30 Day Gratitude Challenge: Day 11

Good morning!  Brrr...it's cold out there.  Starting this morning early with stampers in the studio working on holiday cards so I thought it was only fitting for today's gratitude card that I share one of the card designs they will be making that I changed the greeting up on.  You may recognize this card, I used it for a card sketch earlier.

I started with Emerald Envy cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock that I embossed with the Big Shot and Pinewood Planks Dynamic Embossing Folder.  Next I added a piece of Be Merry Designer Series Paper and tucked 1/2 a Silver Foil Snowflake behind it.

The greeting is from the Work of Art stamp set and was stamped on Whisper White cardstock before being cut out with the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits and attached to the cardfront with dimensionals.  The final touch was a bow tied with Silver 3/8" Metallic-Edge Ribbon (love this stuff!!)

I really like how the Crumb Cake cardstock provides a more natural feel to the card even with the holiday colors, and who doesn't love the bling???

30 Day Gratitude Challenge: Day 13

Happy Sunday!  Boy it was chilly yesterday.  With the boys camping this weekend I was certainly thinking of them and hoping they stayed warm, can't wait to see them this afternoon.  I have another fun, Christmas themed card for today's 30 Day Gratitude challenge card using the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set (so fun)!

I started with Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardbase and added another piece of Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardfront.  On the cardfront I started by sponging around the edge using Crumb Cake ink.  The two pieces of designer series paper is from the Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper and the greeting is from the Work of Art stamp set and was stamped in Early Espresso ink.

For the cute reindeer I using the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set and stamped him in Early Espresso ink on Crumb Cake cardstock and then punched him out with the coordinating Cookie Cutter Punch (it's fun how you can use the same punch for all the characters in this set just by flipping it over).  I colored the antlers in Soft Suede ink and the nose is Real Red.  Before attaching the reindeer to the cardfront I looped some Gold Baker's Twine from the Baker's Twine Trio Pack and attached the whole think with dimensionals.

This little guy just makes me smile and I know it will be perfect to extend the holiday season when I send out my thank yous after the holidays (or during if I'm really on the ball!)  You could change this card to make it holiday by just changing the greeting.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Color Challenge SSINKCC34: New and Old Catalg Mix Up

Happy Monday!  After another wonderful weekend full of family fun it's back to work and school (only two weeks to go) and since it's the first Monday of the month it's time for this months SSINKspiration blog color challenge and I love that Darcy gave us a great combo that combines one of the new 2016-2018 In Colors along with some of our classic colors.  I decided to combine this color sketch with this weeks  Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge for some extra fun.

I started with Emerald Envy cardstock for the cardbase (this is going to be a great and much use color) and then added a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  On this piece I stamped the watercolor image from the Work of Art stamp set using Pink Pirouette ink and then used the splatter stamp from the Painter's Palette set set using Emerald Envy ink in the top left corner.

Next I started building layers from the bottom, first using a piece of Silver Foil cardstock and then some Elegant Eggplant designer series paper from the Regals Designer Series Paper stack.  Since I'm still waiting for my first big order from the new catalog I decide to make my one patterned paper by using a piece of Whisper White cardstock and the stamps from the Work of Art stamp set and all our color sketch colors.  I matted this with a piece of Pink Pirouette cardstock before attaching it to the cardfront.

For the greeting I used the Balloon Celebrations stamp set and after stamping using Elegant Eggplant ink on Whisper White paper I cut it out using the Big Shot and Project Life Labels and Cards Framelits and then sponged around the sides using Pink Piroutte ink before attaching to the cardfront with dimensionals.  Behind the greeting is a couple of loops of Silver Metallic Thread and then I added a small bow using the Emerald Envy 3/8" Ruched Ribbon (this ribbon is beautiful!!).  The final touch was to add a few silver sequins from the Metallics Sequins.



I love how these colors work together and this sketch is definitely taking me outside of my comfort zone which is always fun!  Make sure to check out the other design team cards and we would love for you to play along with this months sketch!

Fab Friday Color Sketch FabFri82: Easter Suite Sayings

Good morning!  Boy I must say we're having some roller coaster weather this week but yesterday afternoon was beautiful, I could definitely get used to that.  With the coming of spring it definitely has me thinking about Easter so I decided to make one of my first Easter cards of the year using this weeks Fab Friday color challenge for inspiration.

I started with Mint Macaroon cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Whisper White cardstock and stamped a couple of the images from the Timeless Textures stamp set using Basic Black and Blushing Bride ink.  Next I added a piece of Mint Macaroon designer series paper from the 2015-2017 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack and matted it with Blushing Bride cardstock.

Being an Easter baby (I was actually born on Easter Sunday) I love this holiday so I decided to make an Easter Egg by cutting out an oval of Whisper White cardstock using the Big Shot and Oval Collection Framelits and then used the brush stroke image from the Work of Art stamp set to create the different colored stripes.  The greeting is from the Suite Sayings stamp set (this new set has some great greetings and fonts, love it) and stamped using Basic Black ink on Pool Party cardstock and then cut it out using the Big Shot and Circle Collection Framelits and then attached the greeting with dimensionals (behind the greeting is some silver metallic thread that I just made some loops of attached to the back of the greeting so it peaks out.

The final touch was to add a bow and I struggled to find just the right thing, and then I saw the Baker's Twine Combo Pack sitting on my desk and I decided to  separate the black from the Melon Mambo Twine and just use the Basic Black part to tie a bow and attach it to the cardfront with a glue dot, perfect!

I love how the soft subtle colors contrast with the bold black on the card, they really help accent and great a great combo.

SSINKspiration Project Life: Honeycomb Wishes in Dimension

Good morning!  One of the great new additions to our product offering over the past year is the Project Life by Stampin’ Up and while I’m starting to really get into using these products for memory keeping (completed my second Daily December journal this year) there are so many other options to use these products if you’re not into memory keeping and today the SSINKspiration designers are sharing some fun ideas to get you started. 

For this card I started with Pear Pizzaz cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  On this piece I used the Honeycomb Happiness stamp set (FREE during Sale-a-bration) to stamp the little chick twice (once on the white cardstock and a second time on a piece of So Saffron cardstock and used my Paper Snips to cut him out (and color his beak in with a Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Write Marker)).  Next I used the Work of Art stamp set and stamped the “swoosh” in Pear Pizzaz so it looked like grass.  I used dimensionals to attach the chick to the cardstock.

On top of the cardstock I added one of the acetate cards from the Memories in the making Project Life Specialty Card Collection (FREE during Sale-a-bration).  Did you know that on these acetate sheets where there is gold on one side if you flip them they are silver??  Awesome!! On top of the acetate card I added a piece of Basic Black 3/8” Stitched Satin Ribbon to the top and added a bow made of Whisper White Baker’s Twine for added texture. 

The greeting is from the Greatest Greetings stamp set and after stamping it on So Saffron cardstock I used the Big Shot and Project Life Cards and Labels Framelits to cut it down before attaching with dimensionals.  The final touch to the greeting was to add a couple strips of pearls for added dimension.  To attach the acetate piece to the cardfron I used dimensionals and just made sure the chick was centered in the silver cutout (a perfect frame!!)

I love the flexibility of the Project Life cards on all sorts of projects including card making (and adds a little pizzaz), so if you haven’t tried them out this is the perfect time.

SSINKspiration Mystery Challenge #SSINKMC30: Easter Greetings

Happy Monday!  This morning we’re waking up in Cozumel and looking forward to a day of snorkeling, catamaran’s, and beach fun so it should be perfect.  Of course I couldn’t forget about you so I’m leaving a little inspiration throughout the week for fun.  Today over on the SSINKspiration blog it’s time for this months Mystery challenge so I decided to play along.  I’ll admit this month that challenge was a little hard for me but I was able to use 4 of the items on the challenge list:  1) non-card, 2) colors, 3) Easter, and 4) dies and punches so I’m happy with the end result. Since Valentine’s is over naturally you start to think of Easter, but with our trip it hasn’t even been on my mind so this was good to do something new.

I decided to use the Fry Box BizL Die for this project (I love how easy it comes together and really holds quite a good amount of ‘stuff.”  I used So Saffron cardstock for the base of the Fry Box and then ran through pieces of Whisper White and Cucumber Crush cardstock for the front of the box so it had the same shape (and was super easy).  I used the Fringe Scissors to cut the Cumber Crush piece so it looks like grass and then added a Whisper White 3/8” Statin Ribbon bow at the bottom.  For the two “eggs” I cut the smaller one using the Large Oval Punch and Bermuda Bay DSP from the Brights Designer Series Paper Stack.  The larger one I cut using the Big Shot and Oval Collections Framelits and then used the Work of Art stamp set to stamp the lines so it looks like an Easter egg.

For the greeting I used the Greatest Greetings stamp set (love this one from the Occasions Catalog) and used my Stampin’ Write Markers to color in the greeting so I could stack the works to make it smaller and then cut it out using the Big Shot and Project Life Cards and Labels Framelits.  I sponged around the edge of the greeting and then attached it to the front of the box with dimensionals.  After looking at the box I decided to make the greeting look like a garden sign so I cut a little piece of Crumb Cake cardstock, embossed it with the Woodgrain embossing folder and sponged it before tucking it under the sign and in the grass (love how it turned out!!)

I have to say, I spent way more time than I planned on this project but really had fun and liked the end result, can’t wait to start working on more Easter projects soon (it will be here in no time!)

Can You Case it? Design Team - Sketch Challenge CYCI #74

Happy Sunday!  So we survived the BBQ and it was a lot of fun, now the recovery begins.  Looking forward to a little rest and stamping with the ladies this afternoon (there’s something about retreating to the cool studio on hot humid days that feels great!!)  Today it’s time for another edition of the Can You Case It? weekly challenge.  This week we’re changing things up and giving a theme and letting you see where it takes you, in this case SUMMER!!! I’ll admit, when I first saw this challenge I was very nervous since we don’t have any current summer themed sets that I own (in the past we’ve had some uber-cute sets that I still have in my stash but I’m resisting).  Instead I started to think about all the great things about summer and came up with this, out of the box idea. 

 I started with Tempting Turquoise cardstock for the cardbase and then added a layer of Whisper White cardstock.  On this layer I did lots of stamping using the Work of Art stamp set.  I stamped the sand along the bottom using both Sahara Sand and Crumb Cake ink and stamped off on some of the images to get different levels of color.  I did the same thing for the sun using Hello Honey, Tangelo Twist, and So Saffron ink (I used my Stampin’ Write Markers to only ink part of the long narrow image for the sunbeams so they fit the page better). 

I always think of ice cream for the summer so I took a small piece of Whisper White cardstock, used the Project Life Corner Rounder Punch on three of the corners and the 1 ¼” Scallop Circle Punch on the last corner to look like a bites been taken out of the tasty treat.  Then I used the larger “swoosh” stamp and stamped using Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, and Real Red ink (also stamping off on the Real Red for a lighter top look). 

The goals was to make this look like the classic ice cream treat (but realized later I had the white and red in the wrong order, oops!!)  I used a piece of Soft Suede cardstock and the Word Window Punch to make the stick and attached the frozen treat to the card with dimensionals. 

The greeting is from the Celebrate Today stamp set and was stamped in Real Red Ink.  The final touch was to add some “birds” to the skyline and since I couldn’t find any suitably sized stamps I just drew simple ones in with a marker.

What do you think?  It’s a little out of the box for my usual style but it definitely conveys summer so I say, success.  I love the wide range of cards the other design team members are sharing so go check them out and then come play along for more summertime fun!

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Color Challenge: Work of Art

Happy Monday!  After a thoroughly exhausting weekend that had us on the go non-stop, but so much fun we're actually looking forward to a slower week coming up.  Today is also a very exciting day in the Stampin' Up! world, our 2014-2015 Annual Catalog is being released today and I can't wait to place my first order later today (you're definitely going to want to check out all the great new products so if you don't have a new catalog let me know and we can get one to you).  Today I have a fun and easy card for the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration color challenge and I decided to use one of the fabulous new stamp sets and us demonstrators were able to get a sneak peak of.  

 

 

The cardbase is Blushing Bride and then I added a layer of Whisper White cardstock that's matted with Soft Suede.  All the stamped images are from the Work of Art stamp set and I love how easy the different stamps make for fun artistic images with little work on our part, and this greeting is wonderful.  The final touch was to add some bling by adding some Gold Sequins from the Gold Sequin Trim.

This stamp set is really great and so fun, we've been having a great time using it with lots of different color combinations for all different types of cards (I'm working on some thank you cards for Aidan's End of the Year Teacher gifts which will be perfect).
