SSINKspiration Embossing: Painted Harvest

Good morning!  What a change in weather with the arrival of fall, I will say despite the rain the cooler weather is much welcomed by this lady.  Today the SSINKspiration team is sharing cards with embossing.  While you initially think of heat embossing or embossing folders when you think embossing I love that some of our new framelit sets have dies that emboss images instead of cutting so I use those to create my embossed image on this card.

I started with Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardbase and then used Early Espresso as a mat for the cardfront.  I cardfront is Crushed Curry cardstock that is stamped wit the new Buffalo Check background stamp using Crushed Curry cardstock and Cajun Craze ink (this stamp is a must have, especially after you see the cards I'll be sharing this week using this stamp).

For the embossed piece I used Crumb Cake cardstock and used the Big Shot and the Nature's Roots Framelits to add leaf embossing all over the cardstock then distressed the edges and sponged the edges and front of the cardstock with Soft Suede ink to really help highlight the embossing.  I added a piece of Copper 1/4" Trim around the cardstock before attaching it to the cardfront.

For a fun accent I used the Toil and Trouble Designer Series Paper and cut out three of the pumpkins from the DSP with my Paper Snips and used dimensionals to attach a couple of the pumpkins.  Layering elements you cut out from DSP is a great way to make the best use of the partial images on the paper, the back pumpkin isn't complete because it was cut off on the one side but on this card no one can tell.  I used the Painted Harvest stamp set to stamp the leaf on Old Olive cardstock and then cut it out with the Leaf Punch.

The greeting is also from the Painted Harvest stamp set and was stamped in Early Espresso ink on Very Vanilla cardstock before being cut out with the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits (I sponged around the edge using Cajun Craze ink.  I added a small pearl as the perfect finishing touch.

This card is the perfect thing to welcome fall and all that we enjoy about this season!

SSINKspiration Favorite Fall Color Combo: Lots of Happy Kit

Good evening!  So I'm a little late in posting this but I have one more project to share using the Lots of Happy card kit (or at least the stamp set) and the SINKspiration team is sharing their favorite fall color combinations so I knew this was a great way to expand your thinking of options with this kit.

One of my favorite fall color combinations is Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Cajun Craze, and Crushed Curry (along with a foil accent, in this case Copper).

I started with Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardbase and then added Soft Suede cardstock for the cardfront and used the Colorful Season stamp set to stamp the leaves all over the cardfront using Crumb Cake ink.  There are lots of great pieces in the Seasonal Layers Thinlits so I used the simple scalloped piece to cut a scallop border out of Cajun Craze cardstock.

For the stamped image I used Cajun Craze and Soft Suede Stampin' Write Markers to color directly on the stamp and then stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock before punching it out with the Tailored Tag Punch and then sponged around the edge with Crushed Curry ink before attaching it to the cardfront with dimensionals.

To finish off the card I used thinlits from the Seasonal Layers set to cut a couple of detailed leaves using Copper Foil cardstock and a solid leaf using Crushed Curry cardstock (then I wrinkled up the cardstock, flattened it out and then sponged with Soft Suede ink).  The final touch is a bow that uses the Whisper White 1/8" Sheer Ribbon that I colored with the Cajun Craze Dark Stampin' Blends marker.

The copper gives a perfect accent on this card and love the fun shape of the greeting to change things up.  Make sure to check out the other fall color combinations the design team is sharing for inspiration on your upcoming fall projects.

Lots of Happy All-Inclusive Card Kit: Option 2

Good afternoon!  I'm having lots of fun this week with the Lots of Happy Card kit so today I wanted to share another one of the cards that's designed and prepped in the kit.  This was made straight to the design all I did was change up the greeting for some of them (you get to make 4 of each design in the kit).  I don't know if you've noticed but each of the greeting pieces in this kit has a gold foil accent.  My love of the bling is well know and this little bit of sparkle is perfect to help dress up this card, awesome!

Fab Friday Color Challenge #146: Lots of Happy Card Kit

Good afternoon!  The sun has finally come out, and it's glorious so I want to make sure to enjoy every moment.  One piece of artwork that is always better viewed in the sun (in my opinion) is stained glass.  I actually learned how to make stained glass a little when I was a kid and enjoyed it, I even crafted a terrarium that I planted a little garden in.  Anyway, when the Graceful Glass Designer Series Paper was released in this years annual catalog it reminded me of these times which is fun. 

Today I'm sharing another card using the Lots of Happy card kit (this time just the stamp set) and I decided to use it, along with the Graceful Glass DSP to play along with this weeks Fab Friday color challenge.

I started with Powder Pink cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and Garden Trellis Embossing Folder and then wrapped a piece of Gorgeous Grape 1/4" Mini Striped Ribbon around the cardfront.


For the main image I cut a piece of the Graceful Glass Designer Series Paper down to 3"x3" (this paper pack is perfect for cutting down to make a smaller image) and then used my Stampin' Write Markers to color in the glass image (coloring on the back side of the vellum and then mounted it on Whisper White cardstock (note, make sure to use glue dots to attach the vellum versus liquid glue so the color doesn't run, haha!) and then matted this piece with Basic Black cardstock.

To finish off the card I added the greeting and used Stampin' Write Markers to color directly on the stamp and then stamped on Whisper White cardstock and cut it out with the Big Shot and Layering Circles Framelits.  I matted the greeting using Silver Foil that was cut using the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits.  I used dimensionals to attach the greeting to the cardfront.

This color challenge had a lot of colors which was a little overwhelming at first which is why using the stained glass vellum was the perfect fit and perfect for sending birthday greetings with this stamp I love!

Lots of Happy All-Inclusive Card Kit: Option 1

Good morning!  You know I said I would be sharing projects this week using the Lots of Happy Card kit, so I wouldn't be doing this kit justice if I didn't show a few of the cards as designed in the kit.  Now this kit has a lot of watercolored elements so take the time to color all those and then it will be a breeze to assemble all your cards.  This card was one of my favorites, I love the black and white stripes contrasting with the colored flowers. 

So the one thing I will say with card kits, don't be afraid to change up the greetings based on what you personally use.  When I first started making cards from kits I would follow the design exclusively and wound up with a ton of "hi" or "hello" cards, which is great but I don't tend to use those a lot, I need birthday, thank you's, etc. so that's what I do and if a kit has you make multiples of the same design don't feel you have to have the same greeting on each one, I change it up so I have lots of options available when it comes time to send them.

SSINKspiration Anything Goes: Garden Impressions Take on Lots of Happy Kit

Good morning!  A new week of fun to look forward to (and wondering if the remnants of Hurricane Florence will make their way to us) so I decided to change things up this week and will be sharing cards that all use the Lots of Happy All Inclusive kit.  Some of the cards are straight from the kit, and others like today's, use the stamp set to show how you can really get your most from these kits.  Today the SSINKspiration team has Anything Goes! so this card is perfect.

I started with Soft Sea Foam cardstock for the cardbase and then added Calypso Coral cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and Seaside Embossing Folder.  Next I added a piece of the Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper that was matted with Shady Spruce cardstock.

The greeting is stamped in Shady Spruce ink on Mango Melody cardstock and then cut out with the Big Shot and Layering Circles framelits.  To dress the greeting element up I punched a piece of vellum cardstock out with the Tailored Tag Punch and then added a piece of Gold Mini Sequin Trim looped behind the greeting for a little sparkle and the greeting was attached to the cardfront with dimensionals.

Designer series paper provides a wonderful inspiration for color combinations, I wouldn't normally think of adding these four colors together but the DSP helps pull it all together.  Make sure to check out the other cards the design team is sharing to see what they're working for even more inspiration.
