30 Day Gratitude Card Challenge: Day 17

Happy Sunday!  I'm so looking forward to a nice relaxing day with the boys today (we're having friends over to watch the Eagles game which is always a lot of fun).  I've come to the realization that Thanksgiving is less than two weeks away so I wanted to share another great fall card before the season is over.  This card has a Tangerine Tango cardbase and then a layer of Sahara Sand cardstock that I embossed with the Big Shot and the Pretty Print Embossing Folder.  Next I added a couple of strips of Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper along with a piece of Victorian Lace Trim Ribbon.

 

I had a leaf cut out of the Sweater Weather DSP using the Autumn Accents Bigz die sitting on my desk so I decided to use it and just crumpled it up for texture.  For the stamped images I used the Harvest of Thanks Stamp Set and stamped the main image twice, once in Crushed Curry and cut it out with the Big Shot and the Deco Labels Framelits, and again with Chocolate Chip ink and punched out just the turkey center with the 1 3/8" Circle Punch (a dimensional helps the circle pop up from the label).  The gratitude flag is from the same stamp set and was cut out with the Itty Bitty Banners Framelits (I love how easy the framelits make cutting elements out, awesome!).

 

This little turkey is so cute and perfect to let someone know you're thinking of them and appreciate them.  How are you coming along with the challenge, we're half way through and I'm amazed at the card collection I've got, time to get writing and mail these out.

30 Day Gratitude Card Challenge: Day 16

Good evening!  Did you think I forgot to post today's card?  We have been on the go non-stop today but managed to get our family Christmas pictures taken and hung up our outdoor Christmas lights (taking advantage of the mild weather).  This is my first chance to share my card but I do have one and it's a nice and simple one.  I'm back to fall colors and started with a cardbase of Sahara Sand and added a layer of Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper (this paper is so fabulous, I love all the patterns and how they work so well together).  I added another small strip of DSP from the same package and matted it with some Tangerine Tango cardstock. 

 

I wanted to add some texture so I added a piece of Burlap Ribbon (this stuff is one of my favorites, and it's on sale for 25% off now through Monday so make sure to stock up).  The greeting is from the Harvest of Thanks stamp set and I stamped it with Chocolate Chip ink on Crushed Curry cardstock before cutting it out with the Big Shot and the Apothecary Accents Framelits.  I used dimensionals to attach the greeting so it stands up over the burlap.

I like how understated this card is and the texture is so great.  This is a card that you can make several of in no time and by changing out the colors it could be for any occasion, not just Thanksgiving.

30 Day Gratitude Card Challenge: Day 15

Welcome to another Friday, we made it!  I was talking to Aidan yesterday about Thanksgiving and we realized we are now less than 2 weeks again, can't believe it.  For today's gratitude card I decided to play along with the Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Challenge.  This is such a soft, soothing combination which is a nice change.

 

The cardbase is Crumb Cake cardstock and then I added a layer of Whisper White that was stamped with the Creative Elements stamp and Soft Sky ink before matting is on a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock.  Next I used the large flower image from the same stamp set and Crisp Cantaloupe ink to stamp the next layer that was matted with both Crumb Cake and Blushing Bride cardstock.  I added a piece of Soft Sky 1/2" Seam Binding Ribbon and a knot in Crumb Cake 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon.

 

For the greeting I decided to frame it with the ornamental piece from the Creative Elements stamp set, stamped it in Soft Sky ink and cut it out with Paper Snips.  Then I stamped the greeting from the Heard from the Heart Stamp set, stamped with Blushing Bride ink and punched it out with the Large Oval Punch.

This card is nice and pretty and really a change in pace from what I've been working on.  How are you doing with your gratitude card challenge?  Hope you're making progress on your cards, would love to see them.

30 Day Gratitude Card Challenge: Day 14

Good afternoon!  Today is bonus day, you get to posts with projects.  I hope you enjoyed this mornings projects for the Stylin' Stampin' Blog Hop.  Now I wanted to share a coordinating thank you card for my 30 Day Gratitude Card Challenge.  The cardbase is Pool Party and I added a layer of Whisper White cardstock.  The greeting is from the Lots of Thanks stamp set and is stamped in Island Indigo ink.  I took several small pieces of Winter Frost Speciality Designer Series Paper to create flags and then covered up where they're glued with a piece of Smoky Slate Chevron Ribbon.

 

I decided to add a fun decorative snowflake to the center using the Festive Flurry stamp set and coordinating Festive Flurry Framelits.  Between the two layers of snowflakes I added a  glitter circle using the Silver Glimmer Paper and the 1 3/8" Circle Punch.  A rhinestone attached to the center of the snowflake adds the final layer of bling.

 

This card is so pretty in person and easy to put together so you could definately make multiples of this card, either for a Christmas card, thank you, etc.  Hope you enjoy the rest of your day, we only have one more day until the weekend.

I absolutely love the Winter Frost product suite in the Holiday Catalog.  My first project is this beautiful Christmas card that uses the Special Season and Christmas Messages stamp sets.  The cardbase is Pool Party and I added a piece of Winter Frost designer series paper that was matted on Island Indigo cardstock (I used the new Envelope Punch Board to corner round both layers).  I stamped the tree in Smoky Slate and used a Two Way Glue Pen and Dazzling Diamonds glitter to add some bling on the tree.  For the greeting I just inked up the stamp with Stampin' Write Markers so I have all the colors.  This layer is matted with Bermuda Bay cardstock.  The final touch was to add a piece of Smoky Slate Chevron Ribbon along with a Bermuda Bay Button and a bow of Island Indigo Baker's Twine.

Of course I had to make a coordinating treat holder and I love these metal tins that are perfect for 12 nuggets (that I wrapped in DSP).  This tin came together really quickly, I added some DSP along the edge of the tin and created a belly band with Island Indigo Textured Cardstock, Winter Frost DSP, and some Whisper White Organza Ribbon.

For the tag I stamped the snowflake from the Festive Flurry stamp set and cut it out with the Big Shot and Festive Flurry Framelits.  I cut the smaller snowflake out of Silver Glimmer Paper.  The greeting is from the new Christmas Tagables Photopolymer Stamp Set and it was punched out with the Artisan Label Punch.  A little Whisper White Baker's twine is perfect to attach the tag to the tin. 

 

This tin is so cute and they make perfect gifts for neighbors, coworkers, mailman, etc.  Anyone on your list would love to receive it!  I hope you enjoyed this month's blog hop projects.  Remember you can continue on the rest of the blog hop, and if you just started here, don't worry, you can work your way around the full hop.  I love these turned out and I definitely have more on my to do list.

30 Day Gratitude Challenge: Day 13

Good morning and welcome to the midway point of the week!  I decided to make another combo card for today's gratitude card (killing two birds, you know) and as soon as I saw this weeks Create with Connie and Mary Color challenge I fell in love and knew I had to play along.  I decided to make a bright and cheery thank you card perfect for every day.  The cardbase is Coastal Cabana and I added a layer of Real Red and Whisper White cardstock.  The greeting is from the Perfectly Penned stamp set and was stamped on the Whisper White layer.

Next I added a piece of In Color Designer Series Paper that was matted with Smoky Slate.  One of my favorite flower stamp sets (perhaps since it has a coordinating punch) is the Mixed Bunch stamp set and I stamped the outline flower twice in Real Red before punching it out with the Blossom Punch.  I used a bone folder to curl up the petals before gluing them together.  For the center I stamped the circle piece and punched it out with the 3/4" Circle Punch and added a Real Red Candy Dot to the center (these candy dots are so fun and easy to use, plus you can get them in all our core colors, love it!)

This card is so cheery, it would certainly brighten up any one's day, and you could certainly change out the greeting to make it a birthday, thinking of you, etc. card, so easy!

30 Day Gratitude Card Challenge: Day 12

Happy Tuesday!  Today's going to be interesting here in VA, they're mentioning that we may be getting SNOW today, so we'll have to see what happens, this area doesn't really handle snow well so we'll see how it goes, but then again knowing the weather forecast we could see nothing, will definitely liven things up.  Anyway, I'm going back to a fall themed card for today's gratitude challenge. 

 

The great thing about this card is that other than the Sahara Sand cardbase, all the other pieces of this card came from the Thankful Tablescape Simple Created Kit, I really do love all the pieces in this kit.  For the leaf I crumpled it up and then sponged it with Sahara Sand ink so it's more distressed.  To create the ruffled woodgrain ribbon I just added a strip of sticky strip along the card and then folded the paper over and it holds it perfectly.  I love the softness of the linen thread and it's a perfect accent around all the layers of paper and ribbon.  The greeting is the Thankful single stamp (you can get it was a bundle with the Tablescape Kit and save on both!) and I stamped it with Whisper White craft ink.  I made sure to attach the greeting piece with dimensionals so it could stand up over all the ruffles.

 

I was telling some friends this weekend, you really need to give this kit a try, it has some fabulous elements that you can't purchase individually so even if you don't want to make place setting items you can create cards, decor, etc.  It's lots of fun, and everything is cut out for you so it's a breeze to create something fabulous.

30 Day Gratitude Card Challenge: Day 11

Good morning friends and Happy Veteran's Day!  Unfortunately today is not an off day for us so Chris and I are heading into work, at least we had a great and relaxing weekend.  Today I'm excited to share a card I made for this months Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog card sketch challenge.  I decided to combine this challenge with my gratitude card challenge so this is another thank you card.  I used the Birthday Basics Designer Series paper as inspiration for this card.  It starts with a cardbase of Crisp Cantalope and then I added a piece of Raspberry Ribble cardstock.  The designer series paper is matted on Basic Gray cardstock and I used the new Envelope Punch Board to round the bottom corners.

The greeting is from the Chalk Talk stamp set and I inked just the greeting up before punching it out with the 1 3/8" Circle Punch.  It is matted on a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock that was punched out with the Scallop Circle Punch and I used the Chalk Marker to add dots to each of the scallops.  The final touch was to add a piece of Bermuda Bay 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon and some more DSP that was punched out with the Chevron Border Punch.

This card is so cute, it's a great way to let people know how much you appreciate the gift you received for your birthday.  This is a really fun sketch that you'll enjoy so I hope you can play along and share your project on the blog.

30 Day Gratitude Card Challenge: Day 10

Good afternoon, what a beautiful day this is turning out to be.  I really enjoyed by long run this morning, it made it even easier that it was almost 20 degrees warmer than my run yesterday.  I'm looking forward to a nice relaxing day at home today, which means I should get lots of studio time today.  Today I'm excited to share a super simple and elegant card for my gratitude card challenge.  I started with a cardbase of Coastal Cabana and then added flags of designer series paper from the Eastern Elegance DSP pack. 

 

The greeting is from the Million and One stamp set and it's so pretty.  I just stamped the greeting in Costal Cabana and cut it into a flag shape as well.  For a final elegant touch a I added a nice bow tied with the Smoky Slate Chevron Ribbon (I absolutely love the soft texture of this ribbon, it's perfect for cards but I'm really looking forward to using it for gift wrapping this holiday season).

30 Day Gratitude Card Challenge: Day 9

Good afternoon friends! I'm a little late posting this but I had a fabulous Christmas Card class first thing this morning, had so much fun with the ladies and it feels great to have more cards ready to go. I wanted to make sure to share with you my gratitude card for today. It's a pretty simple one but I love the colors. The cardbase is Cajun Craze and I added a layer of Soft Suede behind the Very Vanilla stamped layer. For the stamping I used the Best of Fall set and randomly stamped the leaf in Cajun Craze, Soft Suede, and Crushed Curry before embossin it with the Big Shot and the Lattice Embossing Folder.

Next I added some Crushed Curry Chevron ribbon which is so soft. The greeting is from the same stamp set and I cut it out with the Big Shot and the Apothocary Accents Framelits before attaching it with dimensionals. The final touch, a couple of small pearls on the edge.

It's a beautiful day here in VA, but looking out my window at the pile of leaves in my yard, this card matches to a T. Enjoy and have a great weekend, I'm off to see Thor and then dinner out with the guys, looking forward to some family time.

30 Day Gratitude Card Challenge: Day 8

Happy Friday peeps!  What a crazy week, Aidan was off from school on Monday and Tuesday but we still had to work so the routine has been changed up.  For today's gratitude card challenge card I decided to combine it with the Fab Friday Color Challenge to create this fun and warm Thanksgiving card.  These colors are so fun today, it just screams fall.  The cardbase is Old Olive and I added a layer of Cajun Craze cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and the Lattice Embossing Folder and then matted it with Very Vanilla cardstock. 

Next I took a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and stamped the leaves from the Gently Falling stamp set.  I stamped the outline in Early Espresso and the leaves in Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, and Old Olive (I stamped off to help mute the color).  I love how the 2 step stamps make coloring in images a breeze.  This piece was matted with Old Olive cardstock and attached to the front.  I added a piece of Crushed Curry Chevron Ribbon and then tied a knot around it with some Early Espresso 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon.  The final touch is the greeting from the Tags 4 You stamp set.  It was stamped with Early Espresso ink and punched out with the coordinating Label Bracket Punch. and attached it to the card with dimensionals.

 

The love how this card turned out and the colors are fabulous.  I'm definitely going to have to use this combination on other projects, so warm and calming.  I hope you enjoyed today's card.  You can play along with the Fab Friday challenge or the Gratitude Card Challenge I'm working on this month, it's a lot of fun.

30 Day Gratitude Card Challenge: Day 7

Welcome back to another addition of the 30 Day Gratitude Card Challenge.  I'm having so much fun with this trying to make a variety of cards for these shares so you have lots of inspiration and I have a variety of cards in my card stash.  Today's card is pretty simple and uses the Simply Sketched stamp set (this is a hostess set that has some beautiful image and greetings, you really want to make sure you get this set, it's perfect.

 

The cardbase is Pool Party and I added a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  I used the Epic Day This and That Designer Series paper and matted it with Calypso Coral Cardstock.  I used the Essentials Paper Piercing Pack and Paper Piercer to pierce holes along both edges of the Calypso Coral layer.

 

The main stamped image was stamped in Early Espresso Ink and then colored in with a Blender Pen and Pool Party and Calyspo Coral ink (I also added some Pear Pizazz to the stem) and as a mat for the stamped image layer.  The greeting is from the same stamp set and the greeting was punched out with the Oval Punch and matted with Early Espresso and the Scallop Oval Punch.  Dimensionals make it a breeze to attach the greeting to the card.

 

I hope you enjoyed this card and it's so great, you can use it as a thank you but just as easily make it a birthday, sympathy card, etc.  Just by changing to the greeting.

30 Day Gratitude Card Challenge: Day Six, Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge

Good morning!  It's amazing how not having any after school activities this week has liberated our schedules, I feel like I have lots of extra free time but the change in Daylight Savings Time this weekend is hitting us pretty hard so we've all been falling asleep early, even Aidan.  Anyway, for today's 30 Day Gratitude Card challenge I decided to combine it with the Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge.  Of course as soon as I saw this color combination I thought of Christmas and our Season of Style Designer Series paper.

The cardbase is Old Olive and I added a layer of Whisper White cardstock.  I matted the Season of Style DSP with Crumb Cake cardstock before wrapping around a piece of 1/8" Old Olive Taffeta Ribbon.  The greeting in the bottom right corner is from the Another Thank You Photopolymer Stamp Set and was colored with Stampin' Write Markers. 

 

For the main image I stamped the cute little reindeer from the Color Me Christmas stamp set in Early Espresso Ink and colored it in with Stampin' Write Markers.  This piece was cut out with the Big Shot and the Circle Collection Framelits and is matted on a piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock punched out with the 2 1/2" Circle Punch.  I used dimensionals to attached the circle element to the cardfront.  The final touch was to use the Essentials Paper Piercing Pack and Paper Piercer.

 

This card is great for the holidays, not only is it fairly flat, which makes the post office happy, but you could make this card and have your kids color in the image so the recipient would receive a piece of artwork with their thank you.  I know my parents and grandparents love to get art from Aidan so I try to have him do something in cards we send out, even if it's just his name something.

Day of Gratitude Card Challenge: Day 5

Good morning and welcome back.  I'm just popping in quickly to share today's gratitude challenge card with you before the day gets started.  This card is fun and uses the new Another Thank You Photopolymer stamp set and a fun coloring technique.  The cardbase is Marina Mist and I layered the cardfront with a piece of Whisper White card stock.

For the greeting I stamped it first in Whisper White embossing powder and then embossed it with the heat gun and Whisper White embossing powder.  Next I used sponges and different colors of ink to create the rainbow effect.  The top of the the card is Pool Party, then I added streak of Marina Mist, and then Island Indigo.  I blended in the matching lines for the colors for a more graduated effect.  The final touch is to take a paper towel and rub off any excess ink.

 

This card is so bright and cheery and I love that you can use this technique with any color combination for a fun effect.  I hope you enjoy and that you fall in love with this card and decide to make this at home as well.

30 Day Gratitude Card Challenge: Day 4

Good morning friends! What a wonderful weekend, definitely lots to be thankful for. We had a great time running the Run or Dye 5K down in DC and had fun getting colorfied as a family and then enjoyed spending the rest of the time as a family, when went to a movie and dinner and just relaxed. Then yesterday after getting my run in and taking care of things around the house I was able to spend several hours in the studio which really made me happy. For today's gratitude card I decided to combine with a fun challenge over on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog. The idea is to use 3 different designer series papers, two punches, and one stamp set on a card.

Now I know that sounds like a lot going on but since our DSP packages have so many fun prints that all coordinate it makes it a breeze. For this card I started with an Island Indigo cardbase and added a piece of DSP from the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper package. Next I added another strip of DSP that was matted with Summer Startfruit that was edged with the Big Shot and the Finishing Touches Edgelits. I wrapped this layer with Linen Thread for a rustic effect.

Next I used the chevron thinlet piece from the Circle Card Thinlit set to cut out three chevron images out of the last piece of DSP for the bottom right corner. The greeting is from the Lots of Thanks stamp set and was punched out with the Large Oval Punch. I sponged this layer with Crumb Cake and Summer Starfruit ink before matting it with a piece of Early Espresso cardstock that was punched with the Decorative Label Punch. The greeting was attached to the card with dimensionals for lots of pop. Of course you can always use some bling so I added a strip of pearls along the bottom of the greeting for fun.

This challenge was a lot of fun and a great way to showcase all our great papers and patterns. You should definitely play along and share what you come up with so fun.

30 Day Gratitude Card Challenge: Day 3

I'm glad you were able to join me for today's gratitude card challenge creation.  I changed things up today and made an everyday thank you using the Timeless Talk stamp set.  I drew the colors from the Afternoon Picnic Designer Series Paper.  The cardbase is Wisteria Wonder and I added a layer of Very Vanilla.  I matted the DSP strip with Crushed Curry cardstock that was punched with the Scallop Trim Border Punch. 

I stamped the record player image in Basic Ink before punching it out with the 2 1/2" circle punch.  I used the Big Shot and the Circles Collection framelits to cut a circle mat out of Pear Pizzaz cardstock.  The final touch on the card was to add some candy dots up in the top right corner.  These candy dots are too cute and since they have adhesive on the back it's a breeze to add a touch of color wherever you want.

This card is soft with a touch of elegance, so whimsical.  Enjoy and I hope you're enjoying this challenge.  Remember, I encourage you play along and get cracking on your gratitude cards, it's so fun!

Good morning and Happy Saturday!  So this morning we're off to run in the Run or Dye 5K and we're looking forward to getting "colorfied" while we have fun and workout with friends.  Before I left I wanted to make sure to share with you today's card for the 30 Day Gratitude Card Challenge.  This is another fall themed card and uses the Truly Grateful stamp set.  The cardbase is Crumb Cake and I added a piece of Early Espresso Core'd nations cardstock that I embossed with the Big Shot and the Woodgrain Embossing Folder.  I lightly sanded the cardstock and I love how it brings out the core color of the paper.  To add some extra texture I wrapped a piece of Burlap Ribbon around the cardstock. 

 

The main stamped image uses a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and I stamped the wood chevron stamp from the Truly Grateful set in Crumb Cake ink, and I stamped off first to make the pattern more subtle.  Next I stamped the grain image in Early Espresso ink and the greeting uses Cajun Craze ink.  I used Cajun Craze cardstock to mat the stamped image and used dimensionals to attach the stamped layer to the cardfront so it sits on top of the burlap ribbon.

 

I love the simplicity card and it's definitely "mailable" which the mailman will appreciate.  I hope you enjoy and have a wonderful day!

30 Day Gratitude Card Challenge: Day 1

I’m back and I’m excited to kick off my Second Annual November Gratitude card challenge.  What is this you ask?  I’ve challenged myself to make and share a different card each day during the month of November that expresses my gratitude or how I’m thankful for the special people and all they do in my life.  These cards are going to have all sorts of themes so there will be a large variety and just think at the end of the month I’ll have 30 cards ready to mail when the need arises (minus the one’s I use as the month progresses).

This first card has a nice fall theme and starts with a Crumb Cake card base and then I added a layer of Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper that was matted on Tangerine Tango cardstock.  Next I added a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock that was stamped with the wood chevron image from the Truly Grateful stamp set (I actually had this piece laying on my desk from another project that I messed up so I cut it down to use on this card) and wrapped a piece of Early Espresso ¼” Stitched Grosgrain ribbon.  The greeting element is from the Harvest of Thanks stamp set and was stamped on Crushed Curry cardstock with Early Espresso Ink.  I used the Big Shot and the Apothecary Accents framelits to cut it out, easy peasy before attaching it to the card with dimensionals.  Now I have to say, I sponged every single layer of this card with Crumb Cake ink since I thought these colors were too bright on their own and the sponging helps soften them.

Hand Stamped Sentiments Sketch Challenge: Label Love

Happy Friday peeps!  Looking for a great start to the weekend and some fun family time planned (we’re running in a local 5K as a family on Saturday, Run or Dye, with some of Chris’ coworkers so we’ll have a great time while also getting a little exercise.  Aidan really likes these events where he gets covered in color so it should be fun to see how he does, just hoping it isn’t too cold Saturday morning.  Other than that we have an uneventful weekend planned so I can get some things done around the house and lots of stamping and crafting time.  Today I’m sharing the card for this weeks Hand Stamped Sentiments Sketch Challenge.  This sketch is really simple and lends itself to being used for lots of different projects.  I decided to step away from all the Halloween and fall projects I’ve been working and do something completely out of the box, so I made a baby card.  The cardbase is Pear Pizzaz and I added a piece of Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper that was matted on Melon Mambo cardstock.  For the three striped elements I decided to mix things up and used Island Indigo Baker’s Twine and Whisper White ¼”Stiched Grosgrain Ribbon.

The stamped image is from the Label Love stamp set.  It was stamped once in Pear Pizzaz (and punched out with the Artisan Label Punch) and again in Melon Mambo (punched out with the 7/8” Scallop Circle Punch).  I used dimensionals to attach both the scallop circle and the label piece to the card for extra dimension.
