Fab Friday Sketch Challenge #FabFri171: Spooktacular Bash

Good morning!

The end of the week as arrived which means time for some family fun and of course some crafting!  I'm also thinking with the arrival of the cooler weather, finally!, it may be time to start bringing out the fall decorations.  To help kick things off I'm playing around with this weeks Fab Friday sketch challenge and decided to go back to the Spooktacular Bash stamp set and showed earlier this week.  And this time I'm bringing lots of fun textures.

I started with Basic Gray cardstock for the cardbase and then used Cajun Craze as a mat for the Basic Black cardfront.  Now check out that design, what a dazzler!  I used the new Basic Patterns Decorative Mask as well as some White Shimmery Embossing Paste (that I colored with ONE drop of Basic Gray reinker) for this spooky background.  Now the cool thing about the shimmery embossing paste is that the shimmer has a green hue to it so it's adding to the spooky factor.

Next I added a piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock and then a strip of the Monster Bash Designer Series Paper

Now for the fun stamped images...I started with the jars of creatures and after stamping them in Momento Black ink on Whisper White I colored them in with Stampin' Write Markers.  Then I used something else new from the Holiday catalog, Shimmery Crystal Effects to coat the jars for a glassy look.  Don't forget, with Crystal Effects it takes a little longer to dry, I like to just let mine dry overnight to ensure they are fully set.  Now, I'll admit this new crystal effects "floods" a little differently with than the original one's we had, or maybe I just need a little more practice.  After the image was completely dry I cut it out using the Stitched Shapes Dies and just ran it through twice to make it a rectangle and attached the piece with dimensionals.

To finish off the card the greeting was stamped in Cajun Craze ink and cut out with the Layering Ovals Dies and then I added a bow tied with Linen Thread.

I love every detail in this card, and of course all the shimmer just makes my heart flutter.  This is such a great layout you could do almost anything with it and it's a great way to let our fabulous Designer Series Papers be the star of the card.  Don't forget to order your holiday crafting supplies so you can get an early start on all the projects that I know are on your To Do list!

Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge #PCC350: Spooktacular Bash

 Good morning!

The day has arrived...one day I look forward to is the release of the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog, which is my official kick off to the holiday crafting!  Because of this occasion it's only fitting that for this weeks Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge I use items from the new catalog.  For some reason I always jump to the Halloween products first, I think it's because that's the first holiday we get to and this years Monster Bash Product Suite really knocked it out of the park.

I started with Crushed Curry cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Basic Black cardstock that was a mat for the Soft Suede cardfront that's embossed with the Stylish Scroll Embossing Folder and then sponged all over with Soft Suede ink (this embossing pattern isn't just good for Halloween, it's good for all occasions!)

Next I added a piece of Basic Black 3/8" Scalloped Edge Ribbon behind the main image.  I used the Spooktacular Bash stamp set to stamp the greeting on Whisper White cardstock and then cut it out with the coordinating Ornate Frames Dies to cut it out and sponged around the edges with Soft Suede ink.  I used the same dies set to cut the ornate Terracotta Tile piece as well as the spider web print paper from the Monster Bash Designer Series Paper pack.  To finish off the card I added several enamel dots from the Monster Bash Enamel Shapes and then cut several scroll pieces out of Gold Foil using the Stitched Stars Dies for an added little flourish.

These products are so amazing, it's easy to make beautiful projects, that don't have to overly holiday cheesy.  Make sure to check out the other cards the design team is sharing and I would love for you to play along with us and share what you create using this sketch.

Paper Craft Crew Inspiration Challenge #PCC349: Birch Birthday Greetings

Good morning!

This week the Paper Craft Crew has a fun inspiration challenge, all about butterflies and blooms.  Now I have a small confession, I'm not a huge fan of butterflies in my crafting, don't hate them but they don't usually inspire me so after looking through all my stamping stash I was shocked to not have anything butterfly that I could use for this challenge, so instead I'm focusing on the blooms.

I'm loving the new Heirloom Frames Dies and Embossing Folders so I decided to create the look of vintage framed art you might remember and just went from there.

I started with Pool Party cardstock for the cardbase and then matted the Whisper White cardfront with Basic Black ink.  To create the cardfront I stamped with the Birch stamp set in Crumb Cake ink and then sponged around the edges with Petal Pink ink.

For the frame I used Early Espresso cardstock and after cutting and embossing I used the new Delicata Metallic Copper ink to sponge all over the embossing to create that antique feel and used dimensionals to attach the frame.  For the artwork inside the frame I used the Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper.

To finish off the card I added a bow tied with Whisper White 5/8" Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon and then added the greeting using the Itty Bitty Birthday stamp set and stamped with Basic Black ink on Crumb Cake cardstock and then cut it out with the Stitched Shapes Dies before attaching it with dimensionals.

This card reminds me of something I remember seeing at my grandparents house and love the soft colors and mix of textures.  Make sure to check out the other cards the design team is sharing using this fun inspiration challenge and we would love for you to play along with us and share what you create!
