Retiring Products Blog Hop: Sweet Cupcake

Good evening!  It's finally starting to feel like spring around here and between baseball and this mornings race I was able to spend lots of time enjoying the arrival of spring.  Another thing that comes with spring is saying goodbye to some of our favorite Stampin' Up! products in the current catalog so we can make way for some new and fresh items.  Tonight I've joined with a group of demonstrators from across the globe to say goodbye to some of our favorites to provide inspiration and ensure that you take advantage of this time to get these beauties before they retire for good.

For my card I'm using the Sweet Cupcake stamp set and coordinating Cupcake Cutouts Framelits, along with Peekaboo Peach, one of our retiring 2016-2018 In Colors.  I used Peekaboo Peach cardstock for the cardbase and then added a layer of Basic Black cardstock as a mat for the Whisper White cardfront.  Next I mixed some of the White Shimmery Embossing Paste (love the sparkle in this!) and Smoky Slate reinker (just one drop) and then used the Pattern Party Decorative Masks and Palette Knives to spread the embossing paste on the right side of the cardfront (I had some extra colored embossing paste leftover so I made 3 more cardfronts, ready to finish, so I didn't waste any of the embossing paste).  The greeting is stamped in the top left corner using Basic Gray, Peekaboo Peach, and Pumpkin Pie ink.  To finish off the cardfront I added a strip of designer series paper from the Tutti-Frutti Designer Series Paper Stack (retiring) that was matted with Pumpkin Pie cardstock.

For the cupcake I stamped the base using different shades of gray and black and then used Peekaboo Peach and Pumpkin Pie ink for the frosting (to add a little sparkle I added some Clear Wink of Stella to the dark frosting swirls).  Then I used the Big Shot and Cupcake Cutouts Framelits to cut the pieces out and then used dimensionals to attach the frosting so it's raised from the cupcake base.

Given my well known love of cupcakes it's no surprise this is one of my favorite retiring items and one I may not being giving up right away, I see lots of more calorie free cupcakes being created in my future!

SSINKspiration Winter Blues: Lovely as a Tree

Happy FriYAY!!  What a crazy, fun week with Valentine's and my son's birthday we've been in full on celebration mode.  Today the SSINKspiration designers are taking on the "winter blues" and as it was an unusual 75 degrees here yesterday I was definitely not feeling blue about the weather so I decided to take inspiration from the blue colors and make a card for all these winter birthdays we have.

I started with Pool Party cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Island Indigo cardstock as a mat for my Foil Frenzy Specialty Designer Series Paper (I used the Pool Party pattern that reminds me of snow falling).  I wrapped a piece of Island Indigo 1/4" Ombre Ribbon around the cardfront before attaching it to the cardbase and then tied a bow.  Where has this ombre ribbon been all year, I bought this color in my first order last year but this was my first time using it, and oh my is it beautiful!


For the stamped image I used the classic Lovely as a Tree stamp set and used Pool Party ink and then sponged Island Indigo ink randomly on the stamp before stamping on Whisper White cardstock to add to another element of that ombre feel.  I used the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits to cut the piece out and then sponged around the edge in Island Indigo ink before attaching it to the cardfront with dimensionals.

The final touch was to add the greeting, and for this I used the Sweet Cupcake stamp set and stamped in Island Indigo ink on Pool Party cardstock before punching it out with the Classic Label Punch and attaching it with dimensionals as well.

This card definitely has the "blue feel" to it but there is nothing sad and is perfect to wish someone happy birthday.  The other members of the design team are sharing some great cards using this same theme so make sure to go check them out.

30 Day Gratitude Challenge: Day 10

Good afternoon!  I'm sharing today's gratitude card a little later than usual since I had a couple things come up this morning.  We're bracing for some really cold weather this weekend that's coming in today so it's only fitting that today's card has that colder, winter feeling.

I started with Sahara Sand Cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Pool Party cardstock as a mat for the Whisper White cardfront.  On the cardfront I embossed using the Big Shot and Winter Wonder Embossing folder and flipped the paper so the debossed side is up.  Next I cut out a few snowflakes from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits using Silver Glimmer Paper, Island Indigo, and Bermuda Bay cardstock. 

The greeting is once again from the Sweet Cupcake stamp set and was stamped in Bermuda Bay ink on Whisper White and then cut it out with the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits.  I used the Colorful Seasons stamp set to stamp the snowflakes using Island Indigo and Pool Party ink.  Before attaching the greeting to the cardfront I added a couple pieces of Pool Party 3/8" Glimmer Ribbon behind the greeting and then attached it with dimensionals.

I was so happy with how this card turned, it's perfect for winter greetings.  This is one of the cards that we'll be making in tomorrow's Mega Christmas Cards Class (with a holiday greeting) and know they will love it just as much!

30 Day Gratitude Challenge: Day 8

Good morning!  Today I have a fun masculine card for today's gratitude card which was designed for my Mega Christmas cards class but when I made my set of cards I turned them into thank you's all ready to go.  I really like this card because it has a wintery feeling but it doesn't scream Christmas, plus it uses a stamp set that you wouldn't normally think of using with Christmas cards, Sweet Cupcake.

I started with Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of designer series paper from the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper that was matted with Basic Black cardstock.  (I like having this site of DSP when using the 6x6 stacks because you can get two cards out of each piece (just cut them to 3" x 4 1/4".  Then I added a strip of Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper down the center.

for the main element I used the Big Shot and Layering Ovals Framelits to cut out the oval from Whisper White cardstock as well as the little ground piece which is Crumb Cake and then I freehand cut the top to look like a rolling hill.  I used the Cardfront Builder Thinlits to cut the deer out of Early Espresso cardstock and the tree using Old Olive.  Dimensionals and Mini Dimensionals were used to attach the tree.

The greeting, from Sweet Cupcake, was stamped in Early Espresso ink on Whisper White cardstock and then cut out with the Layering Ovals Framelits.  I sponged around the edge with Old Olive ink before attaching the greeting with dimensionals.

Not only is this card cute but it's relatively easy to make, die cut all the pieces and stamp one greeting and your done so you could easily make multiples of this.  I like to help my attendees, especially when we're making a lot of cards by precutting most of the elements and it takes me the same amount of time as cutting pieces of cardstock for them to run through the Big Shot, win-win for everyone.
