Can You Case it? Design Team - Sketch Challenge CYCI #71

Happy Sunday!  The start of the holiday weekend has been going great and ready to enjoy two more days.  I know this may shock you but I have another race this morning (I know, after this one there really is a break for awhile, but I couldn’t pass up this opportunity so we’ll see how today goes, at least it’s cooler than last Sunday!  For this weeks Can You Case It? Sketch challenge we were given a color challenge to use at least two of the 2013-2015 In Colors (they will be retiring on June 2) along with gold, and you know my love of bling so this was fun to see what I could come up with, I also used LOTS of retiring products in this card, just because I can!

I started with Baked Brown Sugar cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Pistachio Pudding cardstock that I embossed with the Big Shot and the Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder (this was one of the first embossing folders we ever came out with and I love it and crying inside that it’s retiring (thankfully I not only have mine but a backup so I’ll be polka dot crazy as long as I want!!)  Next I added a piece of Lullaby Designer Series Paper (it’s great using DSP for more than the presented theme) and matted it with Hello Honey cardstock.  I wrapped a piece of Coastal Cabana Thick Baker’s Twine around the DSP layer for fun.

For the main stamped image I used the Bootiful Occasions stamp set and stamped the boot in Baked Brown Sugar ink on Whisper White cardstock and colored it in with Stampin’ Write Markers before cutting it out with the Big Shot and the Label Collection Framelits (also retiring).  I cut a mat for the stamped image using the same framelits and some Gold Foil Cardstock and then embossed it with the Fancy Fans Embossing Folder.  The final touch was to add the greeting; it’s stamped on So Saffron cardstock and punched out with the Large Oval Punch and then matted with Baked Brown Sugar cardstock and the Scalloped Oval Punch.

I love the colors in this card, these have been some of my favorite in colors as a set and are sad to say goodbye but we have some fun new one’s coming that we will love just as much. Make sure to check out the other design team creations for further inspiration and then come play along, we love to see what others create.

Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Challenge: Bootiful Occasions

Good Morning and we're in for another crazy weather week, can you believe we may actually get more snow?  Really??  All I know is I'm determined to enjoy every nice day we have and this weekend was wonderful, I was actually able to leave my gloves and winter clothes at home on my runs this weekend which was wonderful.  Today I'm playing along with this weeks Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Challenge and decided to get a head start on upcoming birthdays and thought this would be perfect for my dad.  I'm going to start by saying I sponged pretty much every layer with Crumb Cake ink (this way I don't have to say it for each layer, it really helps soften the colors).  I started with Crumb Cake for the cardbase and added a layer of Crushed Curry and then Midnight Muse cardstock underneath a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and the Lattice Embossing Folder.

For the main stamped image I used the Bootiful Occasions stamp set (this cowboy boot is perfect for dad) and I ink the stamp with Early Espresso, Tangerine Tango, and Crushed Curry Stampin' Write Markers.  I used a Blender Pen and Classic Inks to color in the cowboy boot.  This layer is matted with Tangerine Tango and I added flags of Midnight Muse 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon, along with some Burlap Ribbon (that I trimmed the edges off the ribbon and distressed it).  The greeting is from the same stamp set and I used Stampin' Write Markers to color in the stamp before stamping, punched it out with the Oval Punch and then matted it with Crushed Curry that was punched with the Scallop Oval Punch.  I did use dimensionals to attach the greeting to the card.

Did you notice the final little detail?  I made a little lasso with Linen Thread and a Vintage Trinket brad, isn't it cute? I really like how cute this turned out and it's definitely manly.  This is a fun color combination that I wouldn't have tried before but I may be using it again.

Enjoy and have a great day,

Halloween Convention Swaps, Cards and 3D Fun!

Happy Friday!  This morning I got up early to get my run in before our morning General session, since we have a full day ahead of us, had to get that workout in early.  For this share I have two Halloween projects, a card and a 3D item.  So I was a little thrown off when the new catalog was released since there were no holiday stamps in the catalog.  This made me really think outside of the box and I decided to use the Mosaic Madness stamp set along with the That's the Ticket stamp set.  I'm loving the Quatrafancy Embossing folder and the new Chevron Ribbon (I used Smoky Slate and Pumpkin Pie and it's beautiful, so soft!)  Lot's of sponging helped soften all the layers.

My second project is a fun little treat holder that uses the Milk Carton Bigz die as the base and then I created a cute lid with a scalloped trim (it's also embossed with the Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder).  The stamp set I used is the Bootiful Occasions stamp set and I stamped and colored in the book (matted on an oval cut out with the Oval Collections Framelits).  I used the Perfect Polka Dot DSP for the Pumpkin Pie DSP layer.

Here's a close up of the greeting.  It's punched out with the oval punch and then matted with the scallop oval punch and attached with the Whisper White Baker's Twine.  These projects are so fun, it's really getting me in the holiday spirit and I can't wait to get some of the new Halloween products from this years Holiday catalog so I can create even more fabulous projects.

You could definitely change the colors, and stamp set to make these projects perfect for any occasion!

Enjoy,

Fab Friday Color Challenge: Bootiful Occasions

Happy Wednesday friends!  It's going to be another hot and humid day (summer has definitely arrived) so I hope you're able to stay cool.  Today I'm sharing a card I made for this weeks Fab Friday Color challenge and these bright, cheery, In Colors are perfect for a hot day, they remind me of ice cream.  I started with a Baked Brown Sugar cardbase and then added a layer of Whisper White that I ran through the Big Shot with the Mosaic Madness Embossing Folder.  I used my Crisp Cantaloupe ink and a sponge dauber to lightly add ink to the raised part of the embossed design so it really stands out.  Next I added a piece of Coastal Cabana designer series paper from the 2013-2015 In Color Paper stack that I  punched along the edge with the scallop border punch.  For lots of fun and dimension I added three layers of the new In Color Stretch Ruffle Ribbon, in Strawberry Slush, Baked Brown Sugar, and Pistachio Pudding (this ribbon is so soft and awesome).

For the main stamped image I used the Bootiful Occasions stamp set (this rain boot is so cute!)  I stamped it in Baked Brown Sugar and then colored in the boot with Stampin' Write Markers.  This piece was matted on a piece of Pistachio Pudding cardstock before attaching it to the card with dimensionals.

I don't normally use this many different colors on a card but I love how these all compliment each other so well and they're so fresh.  I'll definitely be using these colors in a lot more projects in the future so I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.  If you want further inspiration with these colors hop on over to the Fab Friday blog site and check out the projects from the design team and other fabulous stampers participating in the challenge.

Enjoy!
