Cutter images in different holidays they will be good for all sorts of holiday treats!

Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge #211: Scenic Sayings

Good morning!  With the boys away camping this weekend I was able to have a relaxing Saturday that included a lot of quality crafting time with a friend (awesome).  One of the items I made was this card for this weeks Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge.  I had the greeting stamped on a scrap piece of paper and decided to build the card around this already stamped image (uses up one of the items in my scrap pile which always feels good).

I started with  Sweet Sugarplum cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Emerald Envy behind the Whisper White cardfront.  To this piece I added a couple strips of designer series paper from the 2016-2018 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack as well as a couple of pieces of washi tape from the Pop of Pink Washi Tape set.

The greeting is from the Scenic Sayings stamp set and was stamped in Sweet Sugarplum ink on Whisper White cardstock and then cut out with the Big Shot and Layering Circles Framelits.  I cut a scalloped circle mat using the same framelits and Dapper Denim cardstock.  Before attaching the greeting with dimensionals I added some loops of Silver Thread peaking out from the circle.

For the decorative elements in the top corner I started with some Silver Glimmer Paper and cut out a star outline using the Big Shot and Star Collection Framelits (you can use both framelits at the same time to cut out the outline).  The final touch was to add a few enamel dots from the 2016-2018 In Color Enamel Dots set.

The embellishments are really the stars of this card and really help make it pop.  Love how our products coordinate so well together making projects quick and easy to make!!

SSINKspiration 3D Projects: Spooky Fun Tasty Treats!!

Happy Friday!  We've reach the end of the week and we're starting to see signs that fall has arrived and I'm really excited to get into the fall frame of mind.  The guys are heading out for a weekend of Boy Scout camping so mama has the house to herself for a little bit of peace and quiet (whoo hoo!) and I have some fun planned with a friend.  With the arrival of fall I always first look towards Halloween and all the fun, and treats that come along.  Today on the SSINKspiration blog we're sharing 3D projects and I decided to share this quick and easy Halloween Treat that is perfect to give that little ghost or goblin in your life (and who doesn't love Peeps???)

I was so excited when I saw these small package of Halloween shaped Peeps I knew it would be perfect to get dressed up with some of the gorgeous products from the Halloween Nights Products Suite in the Holiday catalog.

I started by taking a piece of Halloween Nights Speciality Designer Series Paper (this paper is gorgeous, and two sheets have silver foil accents that will just knock your socks off!!) and I matted it with some Basic Black cardstock before wrapping it around the Peeps packaging and gluing it with some Tear and Tape Adhesive.  Next I wrapped some Halloween Nights Baker's Twine around the box and tied a knot.

For the tag I used the awesome new Cheerful Tags Framelits and the Big Shot to cut the tag out of Basic Gray cardstock (love that all the detail and score lines were done for me!!).  Next I took another framelit from the set and some Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper to cut this beautiful swirly piece that I glued inside the tag so it just peeks out.  I used the Spooky Fun stamp set to stamp the bat and tombstones using Basic Black ink on Whisper White cardstock and then cut them out with the coordinating Halloween Scenes Edgelits (available as a bundle so you save 10%) and then colored them in with Stampin' Write Markers.  For the moon I stamped it on Crushed Curry cardstock, sponged it with some Pumpkin Pie ink and then punched it out with the 1 3/8" Circle Punch.

Once I attached all my pieces I stamped the greeting in Basic Black ink and then tied the tag to the box using a couple more pieces of Baker's Twine for a fun double bow.

This really came together quickly so you could easily make this in multiples for gifts.  I already know what Aidan is giving his teachers for Halloween (we like to give all scented hand soap so they can use it all the way through Thanksgiving and it's not sweets that they may get a lot of) and I'm going to use these framelits and products to make the tags so it'll be quick and fun!

SSINKspiration Blog Hop: Mystery Bog Hop

Good morning!  With the end of summer vacation we’re settling into the school/work routine that includes lots of activities, scouts, baseball, TKD, etc. that keep up on the go and enjoying every moment.  This also means I’m getting a little more regular crafting time in the studio that is oh so welcome and needed (for my sanity!!)  Today over on the Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspiration blog it’s time for our monthly blog hop and this month’s theme is mystery supply challenge.  We’ve done these in the past and boy are they fun.  We each send another team member three items (stamped images, designer series paper, ribbon, accessories, etc.) and then we have use those three items to make a project.  I have to say this month I was stumped when I got my goodies from Darcy.  She sent me some accessories from the holiday catalog and then stamped images from the Sitting There stamp set, including a little cat and dog, that really made me think (and I had to be careful since I don’t have this stamp set I couldn’t retry if I messed up, which I did my poor dog just not workout).
As you hop along, please be sure to comment and show some love on every blog! We are always excited to hear from our followers! You should have just left stop number #1 on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Blog Hop - Darcy at Dj's Stampin' Place. If so, you are in the right spot. If a link doesn't work or you get off track, you will find the full blog hop lineup below.

I started with Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardbase and then added a Basic Black mat behind the piece of Designer Series Paper from the Warmth and Cheer Designer Series Paper Stack (I like how there are lots of patterns in the pack that aren’t strictly holiday prints and can be used year round).  I also added the small strip along the middle (this happens to be the print on the reverse of the star pattern piece) and tied a couple pieces of Gold Twine from the Baker’s Twine Trio Pack (also in the holiday catalog) and then tied a bow.

For the stamped images (which were already provided I colored them in using Stampin’ Write Markers.  Full strength markers were too strong for my cat (learned that on the dog image) so I used a Blender Pen to color her in to make it lighter and then added several different layers of slightly darker colors to add some texture.  I cut out both the basket and cat and attached them to a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock that I cut out with the Big Shot and 2” Circle Punch.  The cat was attached with a dimensional so she looks like she’s sitting in the basket.  I cut a mat for the image using Basic Black cardstock, the Big Shot and Layering Circles Framelits and embossed it with the Elegant Dots Embossing Folder for some texture.

Here’s a close up of my coloring of the cat

The greeting is from the Jar of Love stamp set and stamped the greeting with Real Red ink on Very Vanilla cardstock before cutting it out with the Layering Ovals Framelits.  I did sponge around the edge with both Crumb Cake and Basic Black ink for a fun effect before attaching it with dimensionals.
Here are the supplies Darcy provided
So what do you think? I enjoyed using a mixture of Holiday and Annual catalog items to show the versatility of the products and thinking outside of the box and I had fun with the coloring, but I definitely need to work more at that.  I still think this would be well received by a friend when I want to let them know I’m thinking of them, don’t you?

SSINKspiration Card Sketch SSINKCS37 Meets Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Challenge: Petite Petals

Good morning!  After a sweltering hot start the weekend we had a little bit of relief yesterday, maybe a preview of the fall to come.  I was able to spend the afternoon stamping with the ladies and we had a lit of fun learning a new technique and enjoying some of the fabulous new holiday products.  It's back to the week which means it's time for another card sketch over on the SSINKspiration blog.  I really love card sketches as it helps me come up with new layouts and ideas to change things up.  I also decided to combine this card sketch with the Hand Stamped Sentiments color sketch which uses three of the fabulous new 2016-2018 In Colors.

I started with Flirty Flamingo cardstock for the cardbase and then added a layer of Dapper Denim behind the Whisper White cardfront that was embossed with the Big Shot and the Festive Embossing Folder.  Next I added a piece of Sweet Sugarplum designer series paper from the 2016-2018 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack across the middle.

For the three circle elements I cut out three Whisper White circles and coordinating scalloped circles using the Big Shot and Layering Circles Framelits.  I decided to use the Petite Petals stamp set (which I haven't used in quite a while) and stamped three flowers in each Sweet Sugarplum, Flirty Flamingo, and Dapper Denim on Whisper White cardstock and then punched them out with the Petite Petals Punch.  I attached the flowers with just a little glue in the center so I could curl up the petals for some dimension.

The greeting is from the Sweet Cupcake stamp set and was stamped on Flirty Flamingo cardstock using Dapper Demin ink and then cut it out with the Big Shot and Layering Ovals Framelits.  The greeting was attached with dimensionals and the final touch was to add a small bow tied with Dapper Denim 3/8" Ruched Ribbon (I love the look and texture of this ribbon!!)

The bright cheery colors and patterns are so fun to send special birthday wishes, can't wait to mail it out!  Make sure to check out the other cards the design team created using the card sketch, there's so many different options you're sure to find something to inspire you and then we would love for you to play along with us and share what you create.

Project Life Hybrid Card: Something for Baby

Happy Friday!  The end of summer has brought the promise for fall and all the things we enjoy (even if the heat hasn't quite left yet) but there are some things we get to enjoy all year along, including the arrivals of new bundles of joy.  So it's always good to have baby cards on hand for when you get to welcome new little ones.  The Project Life by Stampin' Up! Hello Baby Card Collection and coordinating accessories not only make for great memory keeping but also for other projects, including cards and was the main background for today's card.

I started with Mint Macaron cardstock for the cardbase and then cut down a card from the Hello Baby Card Collection to provide lots of color and detail for the cardfront.  I wrapped a piece of Mint Macaron 5/8" Mini Striped Ribbon and tied it in a know.

For the stamped image I used the Something for Baby stamp set and stamped the baby buggy in Basic Gray ink before cutting it out with the Big Shot and Layering Circles Framelits.  Every baby buggy needs a little bling so I added a couple Crushed Curry Enamel Dots (from the Regal Enamel Dots Package) and attached it to the cardfront with dimensionals.

The greeting is from the Badges and Banners stamp set and was stamped in Mint Macaron ink.  I don't have the new banner punch that coordinates with this stamp so I just cut it out with Paper Snips and attached it with dimensionals.

I like how quick and easy this card is (they all don't need to be over the top and detailed to still be appreciated and convey happy greetings.

SSINKspiration Holiday Bundle Meets Paper Players Theme Challenge: Spooky Fun

Good morning!  The great thing about holiday weekends is that then you get a shorter work week which is always nice.  Today I have another combo project for to share.  I used the Paper Players Theme Challenge (circles) to make my favorite Holiday Bundle project for the SSINKspiration blog.  Unfortunately I wasn’t able to play with my holiday catalog preorder items as much as I would have liked with all our August activities but I’ve had a couple of chances to play with the new Spooky Fun stamp set and coordinating Halloween Scenes Edgelits and I’m in love!!  The images in the stamp set are so cute and I love not having to cut them out with snips thanks to the ease of the edgelits.

I started with Pumpkin Pie cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of  Old Olive cardstock behind my Whisper White cardfront.  On the cardfront I started by stamping the large spider web image from the Goulish Grunge stamp set in Basic Black ink.  I used the brick wall image from the same stamp set and Tip Top Taupe to stamp the partial wall a couple of times in the background.  Next I took a piece of Halloween Night Specialty Designer Series Paper to cut a circle using the 1 3/4 “ Circle Punch.

Next I started building my scene with the edgelits, Basic Black for the fence line, Tip Top Taupe for the spooky tree (which I added to a circle I cut out of Basic Gray cardstock using the Big Shot and Layering Circles Framelits and trimmed to fit).  I stamped the outline of the flying witch and the three pumpkins on Whisper White cardstock and used my Stampin’ Write Markers to color them in before cutting them out with dies from the edgelits set.  The witch was attached with a dimensional so she stands out a little.

The greeting is from the same stamp set and after stamping it with Perfect Plum ink I cut it out using the Tags and Labels Framelits (I cut it twice to get the scalloped edge on both sides and then trimmed it down  before sponging around the edge with Basic Gray and attaching it to the cardfront with a dimensional).  The final touch, a few Halloween Night Enamel Dots which were the perfect touch to make the colors pop.

I really had a lot of fun with these bundle items and have lots of other projects in my head after using them (now just to find the time to get them all made, haha!!)  Make sure to check out the other great projects the design team members are sharing using their favorite bundles from the Holiday Catalog (but be warned, it may make you have to place an additional order so you can have items that didn’t make your first order).

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Color Challenge SSINKCC37: Pun Intended

Good morning and Happy Labor Day!  We were so happy that the storm that was predicted to impact our weekend weather didn't give us more than cooler, breezier days.  With the start of the new month comes fun, new challenges over on the SSINKspiration blog, starting with today's color sketch.  These colors are perfect for the arrival of fall and was fun to play with since I haven't used this combo before.  It was also about time to play with one of the great new hostess sets in the 2016-2017 Annual Catalog, Pun Intended.

I started with Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardbase and then added a layer of Garden Green cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and Lucky Stars Embossing Folder.  Next I added a piece of Chocolate Chip designer series paper from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack and matted it with Crumb Cake cardstock.  A piece of 5/8" Whisper White Organza Ribbon was wrapped around the layers and cardfront before tying a knot.

For the main stamped image I used the Pun Intended Hostess Set and stamped the camera image in Chocolate Chip ink on Whisper White cardstock and then cut it out with the Big Shot and Layering Squares Framelits and then I sponged around the edges with Crumb Cake ink.  I cut a scallop square mat for the camera piece using Cajun Craze cardstock and attaching the piece to the cardfront with dimensionals.

The greeting is from the same stamp set and was stamped in Chocolate Chip ink on Cajun Craze cardstock before punching it out with the Classic Label Punch.  The greeting was attached with dimensionals and I added a couple of Pearls as the final touch.

This was my first time using this set and I love the images and the cheeky sayings, so fun!!  The design team is sharing some other great cards using this color sketch so go check them out for inspiration and then play along with the color sketch (the long holiday weekend is perfect for a little extra crafting time!!)

SSINKspiration Thank Yous Meet Hand Stamped Sentiments Inspiration Challenge: Basket of Wishes

Happy Friday and so excited to start the Labor Day Weekend (even if it means saying goodbye to summer)!  I'm so excited that the Stampin' Up! Holiday catalog has been released, it's one of my favorites every and while I haven't been able to play as much with my preorder as I would have hoped we aren't super busy this weekend so I'm planning some quality crafting time in the studio.  One set from the catalog that has gotten a little inky is the Basket of Wishes stamp set and I thought it was perfect for today's SSINKspiration blog thank you cards post and I decided to use the Hand Stamped Sentiments Inspiration challenge as the starting point for the card (one project double the bang is always a good thing!)

I started with Delightful Dijon cardstock for the cardbase and then added a layer of Soft Suede cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and Woodgrain Embossing Folder (I sponged all over the embossing with Soft Suede ink to highlight the embossing).  Next I added a layer of Petals and Paisleys Speciality Designer Series Paper that was matted with Night of Navy cardstock.

For the stamped image I started by stamping the basket and pumpkin image from the Basket of Wishes stamp set (I love that this set is photopolymer so it's really easy to line up the images for a perfect match) using Soft Suede ink on Very Vanilla cardstock.  I used Stampin' Write Markers to color in the image and used lots of different colors for layering and dimension.  After I was finished I cut out the image using the Big Shot and Layering Squares Framelits and used the same framelits to make the mat using Cajun Craze cardstock.  I added a little piece of Mint Macaron ribbon from the Ribbon 3/8" Trio Pack to peak out the side.

The greeting is from the same stamp set and was stamped with Soft Suede ink on Very Vanilla cardstock before being cut out with the Big Shot and Layering Ovals Framelits and used a sponge and Night of Navy ink to sponge around the edge of the oval.  Both the greeting and stamped basket piece were attached to the cardfront with dimensionals.

This set is so great for nature type cards and so many options, I'm having so much fun with it and know you will too.  The other design team members are sharing some great ideas for thank you cards so make sure to check them out for further inspiration.
