Hand Stamped Sentiments Inspiration Challenge IC 288: Basket of Wishes

Good morning!  I love all types of challenges to stretch my creativity and today Hand Stamped Sentiments blog has an Inspiration Challenge that provides lots of ideas for you to create based on.  When I saw the images in the inspiration challenge I noticed all the flowers as well as the wooden create to I decided to focus on those elements for this simple card that only has one stamped image.

I used Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Tranquil Tide cardstock for the mat to the Whisper White cardfront.  The greeting is from the Basket of Wishes stamp set (retiring) and was stamped in Early Espresso ink.

For the wooden crate I used the Big Shot and Wood Crate Framelits as well as the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper and then just trimmed the crate piece down since I didn't need the tabs to make it 3D.






Aren't these flowers pretty?  I love them and all I did was take the Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper (retiring) and fussy cute one of the flower sprays using my Paper Snips (it did take a little patience, perfect to do in if your watching a show and relaxing).  I also cut a couple partial images and tucked them inside the crate to make the flowers a little fuller.  I also didn't fully attach all the flower image so pieces lifted off the card for dimension like a real basket of flowers would do.  The final touch was to tie a double bow using Flirty Flamingo Baker's Twine (retiring).

SSINKspiration Doilies and Lace: Basket of Birthday Wishes

Good morning!  We are having a wonderful holiday and are now in Williamsburg for a little getaway, Christmas Town was last night and today we're off to explore Colonial Williamsburg.  Before we head out I wanted to share this pretty birthday card I made that uses doilies and lace which the SSINKspiration designers are using to make fun cards today.  I needed a birthday card so decided to add a little coloring with the Stampin' Blends and a mix of Christmas DSP for this very non-Christmasy card.

I started with Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock as a mat for the Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper (several of the prints in this package are versatile can be used for other occasions.)

For the main stamped image I used the Basket of Wishes stamp set and stamped in Early Espresso ink on Whisper White cardstock to make this pretty succulent basket and then colored it in using Old Olive, Crumb Cake, and Rich Razzleberry Stampin' Blends.  After coloring I cut the image out using the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes framelits.  Before attaching to the cardfront I added a Silver Metallic Doily and some Very Vanilla 1/2" Lace Trim to peek out the sides and dimensionals helped pop up the stamped piece.

The final touch is the greeting, which is from the same stamp set and was stamped with Rich Razzleberry ink on Crumb Cake cardstock and then cut out with the Stitched Shapes Framelits (I used the square die and cut it twice to get the rectangular shape with stitching all around.

I have to say, these Stampin' Blends are so great to color with, and super easy, I'm hoping we get additional colors soon.  And it's great to use some Christmas products up on non-Christmas cards to help reduce by DSP stash (I'm not even admitting how much I have, haha!!)  Make sure to check out the other design teams cards and see what you can create using the great doilies and lace embellishments we have!

RemARKable Creations Blog Hop: Anything but the Holidays

Good evening!  I always love Labor Day weekend, because while it's the official end to summer it also tends to be a little more relaxing weekend which is awesome!  I'm taking a break from the family fun for a fun blog hop that is perfect for the recent release of the 2017 Holiday catalog.  While the holiday catalog is full of products for all the upcoming seasons and holidays today we're sharing ways to use some of these products for non-holiday projects.  At first this stumped me a little but I decided to combine 4 different stamp sets and lots of accessories to create this cute birthday card.

I started with Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Early Espresso cardstock that I ran through the Big Shot with the Card Front Builder Thinlits to create the intricate frame.  Next I added a piece of Whisper White cardstock for the cardfront and added a piece of Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper (matted with Cajun Craze cardstock) using the leaf patter for a fall feeling.  I used some Copper 1/4" Trim to add a little sparkle.

I used the new Cat Punch and Soft Suede cardstock to make this fun cat and the Spooky Cat stamp set has a stamp to add the face for our little kitty.  For the basket and flowers I used the Basket of Wishes stamp set (that was actually in last year's holiday catalog and carried over) to make this fun basket of sunflowers.  To the center of the sunflower I used one of the new Black Rhinestones from the Halloween suite for some fun and the basket was stamped on a separate piece of paper and cut out with dimensionals so I could pop it up.

I had to build the greeting from a couple of different stamps, the "birthday" is from the Tabs for Everything set, while the "cheer" is from the Merry Café  stamp set.

There are lots of different elements to this card that really make you just want to touch and study it, which is lots of fun and I love seeing ways to use our products beyond the initially planned purpose, really expands their usefulness.  Make sure to check out all the other projects in the blog hop, there are lots of great designers sharing other ways to use these products, and I know you'll find some you fall in love with as much as I will!

Hand Stamped Sentiments Card Sketch: Basket of Wishes

Good morning!  After some cold and challenging weather this weekend it looks like we're going to get a little breath of spring today which I'm really looking forward to.  A little breath of spring was kind of the inspiration for the card I made for this weeks Hand Stamped Sentiments sketch challenge.  I've been working on goal related projects quite a bit recently (holiday's, etc.) so I wanted to take a break to just play and make something that just makes me smile and this was the end result.

I started with Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardbase and then added a layer of Watermelon Wonder cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and the Lovely Lace Embossing Folder.  Next I added a piece of the Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper and used it for the color combination inspiration.




For the main stamped image I took a piece of Whisper White cardstock and stamped the basket and succulent images from the Basket of Wishes stamp set using Early Espresso ink and then used my Stampin' Write Markers to color it in (I used both tips of the marker's in the color and find using the thin tip is a great way to add a little accent of color like I did on the tips of the plants).  The greeting is from the Suite Sentiments stamp set and was stamped in Night of Navy ink on Crumb Cake cardstock and then punched out with the Decorative Label Punch.  I added a little strip of Cucumber Crush 5/8" Mini Striped Ribbon behind the greeting before attaching it with dimensionals for a little extra texture and pizzaz.

I was so happy with how this card turned out and it completely reflects the sunrise I saw this morning and how I'm feeling this morning.  Sometimes we all just need a little downtime for some play therapy to reset and relax!

30 Day Gratitude Challenge: Day 30

Good morning and Happy Wednesday!  We've reached the end of the month and the last day of this years gratitude challenge.  I've had so much fun, been really productive, and I hope have inspired you a little.  For the last card of the challenge I decided to use the Proverbial Stampers November Color and Sketch challenges as inspiration for today's card that mixes Holiday catalog items for a fun everyday card.

I started with Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardbase and then added a layer of Cherry Cobbler cardstock as a mat for the Very Vanilla cardfront.  On the cardfront I used the A World of Thanks background stamp set for the background (and greeting at the same time) and stamped it in Crumb Cake ink.  I took a piece of Always Artichoke cardstock and cut a flag and then embossed it with the Big Shot and Boho Chic Embossing Folder. 

For the main stamped image I used the Basket of Wishes stamp set and stamped the berry basket and berries in Chocolate Chip ink before coloring them in with a blender pen and Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, and Always Artichoke ink.  Once I was finished coloring I cut the image out using the Big Shot and Layering Circles Framelits and then used the same framelits to cut a scallop circle mat out of Always Artichoke cardstock. 

Of course you've seen I've had a thing for Copper Foil Paper lately and I decided to use it again on this card as an accent, this time cutting a circle out using the new Stitched Shapes Framelits for a beautiful edge.  I used dimensionals to attached the smaller circles to the foil circle for a little extra dimension.  The final touch was to tie a double bow using the Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine from the Baker's Twine Trio Pack (love getting three coordinating colors in one package!!)



This card makes me think of summer and all the fun times in the sun and love that you can get so many looks with this one stamp set, so versatile (I have to admit I really hope this set carries over to next years catalog)!

30 Day Gratitude Challenge: Day 23 (SSI Thanksgiving Card)

Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving Eve!  Today I'm thankful for starting our family holiday and heading out to spend a few days with some dear friends, it's a tradition!  Before the fun gets started I wanted to share today's gratitude challenge card and I used it on the SSINKspiration blog where the design team members are sharing Thanksgiving cards.

Now you may recognize several elements in this card, it was the same as Monday's card and I just changed a few things up to completely change the card. 

This card showcases the Basket of Wishes stamp set and I used the Heat Tool and Copper Embossing Powder to stamp the greeting on top of the decorative mask sponging on the cardfront.  For the main stamp image I stamped the basket and gourds onto Very Vanilla cardstock and after coloring it all in with Stampin' Write Markers I matted it with Cajun Craze cardstock and attached it to the cardfront with dimensionals.  The final touch was to add a bow I tied using Garden Green Baker's Twine from the Baker's Twine Trio Pack.

The mixture of textures, metals, and colors make this a perfect fall card and way to send Thanksgiving wishes.  Make sure to check out the cards the other design team members are sharing for more inspiration.

30 Day Gratitude Challenge: Day 8

Good morning!  It’s election day and no matter who you support I hope you take the time to vote, it’s important to be part of the process and voice your choice for the future.  We’re heading home today but will definitely be home in time to make it to the polls.  For today’s 30 Day Gratitude challenge it’s time to go back to fall for today’s gratitude card and I share card we made at last months card class using the Basket of Wishes stamp set (you know I love that set!1)

I started with Old Olive cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and Sparkle Embossing Folder.  Next I added a piece of Soft Suede designer series paper from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack.  I used my 2” Circle Punch to cut a piece out of the Warmth & Cheer Designer Series Paper Stack (this stack has so many great patterns for all season long, not just Christmas).

I used the same 2” Circle Punch on a piece of Whisper White cardstock for the base of my basket element.  Next I stamped the pumpkins for inside the basket on the Whisper White circle using Early Espresso ink and stamped the basket using the same ink on Crumb Cake cardstock.  The basket was cut out with Paper Snips and attached to the circle with dimensionals so it pops up after coloring the pumpkins and gourds in with Stampin’ Write Markers.

The greeting is from the same stamp set and was stamped using Soft Suede ink on Cajun Craze cardstock and then cut out with the Big Shot and Project Life Labels and Cards Framelits.  The final touch was to tie a bow using Old Olive Baker’s Twine to attach on the cardfront.

All the different patterns, colors, and textures really help the fall feel of this card come to life and I love how it turned out.  I have several more projects in my head using this stamp set, just hope I don’t run out of time, haha!!

SSINKspiration Technique Challenge #SSINKTC37: Tile Effect Vintage Leaves

Good morning and Happy Monday!  After a crazy busy week (they seem to all be like that lately) it's time for another challenge SSINKspiration blog to start the week and this time it's a technique challenge. These challenges are always fun to get us trying new ideas and techniques and see how we can use them on projects.  This month's technique is the tile effect and it's so easy and pretty cool.

I started with Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardbase and then added a layer of Soft Suede cardstock behind the Night of Navy cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and Cable Knit Dynamic Embossing Folder.  Next I added a piece of Petals & Paisleys Speciality Designer Series Paper and cut it out with the Big Shot and Lots of Labels Framelits.

For the stamped image I started by taking a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and scored it every 1/2" on both sides using the Stampin' Trimmer to create my tiles and then stamped it with the Vintage Leaves stamp set and inks to coordinate with the DSP and then matted it with Cajun Craze cardstock.  The greeting is from the Basket of Wishes stamp set and was stamped in Night of Navy ink on Very Vanilla cardstock and then cut it out with the Big Shot and Layering Ovals Framelits before attaching it to the cardfront with dimensionals.

For the final touches I added a little piece of the 5/8" Burlap Trim and then a knot tied with the 3/8" Mint Macaron Sheer Linen Ribbon.

The tile look is great for this fall themed card and I love all the great colors in this designer series paper that really makes it versatile.  The other design team members are sharing some fun cards using this technique so go check them out and then we would love for you to play along with us and share what you create.
