Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Scrapbook Challenge: Gone Fishin'

 Good morning and we're back after a fun-filled weekend!  I can tell that fall has definitely decided to stick around since the weather is cooler, the leaves are falling, and the feeling of fall is all around.  Today over on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Blog we're playing with this months scrapbook sketch.  I really like these scrapbook sketches since it gives me a motivation to continue working on my pages, and since I'm making this years scrapbook in My Digital Studio (MDS) it's even easier since I'm able to work on my projects anytime, any place and all my tools are right on my laptop.  Plus with all the great features in the latest version of MDS you're able to crop and recolor elements, just to name a few functions, so you have endless options.

 

This past summer Aidan spend a couple of weeks out in Washington State visiting his grandparents and great grandparents.  He had a great time spending time with family and just being a kid.  One of the great things my parents did was take pictures of all the things they did during Aidan's visit and would send them to us each day so Chris and I were able to enjoy all the fun they were having.  While Aidan was at my dad's house they basically spent the week fishing (a first for Aidan) so this page shows some of the fun the boys were having fishing at the local pond.  Love it when when kids can just relax and enjoy being young.

Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Challenge: Bite Me

Happy Friday peeps!  What a crazy week (even worse than most in our house).  I'm so looking forward to spending some quality time at home this weekend, plus baseball season is wrapping up, we only have this weekend and next and then we're done until spring.  Today I have another fun Halloween card to share with you for this weeks Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Challenge.   I was so excited last month when Stampin' Up! announced the new Photopolymer Stamp Set, Bite Me.  It has such great images, plus don't we all need a stamp that says "Bite Me"?  So awesome!!! 

This card starts with a cardbase of Tangerine Tango and added layers of Garden Green and Elegant Eggplant under the Smoky Slate layer.  On this I stamped the spider web in Basic Black ink and the splotches in Elegant Eggplant and Garden Green ink.  I added a piece of Tangerine Tango Designer Series Paper and stamped the cute little spiders directly on the DSP.  The fun little Ric-rack border was cut with the Big Shot and the Tasteful Trim XL Bigz Die.  I stamped another spider on Elegant Eggplant cardstock and punched it out with the Small Oval Punch, a small string of rhinestones was added to look like the spiders string.

 

I had to use the "Bite Me" image so it was stamped with Tangerine Tango ink, punched out with the 1 1/4" Circle Punch and then matted with Basic Black cardstock that was punched with the 1 3/8" Circle Punch.  The final touch was to stamp the greeting (love all the different images in this stamp set, there really is everything) on Smoky Slate cardstock with Elegant Eggplant ink and punched it out with the Modern Label Punch.  I used dimensionals for the oval spider and the greetings so there is lots of dimension.

Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge: Hello, Lovely

Good morning friends!  This is a really crazy week with the family but I wanted to share this really fun, and easy card I create for this weeks Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge.   This card starts with a cardbase of So Saffron with a layer of Bermuda Bay under Whisper White cardstock.  I used the Hello, Lovely stamp set to stamp the amphersign, and thank you greeting.  The arrow is from the same stamp set but I stamped in on a scrap of cardstock and cut it out with paper snips so I could pop it up with dimensionals.  The thank you greeting is matted with Bermuda Bay cardstock and attached with dimensionals. 

I wanted to add something to the top right corner of the card so I used my go to stamp, Gorgeous Grunge to stamp the splatter and strips.  The final touch was to add a few randomly placed rhinestones for a sparkly touch.

This card came together nice and quickly which I love.  It's also nice and mailable which makes it perfect for everyday use and could change up the color combination and greeting for any occasion.

Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge: Christmas Collectibles

Happy Tuesday friends!  I feel like we're finally starting to dry out and I had such a fun day yesterday, I was able to take a break from work and meet Aidan at school and have lunch with him and his class.  I love that he gets so excited for me to come in and wishes I could every day, I know this isn't going to last forever so I  want to take advantage of it while I can (they grow up way too fast!)  Today I'm back and excited to share a quick and pretty card I made for this weeks Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge.  I loved the clean and simple lines in this sketch and immediately knew what I wanted to do when I saw it.  The cardbase is Pool Party and I added a layer of Basic Black and Whisper White.  I stamped the greeting in the bottom right corner with Island Indigo ink and the More Merry Messages stamp set (I was so happy this stamp set carried over). 

 

For the focal image I started by stamping an ornament from the Christmas Collectibles stamp set in Island Indigo and punched it out with the coordinating Christmas Ornament Punch.  I used a piece of Silver Ribbon as the ornament hanger.  Next I cut out two ovals, one in Pool Party and another in Island Indigo with the Big Shot and the Oval Collection Framelits.  I did embossed the one oval with the Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder.  I used dimensionals to attach the ornament and the top oval for lots of dimension.  Next I used the Paper Piercer and Occasions Paper Piercing Pack to pierce ovals in the different layers.  The final touch was to add a Basic Black button as an accent and used some Island Indigo Baker's Twine to tie a bow in the button.

 

This card is nice and simple but has lots of little elements that draw your attention which I love!  This is also a great card when you have to make multiples since it comes together so quickly.  Have you decided on the design for your Christmas cards?  If not hopefully this provides some inspriation, I would love to help you with your card needs so just ask me how.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Blog: Card Sketch Challenge, Halloween Happiness

Good morning friends!  I think we've survived the rain, what a crazy weekend, I really didn't know if the rain was ever going to end.  So we had planned on having a full weekend, including a baseball game, and Cub Scout Camping but the game ended up being cancelled and we decided that in the best interested of the health, and sanity of our family that we were going to pass on camping.  This meant we had a whole "found" weekend so we were able to relax and spend some quality time together, and even watched some movies.  I was also able to spend some quality time in the studio stamping which I really enjoyed.

 

Today I'm sharing my card for this months card sketch on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog and of course it's another Halloween themed creation.  This card uses the really cute Halloween Happiness stamp set and I love the little pumpkin images.  The cardbase is Sahara Sand and I embossed it with the Big Shot and the Pretty Print Textured Embossing Folder.  Then I added a piece of Sweater Weather designer series paper that was matted on Crushed Curry cardstock that was punched with the Scallop Trim Border Punch.

 

I used different colored Stampin' Write Markers to color the pumpkins directly on the rubber to get all the different colors at once. This piece is matted with Chocolate Chip cardstock. The banner uses the greeting from the same stamp and was stamped on Tangerine Tango cardstock before cutting tails on one end. The final touch was to add a Neutral Button that had a bow tied with Linen Thread. 

 

This card turned out so cute and is a fun and whimsical twist to Halloween greetings, I hope you enjoyed.  Remember this card sketch is available all month so please play along and you can share your card on the SSI blog for all to enjoy.

So I have a bonus project for you this morning.  I used the Today and Everyday My Digitial Studio Photobook download for this two page scrapbook layout.  I love using the predesigned templates since so much of the work his done for you all you need to to is drop in the photos, add your text, and change any elements you want.  I made these two pages during lunch one day at work (love that I can carry all my scrapbooking supplies with my in my laptop when I use MDS, I'm able to work on my pages anytime, anywhere).  I did remove all the flower embellishments and added more star elements to go along with the theme of the pages.  Here are the final pages:

Fab Friday Color Challenge: Toil and Trouble

Whoo hoo!  Even though it’s another cold, rainy day here I’m excited, because it’s Friday!!!  We have another jam packed weekend with baseball and Cub Scout camping but it’s all a  little up in the air with the weather, we’ll see what happens.  What I do know is that today I get to share with you my card for this weeks Fab Friday Color Challenge.  Have to admit when I first saw these colors I immediately thought of Halloween so I decided to run with it since I’ve been making lots of fall and Halloween projects lately.  This card uses the Toil and Trouble stamp set.  I stamped the main image in Basic Gray ink and stamped it on Crumb cake cardstock before cutting it out with the Big Shot and the Apothocary Accents Framelits (I love how the framelits make cutting out so many of these images a breeze, AWESOME!)  I also inked up random words from the same image and stamped them on the different colored cardstock and cut them out with Paper Snips.  All these elements were sponged around the edge with Crumb Cake ink and I attached each of the words with dimensionals so they pop.

 

The rest of the card came together very quickly, I used Tangerine Tango for the cardbase and layered a piece of Basic Black that I embossed with the Big Shot and the Hexagon Embossing Folder.  A piece of Rich Razzleberry ¼” Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon makes the perfect bow.  The final accent was the little bird that’s from the same stamp set and he was stamped with Basic Gray ink on Old Olive cardstock and cut out with Paper Snips.  Once again I used dimensionals to attach the bird and the large image. 

I have to admit, I spent a lot of time debating adding a greeting and I actually made several of them, but in the end I felt like they were a distraction on the card and it’s pretty clear what occasion this card is for anyways, so I left it nice and simple.  I love how this set makes such beautiful, elegant, and slightly spooky cards, without being grotesque (that’s not my style) and as so many fun elements that work so well together, it makes crafting so fun and easy.  I hope you enjoyed today's card and you still have time to play along with this challenge, I would love to see what you come up with, so take a little time to get crafty this weekend, you’ll love it!

Stylin' Stampin' Squad Blog Hop: Everything Fall

Thank you so much for joining us for the October Stylin’ Stampin’ Squad Blog Hop! This month we are focusing on the Fall season. It’s the time of year when fireplaces start crackling with warmth and we dig out our sweaters. This month’s blog hop will showcase many of the Stampin’ Up! products that are available to make Autumn themed creations. Today I'm sharing a card and coordinating treat box using the Truly Grateful stamp set.  This stamp set has so many great images that will work on a variety of projects, it's awesome.  For the card I started with a Very Vanilla cardbase and sponged around the edge with Sahara Sand ink.  Next I took a piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock and Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper.  A piece of Crushed Curry Chevron Ribbon was wrapped around the paper and tied with a knot.

For the main stamped image I stamped the wheat image in Chocolate Chip ink on Very Vanilla cardstock.  I colored in the image with Stampin' Write Markers and then cut it out with the Big Shot and the Deco Labels Framelits before sponging around edge with Sahara Sand ink.  I used dimensionals to attach the stamped image over the ribbon. The final touch was to add the greeting that was stamped on Sahara Sand cardstock with Chocolate Chip ink.  Dimensionals make the greeting pop up as well.

Every Thanksgiving I like to make a special treat for all the kids at our celebration so I decided to make a coordinating treat box that's perfect. I started with a piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock for the bottom of the box and Sahara Sand for the top.  I scored around all four sides and cut up on the tabs to make the box.  Before assembling the top I stamped all over with the wood chevron image from the Truly Grateful stamp set. 

 

After the box was assembled I added a belly band with the Sweater Weather DSP and used the same DSP and the Decorative Label Punch to cut out the Chocolate Chip accent piece.  The greeting is stamped on Pumpkin Pie ink and sponged with Sahara Sand ink.  I also stamped the acorn image on Crushed Curry cardstock, cut it out with Paper Snips, sponged around the edge, and used the Sahara Sand Stampin' Write Marker to color in the top of the acorn.  The final element was to tie a know with the Natural 7/16" trim.

 

I really like how the box turned out and think the kids will love opening them and enjoying their special treats. 

 

I hope I've given you some inspiration and remember you can use any of these designs and projects for different holidays and occasions.  This set also makes great masculine cards, the possibilities are endless.

Hand Stamped Sentiments Sketch Challenge: Best of Halloween

Good morning friends!  It's the start to another week and I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  I spent the weekend at a crafting retreat and I had so much fun relax and hanging out with friends, and of course non-stop crafting.  I got so many things accomplished, I can't wait to share them all.  Today I'm sharing the card I made for this weeks Hand Stamped Sentiments sketch challenge.  Of course for this weeks card I decided to make a Halloween card and used the new Best of Halloween stamp set.  These stamp sets are so fun, they're being released all year long, one per month, in honor of Stampin' Up!'s 25th anniversary and feature selected images from previously retired stamp sets, as well as a new image in each set.  The fun thing about these sets is that the images are smaller than the originally released versions so they are great for our punches.

This card is pretty straightforward, the cardbase is Summer Starfruit and I added a layer of Basic Black cardstock that had a strip of Smoky Slate cardstock and 3/8" Summer Starfruit Stitched Satin Ribbon.  For the main stamped image I stamped it on Very Vanilla cardstock with Basic Black ink and colored in the moon with the Summer Starfruit Stampin' Write Marker.  This was punched out with the 1 3/4" circle punch and is matted with a circle of Smoky Slate cut with the Big Shot and the Circle Collection Framelits and Pumpkin Pie cardstock punched with the 2 3/8" scalloped circle punch.  I used dimensionals to pop up the layers and added some tags using the Witches Brew Designer Series Paper and the Smoky Slate Chevron Ribbon.  The greeting is from the same Best of Halloween stamp set and is stamped with Pumpkin Pie ink and attached with dimensionals.

 

I love all the layers and dimension to this card, plus it's flat enough that it's post office friendly.  This is definitely a sketch you're going to want to save since it's so versatile and remember, there's still time to complete your Halloween projects so if you need anything, please let me know, I can help.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Blog: Flippin' Awesome Halloween Card

Good morning friends!  So by now you know how much I enjoy Halloween and have been working on Halloween projects for the past couple of months so I was so excited when I saw that today's topic on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Blog today was Halloween.  I'm also loving the new Thinlet Card dies so I thought it would be perfect to combine the two for this fun Halloween card

I started with a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock and ran it through the Big Shot with the Label Thinlet Card die to create my cardbase.  For the back panel a took a piece of Witches Brew Designer Series paper and ran it through the Big Shot with the same die so the panel would match.  For the front I started by taking the stamp from the Halloween Bash stamp set and stamped the words in a row all down the front before adding a strip of DSP from the same Witches Brew package as well as a little sliver of Silver Glimmer paper.  I wanted a fun element to finish off the front panel so I stamped the bird image from the Toil and Trouble stamp set on Smoky Slate cardstock with Basic Black ink and cut it out with Paper Snips before attaching it to the card with dimensionals.

 

To create the front label element I took a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and stamped part of the large text image from the Toil and Trouble stamp set before cutting it with the framelit piece that fits inside the twisting label.  I sponged around the edge with Crumb Cake ink and then used Two Way Glue to add some Black Glitter around the edge.

I had to make a decorative piece for the inside twisting frame element so I used the label framelit to cut out a coordinating piece of Witches Brew DSP and then added the greeting from the Tags 4 You stamp set and punched it out with the matching Bracket Label Punch.

This card has so many fun elements, it's sure to please.  I have to warn you about these thinlet dies, it provides lots of opportunity to decorate and you'll want to continue adding elements so you'll find that you want to keep adding more and more (so fun!)  You'll definitely want to check out the other great projects on the Blog for other Halloween ideas.

Fab Friday Sketch Challenge: Full of Halloween Fun

Good morning!  What a fabulous weekend.  We got back from our cruise yesterday and had so much fun, it was great to rest and relax and just enjoy time as a family.  We love Disney cruises and would highly recommend it.  I have lots of pictures and adventures to share but we have to get back into the routine.  Today I'm sharing my card for this weeks Fab Friday sketch challenge.  This was a nice simple challenge so it really gives you some creative flexibility.  I have Halloween on my mind this week so I decided to use this challenge to make a fun-filled Halloween card.  The cardbase is Pumpkin Pie and I added a piece of Witches Brew Designer series paper.  For three of the four elements I used the Label Bracket Punch to punch out three different patterns from the same package of DSP.  I added different stamped images from the Halloween Hello stamp set as fun elements on each of the panels.  The fourth panel uses the Tags 4 You stamp set and was punched out with the same punch, attached with dimensionals and I added rhinestones for accents.

 

The final touch was to add a strip along the bottom so I took a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and stamped the candy corn image from the Halloween Hello stamp set and colored it in with Pumpkin Pie and Summer Starfruit.  The last touch was to add a piece of Summer Starfruit Stitched Satin Ribbon.

This card is so fun and festive, it would sure to make anyone get into the Halloween spirit.  I love to send Halloween cards to friends and family since it's not a huge card sending occasion so it's more of a surprise.  You should give it a try and brighten someones day when they receive a special card you stamped, wrote in, and mailed (instant happiness for you and the receiver).

Spread the Joy and Lots of Fall Fun!

Happy Friday friends!  I hope you've had an enjoyable week.  As you're reading this our cruise ship has docked in Nassau and we're enjoying a day in the sun in the Bahamas, so relaxing.  As you may know, Stampin' Up! announced a new contest where you can design images and submit them and if selected your images will be made into an actual stamp set and offered for sale (how cool is that?)  The first contest was for entries by Stampin' Up! employees and Emily Montoya's submission was selected as a winner and became the Spread the Joy stamp set that was released for sale in July.  Unfortunately since this stamp set isn't in one of the catalog's it's easy to overlook it but it has some absolutely wonderful images that are very fresh.  So I decided so  show you one of the great images from this set.

 

This card came together came together easily and starts with a Sahara Sand cardbase.  I added a layer of Chocolate Chip cardstock and I embossed the top of it with the Big Shot and the Pretty Print Embossing Folder.  I added a layer of Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper.  I've been working on another project using the Tasteful Tablescape kit so I had all the elements out on my desk and thought that this strip of birch paper ribbon and ruffled it up nice.  Next I added some Linen Thread and tied on a Pumpkin Pie button.  The greeting is from the Spread the Joy stamp set and was stamped in Chocolate Chip ink and matted on a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock.

 

This card is full of texture and dimension, which is so fun.  I love each element and they work so well together.

Stampin' Stylin' INKspiration Blog: Special Season Christmas Card

Happy Tuesday!  I don't know about you but I have so many things on my To Do list and projects I want to make that I need to work ahead of the holidays, for example, I'm wrapping up all my Halloween gift projects and our family Christmas Cards are all made (minus the family picture).  This allows me time to work on other projects and create fun and fabulous classes to help inspire you.  As a result I tend to work way ahead of the current season so today's topic on the Stampin' Stylin' INKspiration Blog, Christmas Cards, is perfect timing.

As soon as I saw the Special Season stamp set in the Holiday catalog I knew it would make absolutely beautiful card without a lot of effort.  I used the Winter Frost Speciality Designer Series Paper for the colors of this card and started with a Coastal Cabana cardbase.  Next I added a layer of the DSP.  The main focal image is from the Special Season stamp set and was stamped in Smoky Slate ink and is matted with a piece of Island Indigo Cardstock, and then a layer of Brushed Silver Cardstock.  I used dimensionals to attached the entire stamped image stack for some added pop.  The greeting is from the same stamp set and is stamped in Island Indigo ink and then I cut around the edge for a nice delicate effect.  The final touch was to add a small bow tied with the Bermuda Bay 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon.

Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Challenge: Gently Falling Meets Really Good Greetings

Good morning and welcome to the start of another week.  This is a really exciting week for us as we're going on a short vacation at the end of the week and we haven't told Aidan about it so it's going to be a huge surprise and it's driving me nuts not telling him.  Thankfully I've had some time in the studio so I still have lots of great projects to share so never fear.  Today I'm sharing my card for this weeks  Hand Stamped Sentiments Color challenge.  This is a fun color combination and when I first saw it I immediately thought of Christmas, but then I decided to do something different.  I used the Gently Falling stamp set for the three pieces of Very Vanilla and I stamped all the leaves (with the two step stamps it makes it a breeze to color in) and then cut them apart after stamping so they flow.  I matted these pieces on a layer of Gumball Green cardstock and added them to the Baked Brown Sugar cardbase.

I added a piece of Raspberry Ripple Stitched Satin Ribbon for texture.  The greeting is from the Really Good Greetings stamp set and I used the Stampin' Write Markers to color directly on the stamp to add multiple colors at once (I have to admit this was one of the first techniques I learned with stamping and it instantly WOW'd me, and still does).  I used the Big Shot and the Oval Collection Framelits to cut out the greeting, and sponged around the edge with Crumb Cake ink before attaching it to the card with dimensionals.  The final touch was to add a few half pearls, because everyone loves a little bling!

 

This card turned out so great and you could easily change the greeting for anything, birthdays, thank you, thanksgiving, etc, and keep everything else in the card the same, and changing up colors offers even more possibilities.  I hope you enjoyed and make sure to check out some of the other great creations for the challenge, such great ideas.

Paper Player's Sketch Challenge: Perfectly Grungey Halloween Wishes

Good morning!  Today I'm looking forward to the start of another action packed weekend after finishing up the work week in a few hours.  Today's card is for this weeks Paper Player's Sketch challenge and is all about kid's, which I love!  Since I've been hard at work on Halloween projects for the past couple of weeks I immediately thought of the cute little pumpkin from the Perfectly You hostess stamp set and knew it would be perfect for my little pumpkin, or yours!  The cardbase is Basic Gray and I added a layer of Very Vanilla Cardstock.  At the bottom I added a strip of Witches Brew designer series paper along with the coordinating Witches Brew Washi Tape (this stuff is so easy to use and addictive).  The greeting is from the Perfectly You hostess set and was stamped in Pumpkin Pie ink and punched out with the Hexagon Punch.  I decided to mat the hexagon with a piece of Witches Brew DSP that was punched out with the Label Bracket Punch.  I used dimensionals on both the hexagon and bracket piece so it really pops.

For the top corner I decided to use my go to stamp set, Gorgeous Grunge and stamped the images in Pumpkin Pie, Summer Starfruit, and Smoky Slate.  I had to use another piece of Washi tape to help balance the project and finished it off with a few randomly placed rhinestones, love the sparkle (Aidan loves to use rhinestones and glitter on his projects so I had to include them).

This card is really clean and simple and so fun, all the little ghosts and pumpkins will love it!  I've noticed that I haven't used my Big Shot in the past several projects I've worked on which is so rare, but it's fun to change things up and show you can make cute and fun projects with just a few simple items.
