Fab Friday Color Challenge #FabFri158: Healing Hugs

Good morning!

I hope you had an enjoyable weekend, ours was full of lots of sports and activities as usual but I was able to sneak away for a little bit of crafting fun and decided to play along with this weeks Fab Friday color challenge.  As soon as I saw these colors I knew this had to been a floral card (it would also help get me out of the snow and rain funk we've been having) so I decided to use the Healing Hugs stamp set, which had just arrived in my last order so I hadn't had a chance to ink it up yet.  I also decided to stick with the #simplestamping these and let the stamps be the stars.

I started with Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock as a mat for the Whisper White cardfront.  On the card front I started by stamping the open leaf image several times in the bottom left corner with Mossy Meadow ink and then used my Blender pen to color in the image so get different levels of color in the leaf.  I also stamped the cross stitch image using Crumb Cake ink and the greeting was stamped in Calypso Coral.

For the flower I started by inking the whole stamp with Petal Pink ink and then used a sponge to add little hints of Calypso Coral here and there.  After stamping I cut the flower out with Paper Snips and attached it to the cardfront with dimensionals.  To finish off the card I added some Petal Pink pears from the Share What You Love Artisan Pearls and then a double bow tied with Calypso Coral 1/8" Sheer Ribbon.

This stamp is one of the new ones in the DistINKive line so there is some great texture in the flower image that is so much better when you look at it up close. It's also great to have get well cards in your stash  and ready to go for when you find out someone is under the weather, and this will certainly brighten someone's day!

Broadway Bound Birthday: Aidan's 14!!

Good morning!

Today is a special day in our house, our "baby" turns 14 (really how is that possible??)  I've resolved myself to the fact that I'm officially the shortest one in my family but I still remember like yesterday bringing him home from the hospital.  Of course I had to make him a special card and I knew the Broadway Bound Products Suite would be perfect!

I started with Granny Apple Green cardstock for the cardbase and then added Basic Black for the cardfront which was embossed with the Big Shot and Simple Stipes Embossing Folder.  The Broadway Bound Speciality Designer Series Paper has so many fun foil patterns I added it as the patterned piece and wrapped a piece of Granny Apple Green 1/2" Textured Weave Ribbon around the DSP.

Next I used the Broadway Birthday stamp set to stamp the "Make a" on Granny Apple Green cardstock and cut it out with the Classic Label Punch.  The "Wish" was cut out of Gold Glimmer Paper using the coordinating Broadway Lights Framelits and the little party hat is one of the patterns in the DSP and there's a coordinating die that cuts it out perfectly.

To finish off the card I used the new It's Your Birthday stamp set (from the Occasions catalog) and after stamping in Granny Apple Green ink I cut it out with the Big Shot and Rectangle Stitched Framelits and used dimensionals to attach it after sponging around the edge with Basic Black ink.

I showed hubby the card and his comment was "WOW, lots of glitter!"  I said yes because my kiddo loves the glitter just like his mama!!  We're going to spend the weekend celebrating which should be lots of fun.

Fab Friday Sketch Challenge 147: Broadway Bound Christmas Greetings

Good evening!  When you look at the Broadway Bound product suite it's easy to think about birthdays of course, but I wanted to show some alternate uses and since I'm sure you would normally think of Christmas that was what I decided to make (understanding that of course I did need a couple of other items for the greeting.  I'm using the Fab Friday sketch challenge as inspiration for the layout and went from there.

I started with Mint Macaron cardstock for the cardbase and then added Tranquil Tide cardstock for the cardfront and stamped all over the front using the diamond image from the Broadway Birthday stamp set using Tranquil Tide ink and then added a piece of the gold foil designer series paper from the Broadway Bound Specialty Designer Series Paper.

For the greeting I used the Broadway Lights framelits and the Big Shot to cut the black inside of the lights image as the mat for the greeting and the "happy" was cut using the Merry Christmas Thinlits and Mint Macaron cardstock.  The rest of the greeting is from the Merry Christmas to All stamp set and was stamped in Tranquil Tide ink on Whisper White cardstock and then I used a die from the thinlits to cut it out and dimensionals help pop it up.  The final touch was to tie a double bow using Basic Black Solid Baker's Twine.

I have to admit this card doesn't have the feel of a traditional Christmas card but works and has more of a retro feel and I love the mix of products to come up with something unexpected.  Oh so fun!

Broadway Bound Birthday Greetings!

Good evening!  It's been a crazy day but I couldn't end the day without sharing another fun card made using the Broadway Bound Product Suite (it was one of my favorites when the annual catalog was first released)

I started with Lovely Lipstick cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Gray Granite cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and Subtle Dynamic Embossing Folder along with two different patterns of paper from the Broadway Bound Speciality Designer Series Paper.

Next I used the Broadway Birthday stamp set and coordinating Broadway Lights Framelits (don't forget you can purchase these items as a bundle and save 10%) to make the main greeting element (I love that this stamp set included the matching dot images so you can make the words look like they are on the marquee.

To finish off the card I added a fun party hat that is actually part of the Designer Series Paper and was cut out with the framelits, and used a dimensional to attach the party hat.

I love every single element in this card, and that little strip of gold foil paper dresses it up and will make someone's birthday extra special!

SSINKspiration All About Apples: Picked for You

Good morning! It seems like fall is starting to arrive and here in  VA we are very relieved that we will not be experiencing the worse of Hurricane Florence this weekend and are sending our thoughts for safety to those in the impacted areas.  Lots of things (other than hurricanes) make me think of fall, one of which is the arrival of apple season so today the SSINKspiration team is sharing projects using apples as our theme.

When the new Annual catalog was released I loved the Picked for You stamp set since it's perfect for teacher projects but I put off ordering it since it was released right at the end of school so I just received this set yesterday (yikes!!) and rushed into the studio to make this card.

I started with Granny Apple Green cardstock for the cardbase and then added Crumb Cake cardstock as the cardfront.  On this piece I used the Burlap stamp set and stamped in the corner using Basic Black ink.  I just wanted the trim detail to add a fun look to the fall blanket I had in mind.  Next I used the Buffalo Check stamp set and stamped in Basic Black ink on Cherry Cobbler cardstock and trimmed it out to make my picnic blanket (how fun is this??)

For the main stamped images I used Stampin' Write Markers to color the greeting directly on the stamp and then stamped on Whisper White cardstock before cutting it out with the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits and added a green Glitter Enamel Dot as an accent.  Then I stamped the apple using Soft Sea Foam and Granny Apple Green (full strength and stamped off once to color the apple) and the stem is Early Espresso.  With this shape it's really easy to cut it out with Paper Snips and used dimensionals to attach the apple on the picnic blanket.

I was so happy with how this turned out, between the apple and the picnic blanket it makes me think of crisp fall days, I can't wait for our weather to start heading in that direction!  Go check out the other cards the design team is sharing for more inspiration for your fall themed projects.
