SSINKspiration CASE the Designer (Tobe): Daisy Delight

Good morning!  It's Friday, whoo hoo!  Today the SSINKspiration team is playing another round of CASE the designer and this month we're getting our ideas from fellow designer Tobe and you can see the card of her's I picked HERE.  I like Tobe's classic style and letting an element be the star of the card.  I loved her butterfly card so I decided to use the exact same butterfly die and changed but some of the other element for another fun take.

I started with Very Vanilla Thick cardstock and then added Basic Black cardstock as the mat for the cardfront that uses a piece of the Share What you Love Specialty Designer Series Paper (this paper is awesome and this piece has a beautiful pearl effect that is wonderful in person).

Next I added a piece of Grapefruit Grove cardstock and stamped the greeting from the Daisy Delight Stamp set in Basic Black ink.  Instead of wrapping the ribbon around the entire cardfront I just wrapped it around the greeting piece and used Gold 3/8" Metallic Edge Ribbon.

The butterfly die from the Springtime Impressions Thinlits to cut the butterfly out of Basic Black cardstock and then used the Big Shot and Subtle Dynamic Embossing Folder to add some texture to the butterfly (check out this closeup picture).  As I usually do with butterflies I only add glue to the center body so I can fold the wings up off the cardfront.

I love the softness of this card and how the butterfly feels like it's flying off the card, great inspiration Tobe!

SSINKspiration CASE the Designer (Cathy Autrey): 25 Again

Good afternoon!  I get creative inspiration from so many different areas, including the amazing designers that share their creations and those that I'm honored to work with on some design teams.  Today the SSINKspiration team designers are taking inspiration from one of our own, Cathy Autrey and CASEing her creations for today's projects.  I was looking through Cathy's blog and found so many lovely cards and decided to case this card she made for the April card sketch, see Cathy's card HERE.  I also decided to use this project to provide another idea using the 25 Again stamp set (it's lots of fun!)

I started with Sahara Sand cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Basic Black cardstock as the cardfront.  I used two different patterns of designer series paper from the Share What You Love Speciality Designer Series Paper and used Rich Razzleberry cardstock as mats for the two tall DSP panels.

For the main stamped image I stamped the box and candle images on Whisper White cardstock using Tuxedo Black ink and colored the sides of the box and candles with a mix of Stampin' Blends and Stampin' Write Markers.  For the top of the box I stamped the box image on a piece of Wood Textures Designer Series Paper and then stamped the greeting in the center using Mossy Meadow ink  I used Paper Snips to cut the top piece out and then glued it to the front of the colored piece.

Once this was done I used the Big Shot and Layering Ovals Framelits to cut out the greeting and used dimensionals to attach it to the cardfront.  For a final touch I tied a bow using a piece of Pool Party twine from the Nature's Twine package.

The like all the different color options this DSP provides and the pearlized images are just stunning, perfect for helping celebrate someone's special day!  Don't forget the 25 Again stamp set is my and if you haven't placed your order message me and I can include your items with my order.  If placing your order on your own, don't forget to use Hostess Code:  W4TZWC4X.  This offer is valid through Sunday night, July 8, 2018.

SSINKspiration CASE the Designer (Pamela Wu): Truly Tailored

Good morning!  Inspiration comes from all around and all the amazing crafters who share their projects are certainly an inspiration for me so today the SSINKspiration designers are playing CASE the Designer and using Pamela Wu's projects and style as inspiration for today's cards.  I love the clean lines of Pam's cards so I decided to make a masculine card to get ready for my dad's birthday which is later this month (thankfully dad's not online much so I'm hoping he doesn't see this, and if you know dad mums the word).

I used Tranquil Tide cardstock for the cardbase and then added a cardfront using Crumb Cake cardstock and used the Truly Tailored Stamp Set (retiring) to stamp the diamond images along the right side using Night of Navy ink.

Next I used the True Gentleman Designer Series Paper (retiring) and added two flags as a base for my greeting.

The greeting is from the same stamp set and I stamped the greeting using Chocolate Chip ink (retiring color) on Very Vanilla cardstock and then cut it out with the coordinating Tailored Tag Punch (while the stamp set in this bundle is retiring the punch will be carrying over) and then I used my Tranquil Tide Stampin' Write Marker to add faux stitching around the edge of the greeting.  You may see a little bit of gold peeking out from below the tag punch, I took a piece of Gold 3/8" Metallic Edge Ribbon and colored it using my Tranquil Tide Stampin' Write Marker before attaching it so the tails peek out the bottom.

To personalize this for my dad I did stamp the "dad" sentiment (also in this stamp set) using Night of Navy ink on Crumb Cake cardstock and then cut it out with the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits and used a dimensional to attach it.

Here is Pam's original inspiration card, I didn't stray too much from her design, you can check out her blog HERE.

I'm really falling in love with the fabulous colors and patterns in this designer series paper and while I'm sad it's retiring I'll be using it for a lot of masculine projects coming up, super simple to make great masculine looking cards to let the "dudes" know how much we appreciate them.  Remember, all the retiring items I'm sharing are available while supplies last so you don't want to wait if there's something you want, place your order soon!

SSINKspiration CASE the Designer (Nicole Loe): Birthday Wit

Good morning!  It's been crazy at our house with hubby traveling for work the past few weeks, along with last weekends getaway I haven't had much crafty time (I know so sad) but today the SSINKspiration designers are playing another round of CASE the Designer and I knew I had to get in on the fun.  Today we're focusing on Nicole Loe and here projects as inspiration.  I enjoyed browsing through her blog and found Nichole's original card HERE that I new would be perfect.  Anyone who knows me knows birthdays are about sweet treats so I loved the Birthday Wit stamp set so I decided to combine it with this yummy cookie paper for a fun and cheeky card.

I used Peekaboo Peach cardstock for the cardbase and then took a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock and embossed it with the Big Shot and Scattered Sequins Dynamic Embossing Folder.  The designer series paper is from the Picture Perfect Party DSP Package and matted it with Rich Razzleberry cardstock.

The greeting from the Birthday Wit stamp set was inked with Stampin' Write Markers and stamped on Whisper White cardstock.  I used the same design of Basic Black Ribbon behind the greeting that Nicole did using the Basic Black 3/8" Shimmer Ribbon and weaved it across the back of the greeting before attaching the greeting to the cardfront with dimensionals.

I love the color combination on this card, which was inspired by the DSP and let's be honest, don't these cookies just look yummy?  I would certainly eat them for my birthday!

SSINKspiration CASE the Designer (Cheryl Hamilton): Dragonfly Dreams

Good morning and Happy Friday!  Holy wind Batman is it crazy outside, there are definitely no dragonflies out and about today.  Today the SSINKspiration designers are playing another round of CASE the Designer.  This month we're focusing on Cheryl Hamilton and her wonderful creations.  I had fun looking through Cheryl's blog for project inspiration, so much to choose from, and when I saw this ship in a bottle card for one of her card classes, see Cheryl's card HERE.  Now I don't have the stamp set Cheryl used but I used the background idea and sketch as inspiration for my card.

I started with Smoky Slate cardstock for the cardbase and then added Basic Black for the mat on my Whisper White cardfront.  I embossed the cardfront with the Big Shot and Ruffled Dynamic Embossing folder and then used Brusho Crystal Color and an Aqua Painter to create the watercolor background (I spritzed the cardstock with water first and then used my Heat Tool to dry the cardstock so I could finish the card.)

The greeting is from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and was stamped on Smoky Slate cardstock with Basic Black ink before cutting it out with the Big Shot and Layering Ovals Framelits.  I used the coordinating Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits and Big Shot to cut the string of dragonflies out of Silver Foil cardstock so it really pops againsted the blue watercolor wash.  The final touch was to add some enamel dots from the Metallics and Subtles Enamal Shapes sets.

I definitely feel several similar elements in both my card and Cheryl's, while adding my own spin, I hope Cheryl approves.
