Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Scrapbook Sketch Challenge: SSInkLS22

Good morning!  We survived the weekend and had a wonderful time at the BBQ but are still resting and recovering from all the fun.  It's the 3rd Monday of the month, which means over on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog it's time for a scrapbook sketch challenge.  After finishing my 2013 ad 2014 albums I was excited to get started on this years book.  Unfortunately, with the retirement of My Digital Studio earlier this month, this is the last month I'll be using this software for sketch challenges.  I'm still planning on working on digital projects, including our albums but for personal use (love I still have access to all my downloads and projects to continue to enjoy).  We were given a fun challenge this month so I decided to start with a predesigned page layout and then changed it up to fit our challenge (I love the banner and colors on this page an didn't want to start from scratch with all the elements.

This page was from our visit to Hilton Head Island earlier this month, it was a great trip and I enjoyed reliving the fun looking through pictures.  This layout is great and would make a great projects for a décor item (perhaps for a Father's Day gift, graduation, etc.)  Make sure to check out the other design team creations and then come play along in the fun!

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Scrapbook Sketch Challenge: SSInkLS21

Good morning!  We're starting another week and looking forward to the upcoming Memorial Day weekend (holiday weekends are always better).  Since it's the third Monday of the month, you know that it's time for another scrapbook challenge over on the
Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog.  I had another race this weekend which was a lot of fun but since I'm working on trying to finish up my 2013 and 2014 digital albums before the end of the month when My Digital Studio and digital print products are retired I decided to use this months sketch for a race I was in last year.  I like to include all these pictures in my yearly album to remember how far we've come an each moment and since a lot of these layouts really highlight just a picture or two it's perfect.  I loved the Nike Women's Half Marathon last year in DC (unfortunately they're not having it in DC this year). At the end of the race instead of getting the usual race medal you get these beautiful Tiffany necklaces by these charming hotties (who wouldn't want to run 13.1 miles if you knew this would be at the end??)

I was able to use lots of different DSP prints and colors for the elements on this page.  It is nice that even after My Digital Studio is retired I'll still be able to use the program and all the downloads I've purchased to continue making projects, just working to make sure I've back ups of everything!  Don't forget to make sure you have this program and any downloads you want downloaded before the end of the month so you can continue using this great tool for your future project (and if you have any projects in work finish them up so you can get them ordered before the print products services are no longer available).

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration April Scrapbook Sketch Challenge

Good morning!  After a wonderful weekend it's time to start another week and see what's in store for us.  The third Monday of the month brings the scrapbook sketch challenge over on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog so it's a great opportunity to get another layout completed.  As you may have heard Stampin' Up! will be discontinuing the My Digital Studio program after May 30.  I'm really sad about this as I use the program regularly so I've got some work ahead of me to try to get my 2013 and 2014 annual scrapbook albums completed so I can get them ordered and printed using the Stampin' Up! professional print services.

For this months layout I decided o  use a couple of pictures from when we spent the say at Kings Dominion back in 2013.  I used the Nobody's Business kit for the initial layout and most of the elements on the page.  It was fun playing with this layout and using lots of different elements and patterns of paper for fun.  I love looking back at pictures and seeing how we've change (especially Aidan!!)

The other design team members have shared some beautiful pages for further inspiration so please go check them out and then play along.  When was the last time you scrapbooked?  It's been far too long for me, so I've got to get back at it to try to get these books finished.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration: Scrapbook Sketch Challenge #SSINKLS19

Good morning!  What crazy, fun filled weekend!  We had two basketball games and Aidan's team played so well and fought and will now be playing in the playoffs next weekend.  I have saw, with so many events and activities we're involved in sometimes it's the little things that really make a memory.  As Aidan's gotten older one of the things he wants to do is learn how to cook and it's fun to see him experience it all.  Last summer Chris worked with Aidan to teach him how to smoke pork (one of Aidan's favorite foods) and it was so great watching as they worked together and had fun along the way and I know these are memories that will last so I decided to use it for this months Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog scrapbook sketch challenge.

Jenn gave us a fun sketch challenge and since I only had a couple of pictures I decide to let them be the focus and then add some DSP elements.  I also started with a predesigned page but I ended up changing almost ever element on the page so it's not even recognizable from the original.

The designers are sharing some great ideas over on the blog, using the sketch not only for scrapbook pages but also cards, so make sure to check them out.  Then you can play along and see what sparks your creativity.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration: Scrapbook Sketch Challenge #SSINKLS18

Happy Monday and Happy Presidents Day!  What a wonderful weekend but I think I need to head back to work to try to get some rest from the fun (if that's possible).  I have to say,  adore my family and spending time together and during Aidan's sleepover we got to know some of his school friends better and boy are they some great kids, so fun.  The boys are off today and enjoying the day together while I'm working.  Well since it's the third Monday of the month you know it's time for our monthly scrapbook sketch over on the  Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog.  I love these challenges as they are a great way to work on my scrapbook layouts, even if I don't get caught up, every little bit helps.

Today's page is from last years Cub Scout Pinewood Derby.  This is such a fun activity for the scouts, they take such pride in their creations, and no matter how their car performs in the race everyone has a fun time.  This is a pretty easy page that I created in My Digital Studio but I added lots of layers to help create texture and dimension to the page.

It's always great to see what other people come up with using the same layout and it really inspires me so make sure to go check out the other design team projects and then create away, remember you can use these sketches for cards, home décor, scrapbooking, the skies the limit.

Stylin' Stampin' INKpiration Scrapbook Sketch Challenge: Christmas Memories

Good morning!  Another great weekend and boy were those some interesting games yesterday to set up the teams playing in Super Bowl in a couple weeks.  The boys are enjoying an extended holiday to celebrate MLK Jr. Day while I have to work (I must admit I'm a little jealous!!)  I did take timeout from all the activities to hop onto My Digital Studio to make my layout for his months Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration scrapbook sketch challenge.  This time we were given a two page layout so I thought it would be perfect for our Christmas Day pictures.  It was such a great fun, and relaxing family day and it was fun to relive all the memories while making these pages.

Here's the sketch we were given and I stayed pretty true to the layout.  I created one page with all the elements and then just created a mirror image of the page so I didn't have to create the second page from scratch (super easy).  The other designers are sharing some alternate ideas using this layout so make sure to go check them out and then play along (I'm sure you have some pictures that are just waiting to get added to a page to preserve your memories).

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Scrapbook Sketch Challenge: Fall School Pictures

Good morning!  Another great weekend and we're now down to less than two weeks to Christmas, crazy!  Today I decided to take a break from my holiday projects for the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Scrapbook Sketch Challenge and have it completely not related to the holiday.  I love the sketch we were provided with this month and it is a great way to highlight a single picture so I decided to use Aidan's school picture from this fall.  I decided to go to My Digital Studio for this page and was actually able to make this while I waiting for Aidan at basketball practice this week (I love this flexibility!!!)
I decided to start with one of the predesigned templates and then completely changed it up to fit this sketch (this may take more time than starting from scratch but it's great to get some elements that you know work well together to get things started.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Scrapbook Sketch Challenge: Halloween Fun!

Good morning!  What a wonderful weekend, we had beautiful weather and while we were busy we enjoyed every moment, the highlight was a neighborhood Halloween party that was lots of fun.  I decided to use some of the pictures from the party for this months Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration scrapbook sketch challenge.  This is a great sketch that Jenn provided us and I let the pictures and patterned papers be the highlight.  This layout is fun with all the blocks so you can have just a couple or lots of pictures on the page, depending on what you need.

Usually the pages I make are going back to events so it was really fun to make a layout while it's so fresh in my mind.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration September Scrapbook Challenge: Rockin' the Race

Good morning and what a beautiful weekend and start to the week!  I love this time of year, you can open the windows and just enjoy the cooler weather and relax.  I'm back with a another sketch challenge, this time it's the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog September scrapbook sketch challenge.  I've been slacking a little in my memory keeping goal of a page a week so it was great to play along with this sketch that Bree gave us and used it to make a page for one of my spring races.  This was a fun race, not only was it my first spring race of the season (after training in one of the coldest winters I've ever experienced which provided some challenges).  Not only did I get to run with one of my neighbor friends but after the race I met up with Randy, a friend from college that I hadn't seen in years, which was great!

My Digital Studio made this page nice and easy (it's fun to be able to change and recolor elements and embellishments that would be much harder to do, in traditional scrapbooking).  To start this page I started out with a template page from the Convention 2012 Photobook and then deleted and rearranged elements, changed all the colors and just like that I have a completely different page that works with my pictures.  You could easily mix in some DSP pieces for some of the squares but I had too many pictures (seems to be the store of my life, oh well).

Make sure to go check out all the other great layouts the design team is sharing, so much fun.  Come play along with us and see what you can create!

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Scrapbook Sketch Challenge: A Day at the Ballpark

Good morning!  I hope you had a great weekend.  We had a very rare weekend with nothing planned and everyone at home so we took advantage and relaxed and took care of a few things around the house, which thankfully included some crafting time which felt wonderful!  It's Monday so it's time for another challenge over on the Stampin' Stylin' INKspiration blog and this week it's the scrapbook sketch challenge.  I have to admit with everything going on I haven't been working on my layouts as I would like but I'll be making up for that soon.  Today's page is a nice and simple one from when we attended a Phillies/Nationals game last year.  It was a perfect day and we had a great time cheering our team on.

Once again I went to My Digital Studio for this page and used a picture of the field that I took for the background as for an accent behind the photo (I lowered the level of opacity for a softer look).  Everything else was pretty straight forward.  Here's the sketch we were provided by Jennifer.  Make sure to go check out all the other great layouts the design team is sharing and play along for lots of fun.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration July Scrapbook Sketch Challenge: Family Matters

Happy Monday!  What an exciting week, I had a great time at convention, seeing great friends, stamping inspiration and all we have to look forward to in the upcoming year (let me just say, it's going to be AWESOME!!!!)  One of the highlights of this convention was meeting in person with several of the design team members on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Blog, I love these ladies and getting together with them in person was just wonderful.  We'll today over on the blog is our monthly scrapbook sketch challenge and Jenn really created another fun one.  I was able to use My Digital Studio to make this page up while I was at the airport heading home on Saturday (how great is it that I can work on my layouts anywhere???)  This page documents some great pictures and times Aidan had last week when he was visiting is Gramma Terri and Great Grandma Molly and Great Grandpa Jack.  Aidan's grandparent live in Washington State and he had the opportunity to spend the past couple of weeks visiting his grandparents and just have lots of fun and making memories (I'm so excited he has this opportunity that he'll remember forever).

This layout gives a great inspirational start that you can really take anywhere, instead of filling up the page with lots of pictures I decided to really just let two be the focus which gave more room for different shapes and elements for lots of fun.

My fellow designers have created several different pages to share and inspire you so make sure to go check them out and then come play along with us for lots of fun!

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Blog Scrapbook Sketch Challenge: School Field Trip Fun

Good morning!  Hopefully you had an enjoyable weekend and were able to let the special men in your life know how much they mean to you for Father's Day.  We had a great weekend of family camping with Aidan's Cub Scout pack and then got home today and relaxed, watched movies, and had fun.  We're also looking forward to the last week of school, only four more days to go.  With all the fun that goes along with the end of school year I decided this was the perfect topic for this month's Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog scrapbook sketch challenge.  Jenn offered us another great challenge this month that would work perfectly with our new Project Life products (have you given them a chance, they're so popular right now!)  I decided to use the same idea but in My Digital Studio to create a fun layout from Aidan's class field trip I chaperoned at the beginning of the month.  This was the first field trip I've chaperoned for quite awhile and it was fun to see all the kids play and have fun while learning about new things.

I have to admit I really love all the different products Stampin' Up! offers right now for memory keeping, which makes it so easy to document all the special occasions, and everyday fun that we all experience.  No matter if it's digital, traditional, or hybrid tools there is something for every one's budget, time constraints, and skill level.  There really is no reason not record your memories to enjoy in the future.  We would love for you to play along with the challenge and make sure to share your project so we can enjoy and send you some love.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Scrapbook Sketch Challenge: Wright Brother's Museum

Good morning!  We had a great weekend at a parade, baseball game, card class, and hanging out just Aidan and I which is always a treat.  Over on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog it's time for a scrapbook sketch challenge and Jenn created a really fun sketch for this month.  Today's page was made in My Digital Studio and I used it for our beach vacation last summer in the Outerbanks.  We had a great time and were able to visit the Wright Brother's National Memorial and we learned so much about everything that was involved in those historic flights.  Plus we got to walk the flight line, up to the top of the hill all they way to the marker showing the furthest flight.

I decided I wanted to use pictures for the background of the page so the key was to use lots of punches that I adjusted to the shapes I needed and then used photo fill to add and edit the photos to fit.  I always have way to many photos for the pages so using them as backgrounds is a fun way to show some additional details.  I also really like the fun film strip element and just grouped three together and then added photo boxes to the centers of the film strip.

I've included a list of all the digital supplies used on the page. We would love for you to come and play along with our sketch challenge, you'll get to make a little more progress on your memory keeping.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Scrapbook SKetch Challenge: Cherry Blossom Awesomeness

Good morning and Happy Monday!  What a beautiful Easter Sunday, the weather was perfect and we enjoyed the rest of our family trip to Hershey, PA and then headed home to get ready for the week.  It's time for this month's Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog scrapbook sketch challenge.  I love these challenges since it gives me a great reason to work on my scrapbooking and I'm able to change up how I usually do layouts which really helps me stretch.  This layout was great since it gave one photo as the focus so I decided to use my pictures from the Cherry Blossom 10 Mile race I ran earlier this month.  Once again My Digital Studio came to the rescue and I was able to use lots of fun elements and change sizes, colors, etc. for just the right effect.
I have to admit, in the past most of my scrapbooking has been focused on Aidan and my family and there aren't a lot of pictures that I was in.  Part of this is because I really enjoy taking pictures but also when I was heavier I really wasn't comfortable seeing myself in pictures.  I've read several things lately about how important it is to get out from behind the camera and be in pictures to help remember special events as well as everyday life since this is how your kids and family remember you so that's what I'm trying to work on.  I really like the result and it helps me remember how I felt as well as my family.  I would highly remember you take more pictures with your family, it doesn't matter how you look but remember how you felt and the memories you're making, it's what will last.

We would love for you to join us with this sketch challenge and make sure to share your projects so we can enjoy and send some love.  Below is a list of all the elements I used on this page:

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Blog: Scrapbook Sketch Challenge Double Page Layout Lots of School Fun

Good morning and once again we have another snowy Monday (really, I think we're all more than ready for spring) hopefully this is the last snow of the season.  We had a great weekend, I ran my first half marathon of the season and had a great time and then of course spent the rest of the day, and actually weekend resting and recovering (I actually slept for 10 hours Saturday which is unheard of for me).  Thankfully I'm feeling great today and am looking forward to my next race in a few weeks.  So today over on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog it's the monthly scrapbook sketch layout and this month Jenn created a great two page layout and I decided to use it to showcase some fun pictures from school last year with Aidan (much warmer times). I love being able to create a vehicle to help remember the little elements down the road and this will be great for Aidan to remember the fun memories of school and wonderful friends.

I used My Digital Studio for this layout and put several elements on the page but really let the pictures be the focus.  I also learned how to make an element span the pages in MDS which is really simple and a fun technique.

The supply list for both pages is below:

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Scrapbook Sketch Challenge: February 2014

Happy Monday!  What a wonderful weekend.  On Saturday we celebrated Aidan’s 9th birthday.  It’s amazing what a great person he’s growing into and I love to see every moment, even if I do wish he would have stayed smaller longer.  For his actual birthday we just had a family dinner at one of his favorite restaurants, Fogo de Chao and the big party with friends is next weekend so we avoid as many people being out of town for President’s Day and missing his party.  It’s the third Monday of the month, which means its scrapbook sketch day over on the Stylin’ Stampin’INKspiration blog and it’s another great sketch and I love all the inspiration created by the designers.  For my page I decided to use the technique of combining multiple photo blocks to show one picture (very cool and easy).  The photos on the page are from Young Author’s Day at Aidan’s school (the kids all have to write, illustrate, and create a book and then read it in front of the class) and is always a highlight for the end of the school year.  I joined Aidan in his class to hear him and his classmates read their books and it’s so great to see how excited he gets every time I come into school (I’m cherishing this since I know it won’t be long before he doesn’t want me to come in).  Aidan and his friend were really hamming it up so I thought it would be great to scrap this moment so he can always remember the fun times with classmates.

It’s really easy to add in all these different designer series paper elements, I just add punches and change them to the desired sizes and then used the “paper fill or photo fill” functions.  I prefer to do this over just adding page layers since then I can change the sizes of the paper images (in this case I made the patterns smaller).

I used MDS for this page and the supply list is included below:

I'm also using this page for my Scrappy Saturday page as I continue to make progress.
I must admit, I typically like to add lots of pictures so it took a lot of restraint to not keep adding pictures to fully fill up the page but this is a great way to showcase just a couple of pictures.

I hope you enjoyed this page and I would love for you to check out the sketch and join in on the fun (it’s a great excuse to get those pictures and supplies out and make progress on your scrapbooking).  You can do either traditional, digital, or hybrid pages, it’s all up to you.  Just make sure to share you project on the Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspiration blog so we can all check it out!

Have a great day!

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Scrapbook Sketch: Castaway Cay Remembering

Happy Monday!  What a wonderful weekend, unfortunately for me I'm off to work this morning while Chris and Aidan enjoy the last day of their long weekend.  It's the third Monday, so you know what that means, it's Scrapbook Sketch Challenge time over on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Blog.  I like this sketch since it lends it self t so many possibilities.  With all the blocks I knew it would be perfect for all the fun we had on our fall Disney Cruise when we spent a wonderfully relaxing day on Castaway Cay.  I used the blocks to show all our memories as well as the fabulous cabana we were able to rent for the day (definitely the ultimate in pampering).

My Digital Studio is a great tool and I love how easy it  to create projects quickly and easily.  I was able to find a photobox page template first and adjust the sizes before I started adding in the pictures and other elements.  Below is the list of items used on this page.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration December Scrapbook Sketch: Ice Skating Adventures

Good morning and Happy Monday!   Did you have a good weekend?  Aidan and I went down to National Harbor and saw ICE, did  little shopping, and of course relaxed at the pool (every kids favorite).  Since we were doing lots of cold holiday activities I was in that frame of mind when I started working on my scrapbook page for the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog scrapbook sketch challenge.  I decided to make a page from last January when I took Aidan ice skating for the first time.  We had a great time, until a little bonk on the head, but he was such a trooper and got back up and skated some more so the fall wasn't his last experience.  Once again, I went to My Digital Studio to make this page since I would work on it on the go.  I love to scrap even the little moments as they're all precious and full of memories.

Here's the sketch we were given and I had so much fun adding lots of chevron and flag punches for accents.  I've included a list of supplies used below.  We would love for you to come play along with the challenge, sketches are a great way to get started since you can take elements that you want for the basic design and then make it your own.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration November Scrapbook Sketch Challenge

Happy Monday!  After another busy week it's back to work as we're heading full steam into the Thanksgiving Holiday.  I have two projects to share with you today so you'll have to come back this afternoon to see today's gratitude card, this morning I want to share a fun scrapbook page I made for this month's Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog sketch challenge.  As I looked back through my scrapbooks (those that are finished) I noticed that there aren't a lot of pictures with me in them or pages that include things that I did.  I read an interesting article recently about the importance of mom's being in the family pictures and documenting all aspects of your life, not just your kids so I'm working hard to include pages about myself as well as a living record of all that goes on in our lives.

Once again I broke out my laptop and My Digital Studio for this sketch and was able to make this page in now time.  This page documents the first 10K run I finished this past April, I trained really hard for it and it felt great once I was done.  One of the fun aspects of this page is I decided to use the image of the course map as the background for a fun change and just lowered the opacity of the picture so it wasn't so bold.  Other than that all I did was add some pictures, text, and some from hexagon elements, along with the title.  Below is a list of all the supplies used on this page.

It's fun to remember that your scrapbooks don't just need to document the major vacations and milestones, they can cover anything including how your feeling on a given day and it'll really help you remember down the road all that you experienced.
I hope this page gave you some inspiration and motivated you to play along with this, or any of the other sketches we've been playing with.
Happy crafting,

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Scrapbook Challenge: Gone Fishin'

Good morning and we're back after a fun-filled weekend!  I can tell that fall has definitely decided to stick around since the weather is cooler, the leaves are falling, and the feeling of fall is all around.  Today over on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Blog we're playing with this months scrapbook sketch.  I really like these scrapbook sketches since it gives me a motivation to continue working on my pages, and since I'm making this years scrapbook in My Digital Studio (MDS) it's even easier since I'm able to work on my projects anytime, any place and all my tools are right on my laptop.  Plus with all the great features in the latest version of MDS you're able to crop and recolor elements, just to name a few functions, so you have endless options.

This past summer Aidan spend a couple of weeks out in Washington State visiting his grandparents and great grandparents.  He had a great time spending time with family and just being a kid.  One of the great things my parents did was take pictures of all the things they did during Aidan's visit and would send them to us each day so Chris and I were able to enjoy all the fun they were having.  While Aidan was at my dad's house they basically spent the week fishing (a first for Aidan) so this page shows some of the fun the boys were having fishing at the local pond.  Love it when when kids can just relax and enjoy being young.
