Fab Friday Sketch Challenge #FabFri137: Confetti Celebration

Good morning!  This time of year is full of celebrations, between graduation, start of summer, birthdays,etc. we seem to be celebrating a lot.  So it was that theme of celebrating that I embraced for this weeks Fab Friday sketch challenge and make this quick and easy card!

I started with Lemon Lime Twist cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of the Tutti-Frutti Designer Series Paper (retiring), love this watermelon print.

For the greeting I used the Confetti Celebration stamp set (retiring) and stamped the greeting in Basic Black ink on Peekaboo Peach cardstock (retiring In Color) and then added a piece of Basic Black cardstock that was punched with the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch for a fun element.









To finish off the card I used the Balloon Bouquet Punch to punch out a small balloon with another pattern from the same DSP pack.  I used a tied a piece of Whisper White Baker's Twine around the bottom of the balloon and then attached the balloon to the cardfront with a dimensional so the balloon looks like it's floating away.

This card is super easy but perfect to help celebrate whatever is special today and it doesn't take a lot of tools or special techniques for so any level of crafter can enjoy making it.  Make sure you have this designer series paper because even though it's retiring next week it has lots of fabulous prints you will want to use all summer long.

Springtime Foils Sale-a-bration Fun: Confetti Celebration

Good afternoon!  We're in the final countdown for Sale-a-bration, only 3 days left to get in on the savings (don't miss this!!)  I wanted to share a really cute and easy project that uses one of the Sale-a-bration freebies, Springtime Foil Specialty Designer Series Paper, which I love!!

We all need birthday gifts so I used our new Silver Mini Gable Box to create this perfect gift package.  I took a strip of the Springtime Foil Specialty Designer Series Paper and colored in the flowers using the Calypso Coral Stampin' Blends.  I used the same blends (the light marker to color the Gold 3/8" Metallic Edge Ribbon to finish off the top of the box.

For the greeting I used the Confetti Celebration stamp set and stamped the greeting on Calyso Coral cardstock using Versamark ink and then heat embossed it using the Heat Tool and Gold Emboss Powder.  I used the Big Shot and Layering Circles Framelits to cut out the greeting and then attached it to the box with dimensionals.

Isn't this just perfect?  I love the bright cheery colors and accents of silver and gold.  Another cool things about these boxes, is if you're traveling to a party and are short on space you can completely decorate the box and then collapse for easy traveling and then pop it up and fill it up once you arrive and it'll be perfectly safe (awesome!!)

SSINKspiration Technique Challenge #SSINKTC47: Ink, Spray, and Smash

Good morning!  We had a wonderful weekend and are so happy Aidan returned home safely from scout camp and it was fun hearing about all his adventures, these kids are crazy!  We're starting a new week which means it's time for a challenge and this week the SSINKspiration blog has a fun technique challenge to play with and I decided to combine this with the July Proverbial Stampers color sketch.  This month we're using the Ink, Spray, and Smash Technique, another new technique for me but now that we have glossy cardstock back there are so many fun techniques to try out.

I'll start with the technique first, it's really simple but you do need some time to let the cardstock dry before finishing your card.  I took a piece of glossy white cardstock and added some random drops of Pacific Point and Real Red ink.  Then I spritzed the cardstock with water and took another piece of glossy white cardstock and laid it on top and twisted and smooshed it slightly.  Then you just pull them apart and set them aside to dry. 

To finish off the card I matted the cardfront with Basic Black cardstock and then attached it to a Real Red cardbase.  The greeting is from the Confetti Celebration stamp set and was stamped in Pacific Point ink on Whisper White cardstock and then cut out with the Big Shot and Layering Ovals Framelits.  To finish this piece I sponged round the edge with Real Red ink.  Next I took a piece of Silver Foil cardstock and used the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits to cut out a dressed up mat.  I used dimensionals to pop up the greeting from the silver layer.

Before attaching the greeting piece to the cardfront I added a piece of Delicate White Doily to just peak out of the bottom and then tied a knot using some Silver Natural 3/8" Trimmed Ribbon and added it to dress it up.  I add some small Silver Glimmer stars that were left over from a card I shared last week so I added one to the greeting for a little more glimmer (you can never have too much!)





This is a pretty fun technique and you get a unique look each time (both pieces of my glossy cardstock turned out different and if you look closely there were different thicknesses of ink remaining for some added texture.  The other design team members have make some beautiful cards using this technique so go check them out and then give this technique a try and share what you create, I would love to see it!

SSINKspiration Technique Challenge #SSINKTC43: Paper Weaving

Good morning!  What a beautiful Saturday we had, absolutely loved it!  The guys had fun camping and I enjoyed some quiet time and time with friends.  It's the start of a new week, and it's my birthday week, yeah! so today we're starting off with a fun technique challenge over on the SSINKspiration blog.  This month it's all about paper weaving and I'll admit this was a technique I don't use often and took a little liberty with my card but variety is the spice of life, right?

With all the different patterns and colors on this card this is a great way to let the designer series paper and background take center stage and be the star of the card!

I started with Sweet Sugarplum cardstock for the cardbase and then used a piece of Basic Black cardstock to mat my Very Vanilla cardfront.  On the cardfront I attached lots of different strips of designers series paper from the Playful Palette DSP stack that were cut at 1/2" wide and alternated the patterns.  I really helped to layout the strips first before attaching them to get the look I wanted and then attached them.  I also cut my strips extra long at first to make sure I had enough coverage and then trimmed them down and used the little pieces to fill in the background pattern.


As bright and cheery as these colors and patterns are I knew I need to make this a birthday card so I used the Confetti Celebration stamp set and stamped the greeting in Emerald Envy ink on Very Vanilla cardstock and then used Paper Snips to trim the tails for the flag.  I also stamped the little party lights string on the greeting piece using Blushing Bride ink before attaching the greeting to the cardfront with dimensionals.  The final touch was to add a bow tied out of Peekaboo Peach 3/8"  Ruched Ribbon to add some texture.

This is a great technique to use up paper scraps that you hate to get ride of and definitely shows off all the great patterns of paper in our DSP packs and it doesn't take a lot of tools or supplies so this is just as easy for the beginning crafter as the more experienced.  Make sure to check out the other great cards the design team is sharing using this technique, they're really great and will give you even more inspiration before you play along with us and use this fun technique.
