Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Stamp Set Focus: Big on You

Good morning!  It's time for more snow today, I have said how ready I am for spring to arrive?  The nice thing about this cold weather is that it provides the perfect opportunity to stay inside where it's warm and craft.  Today on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog we're focusing on the Big on You stamp set and showing lots of great options using this stamp set.  Instead of a card, I decided to change things up and share a couple of Project Life style inserts.  I designed these to fit into one of our 6"x8" album pages and just need to add a couple of pictures.

The small insert is 3"x4" and started with a piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock.  I used the Heart Border Punch to punch along the edge and then added a strip of Real Red cardstock behind the punched out hearts.  I used Memento Ink to stamp the "I Do Love You" image from the Big on You stamp set so it could be the focal point of the insert.  Then I added a small heart that I punched out of Gold Glimmer Paper and the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack for a little bling.

The larger insert uses a different stamp set, You Plus Me and coordinates with the smaller insert by using the same colors, glimmer paper, and punch.

It's fun to use our traditional stamps, punches, papers, etc. to make inserts for our Project Life albums so you can completely customize your page.  There are several other samples the design team is sharing using this stamp set so make sure to check them out.

Sketch Frenzy Friday Sketch Challenge & SSI Occasions Bundles: You Plus Me

Happy Friday peeps!  We’ve almost reached the end of the work week so let the fun begin, along with the usual family activities I have card class on Sunday that is always lots of fun and Aidan has a sleepover on Saturday, which means date night for mommy and daddy (whoo hoo!!!)  Before we get going with all that it’s time to share this weeks Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch challenge card.  This was a unique layout for me and I decided to combine it with the post we have over on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog focusing on the product bundles in the 2015 Occasions catalog.  I decided to us the Stacked with Love bundle and You Plus Me stamp set but I wanted to change things up and not make a Valentine’s card (I know!!!) so I decided to make an Anniversary card.

I started with Smoky Slate for the cardbase and then added a piece of Pistachio Pudding cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder.  Next I added two pieces of DSP from the Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack, as well as a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper. For the stamped piece I used the You Plus Me stamp set and stamped the ampersand in Crisp Cantaloupe and the little hearts in Black Memento Ink before cutting it out with the Big Shot and Oval Collection Framelits before attaching it to the cardfront with dimensionals.  For the greeting I used the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set and punched it out with the Word Window Punch and then matted it with Crisp Cantaloupe that was punched out with the Modern Label Punch.

I’ll admit this card turned out a bit more feminine than I had intended but love how all the different colors, patterns, and shapes play off each other.  The other design team members shared some fun cards as well so please go check them out and then play along with the sketch, I would love to see what you come up with.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Blog: Valentine's Cards and Gifts Tags

Good morning!  With Valentine’s Day less than two weeks away the designers over on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog want to help you out with any last minute cards and gift packing you need to help your loved one’s feel special on the holiday so we’re sharing lots of ideas to spark your creativity.  I’m still working on a few items (thankfully I finished Aidan’s class gifts last weekend, he just needs to write the names on them).  I have two things I’m sharing with you today, a card and a coordinating gift tag that are so fun.

I’ll start with the card, I decided to double things up and used the sketch challenge over on the Mojo Monday blog as the inspiration for this card.  I used Crumb Cake for the cardbase and then added a layer of Calypso Coral cardstock that I embossed with the Big Shot and Happy Hearts Embossing Folder.  Next I added two different pieces of DSP from the Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper stack and added some gold sequins from the Gold Sequin Trim in the top right corner of one piece for some added detail (I will admit I may have added a few to many, I just couldn’t stop, you know how it goes?)  Next I added a piece of 5/8” Natural Chevron Trim Ribbon and Calypso Coral Chevron Ribbon for some fun flags and texture.  The greeting is from the You Plus Me stamp set and I stamped it with Memento Ink on Calypso Coral cardstock before punching it out with the 1 ¾” Circle Punch.  Of course I needed a little more bling so I punched out a circle of Gold Glimmer Paper with the 2” Circle Punch to make the mat and attached it to the cardfront with dimensionals.  This card is nice and fun but since it has playful colors it doesn’t necessary scream Valentine’s so you could always use it for an Anniversary or other occasion to let someone know you’re thinking of them.
So another project I’m working on right now is gifts for Aidan’s teachers, he’s decided he just wanted to bake some cookies to give as a yummy treat.  So we can’t make those quite yet (well actually I made up some chocolate chip cookie dough, added Valentine’s M&M’s and then scooped the dough and froze it in balls so the mess is already made, we’ll just need to pop them on the cookie sheet and bake right before we give them, AWESOME!) but we can start working on the packaging for the cookies so it’s not a last minute project and super cute.  We’re going to put the cookies in cello bags and tie some ribbon so I wanted to make gift tags to attach to the cookies.  For this I used the Big Shot and On Film Framelits to cut some Crumb Cake cardstock.  Next I added another piece of DSP from the Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper stack and attached it to the tag and trimmed off the edges.  I also added a piece of Washi Tape from the coordinating Stacked with Love Designer Washi Tape.  The greeting is from the January Paper Pumpkin Kit and I just stamped with Memento Ink.  The heart is from the Groovy Love stamp set and was stamped in Real Red ink on Whisper White cardstock before punching it out with the Sweetheart Punch (it’s on sale this week as part of the Weekly Deals!!) and attached it to the tag with dimensionals.  As you know I have to have bling so I added a small heart that I had sitting on my desk from another project that was punched out of Champagne Shimmer Paper with the heart punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack and attached it with a dimensional as well.

I love how cute the tag turned out and Aidan can write on the back of the tag so they’re all ready to attach to the cookies and deliver to his teachers (always love when we can get projects finished ahead of time!!)
Make sure to check out all the other great cards and projects the design team is sharing for ideas to help with all your Valentine’s holiday crafting needs.

Sketch Frenzy Friday Sketch Challenge: You Plus Me

Good morning and Happy Friday!  How have you survived the week?  This week continues to provide lots of excitement to start the new year, hoping for some extra rest (and crafting time this weekend).  Before the weekend gets started it's time for the Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch challenge and we were given a great one this week.  I have to admit one of the things I like best about sketch challenges is that it helps get you outside of your normal layouts and gives you a jumping off place for your projects so things are always fun and exciting.   Of course I'm still all over Valentine's right now so I've got another one for you today.

I started with Smoky Slate for the cardbase and added a piece of DSP from the Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack.  You'll notice all my layers have round corners today, I used the Project Life Corner Rounder Punch and it was so easy (this really is a must have punch even if your not into the Project Life system).  Next I added a piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and Happy Hearts Embossing Folder.  I layered that with a piece of Basic Black cardstock that I punched with the Confetti Hearts Border Punch and layered a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper behind (a great way to just add a little sparkle to your projects!

For the greeting I used the You Plus Me stamp set (awesome set!!) used my Stampin' Write Markers to color it in before stamping on Smoky Slate cardstock and punching it out with the Scalloped Oval Punch, sponged around the edge with Coastal Cabana ink and then attached it to the cardfront with dimensionals.  For a final touch I added a bow that I tied with Basic Black Baker's Twine and I used two pieces of twine in my bow for a bigger effect.  I used a Glue Dot to attach the bow (they are perfect for attaching embellishments to cards and they don't move.)

I have to admit I whipped this card up pretty quickly but love how it turned out, it also doesn't have any pink so it will work for the "dudes" in my life.  I really love sending cards to friends and family and when you can give one you made it makes it even more special.  I can help you make Valentine's cards (or any occasion) for your loved ones, just ask me!

Styin' Stampin' INKspiration January Blog Hop: New Occasions Catalog Fun

Happy Thursday, it’s blog hop time friends!  With the release of the Occasions catalog this week it’s only fitting that this month the designers are sharing projects made with their favorite items from the new catalog.  Since Valentine’s is the first big event of the new year (and a holiday I love, but actually I love all holidays!) most of my preorder products are loved themed so that’s what I’m sharing with you today.  I also love that the new sets in the Occasions catalog are not strickly “Valentine’s Day” but are more generic so you can use them for other occasions throughout the year.

As you hop along, please be sure to comment and show some love on every blog! We are always excited to hear from our followers! You should have just left stop number (#5) on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Blog Hop - (Jennifer G. at Jenny G Paper Crafts). If so, you are in the right spot. If a link doesn't work or you get off track, you will find the full blog hop lineup below.

The first project I have for you is a card that uses two new sets, You Plus Me, and Big on You.  I started with Basic Gray for the cardbase and then added a piece of Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper (you’re going to love this new paper stack, on side of each paper is full of color while the reverse sides are all black and white for even more uses, plus you save 15% when you buy the DSP and stamp set bundle, BONUS!)  Next I wrapped some Basic Black Baker’s Twine around the DSP and tied a nice little bow.  The big greeting is from the Big on You stamp set and is stamped on Coastal Cabana cardstock with Black Memento Ink.  The little accent is from the You Plus Me stamp set and after using my Stampin’ Write Markers to color on the stamp and stamping on Whisper White cardstock I punched it out with the Oval Punch and made a mat using Basic Black cardstock and the Scalloped Oval Punch.  This is a nice simple card that doesn’t scream girly so I may be giving this to my sweetie!!

Of course I had to make a matching gift for my card so I made this little treat using the French Fry Die and my Big Shot (super easy I love these, and they hold a lot!!).  The box is Real Red and then I added a strip of DSP once again using the Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack (I attached it to the box first and then trimmed it so it fit the curve of the box).  The tag was made by stamping the greeting from the You Plus Me stamp set and then I cut it out with the Project Life Cards and Labels Framelits and attached it to the box front with some Coastal Cabana Thick Baker’s Twine (I will admit I also used a dimensional on the far end of the tag to attach it permanently to the box so it didn’t dangle the wrong way).  I used a little hear that I punched out of Silver Foil Cardstock using the Confetti Hearts Punch as a fun little accent.  It’s super easy to fill this I just took some kisses and put them in a cello bag and tied it with Basic Black Baker’s Twine so it all coordinates.

I will admit with all boys in the house I tend to try to make projects that aren’t always girly so by adding the Coastal Cabana with the Basic Black and Real Red it gives me something even the guys will appreciate.

SSI New Catalog Countdown: You Plus Me

Happy New Year!!  We are so glad you chose to ring in the new year with us...and for your SSINKspiration, we have a fabulous surprise for you!!

On January 6th our new Occasions and our Sale-A-Bration Catalogs go LIVE!!

Countdown with us as we show you sneak peeks of some of the amazing new stamp sets you'll be seeing in the new catalogs!

Today's sneak peek set is called You Plus Me

I have to admit, as soon as Christmas is over I'm all about Valentine's projects and I was so excited when I saw the products offered in the new Occasions catalog, they're so fun and versatile, I've already had fun playing with them and know that you will too.   For this card I started with Smoky Slate for the cardbase and then added a piece of Calypso Coral Cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and the Happy Heart Embossing Folder and matted it with Island Indigo Cardstock.  Next I added a piece of DSP from the Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack.  I used some Island Indigo 1/4" Cotton Ribbon across the DSP and used Sticky Strip to make sure the ruffles I created stay in place.  For a little bit of glimmer I glued a few small silver hearts that were punched out with the Confetti Hearts Punch and Silver Foil Cardstock.

The greeting is from the You Plus Me stamp set and was stamped on Smoky Slate cardstock with Mememto Ink before cutting it out with the Big Shot and Oval Collection Framelits and attached it to the cardfront with dimensionals.

The great thing about this stamp set it isn't exclusively for Valentine' Day, you can use it for all sorts of projects and any occasion, which makes it perfect.  The other designers are sharing some awesome cards using this same stamp set so you'll want to check them out, you'll have to add this stamp set to your wish list after seeing these ideas!
