Fab Friday Color Challenge FabFri136: Marquee Messages

Good morning!  I seem to be having a lot of birthday's this time of year so I'm in constant need of birthday cards.  It was the need for one of these cards that provided the inspiration for today's card that uses the Fab Friday color challenge.  I also wanted to get some more time playing with some items that are retiring before they go away, one of those is the Marquee Messages stamp set, it's got some great bold sayings and it's lots of fun to bling up.

For this card I started with Basic Gray cardstock for the cardbase and then used a piece of designer series paper from the Tutti-Fruitti Designer Series Paper (retiring).  The main stamped image was stamped with Basic Black ink on Whisper White cardstock and then I used by Smoky Slate and Bermuda Bay Stampin' Blends to color the image, as well as a Lemon Lime Twist Stampin' Write Marker for the little "lights" and then I went over the lights with the Clear Wink of Stella.  Before attaching this piece to the cardfront I matted it with Basic Gray cardstock.

The final touch is the "party like a rock star" greeting (from the same stamp set) and was stamped in Basic Black ink on Basic Gray cardstock and then cut out with the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits and attached with dimensionals.  The final touch is a double bow tied with Whisper White Baker's Twine.

These colors are the perfect combination with the fun look of this stamp set and will help celebrate a  birthday to a tee.  I don't believe I've used this color combination before but will definitely be using it again.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Blog Hop: ABC, 123 Fun!!

Good morning!  With summer rapidly coming to an end (much too soon in my opinion) I’m getting ready for my holiday catalog preorder to arrive (later this week) and know when it arrives I’m going to be completely distracted with new goodies so I’m continuing to enjoy all our great annual catalog items now.  Today over on the Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspiration blog it’s time for our monthly blog hop and this month’s theme is ABC, 123 which means making a project using one stamp set, two designer series paper, and three accessories.  One of the first sets I had to get was Marquee Messages and I had an idea for this card that is completely blinged out so I decided now was the perfect time.

As you hop along, please be sure to comment and show some love on every blog! We are always excited to hear from our followers! You should have just left stop number #6 on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Blog Hop - Darcy at Dj's Stampin' Place. If so, you are in the right spot. If a link doesn't work or you get off track, you will find the full blog hop lineup below.

I started with Smoky Slate cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of DSP from the Pop of Pink Speciality Designer Series Paper package, what was matted with Emerald Envy cardstock.  Next I added another piece of Smoky Slate DSP from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack.

For the stamped image I used the Marquee Messages stamp set and stamped the large image using Basic Black on Whisper White, Melon Mambo, and Emerald Envy cardstock and then used Paper Snips to cut out all three pieces.  A Smoky Slate Stampin’ Write Marker was used to color in the words on the Whisper White piece.  I used my Gold Wink of Stella Pen (love how easy it is to add a touch of bling with these pens) to color in the elements on the left side of the sign as well as one of the star bursts on the Emerald Envy piece.  I used dimensionals to attach the Melon Mambo sign arrow as well as a star cut out of Gold Glimmer Paper using the Big Shot and Stars Collection Framelits.  The final touch was to add rhinestones to each of the circles on the arrow to mimic the lights on a marquee sign and are really what puts this card over the top.

This card really brings a smile to my face and the sparkle and shine play a huge part (I know, big shocker!!) and will be great to just let that extra special person know how you feel about them.  I know if I received this card (or whenever I get a card with sparkle it seems extra special and makes me happy!

SSINKspiration Friday Favorites: Marquee Messages

Happy Friday!  One of the great things with SU demonstrators is swaps, which is a great way to have lots of samples to show of the products in a new catalog, especially if you don’t own all the great sets that are out there (despite what my hubby thinks I don’t own everything SU offers).  I made this card for a recent new catalog swap and it features one of my favorite new stamp sets, Marquee Messages so I thought it would fit perfectly with today’s Friday Favorites blog post over on the SSINKspiration blog.

I started with Melon Mambo cardstock for the cardbase and then added a layer of Whisper White Cardstock that I stamped the little stars on the background using Melon Mambo, Emerald Envy, and Pumpkin Pie ink.  Next I took pieces of Melon Mambo, Emerald Envy, and Pumpkin Pie cardstock and stamped the big marquee image in Basic Black ink on all of them.  I added greetings to the bottom banner and then cut out the arrows and banners from the Melon Mambo and Emerald Envy cardstock (this way I have extras that are already stamped and cut out for another project.  I attached the Melon Mambo banner to the Pumpkin Pie piece and then used my Gold Wink of Stella Pen to color in the stars for a little subtle bling.  Dimensionals were used to attach the Emerald Envy arrow so it really pops of the cardfront.  This whole piece was matted with Basic Black cardstock before attaching to the cardfront.  The final touch was to add a bow I made using Emerald Envy 3/8” Ruched Ribbon.
This set is so fun and fresh and I love how you can build whatever greeting you need, love it!!  And it’s super easy (even the fussy cutting didn’t take too long and I made 11 of these).

Have a great weekend!
