Proverbial Stampers Color Challenge: Birthday Delivery Disney Style!

Good morning!  It's taking a little to get back into our usual routine after vacation but I have a dear friend with a sweat daughter who's birthday is this week and she's an even bigger Disney fan than I am (if that's possible) so I wanted to send her a special card and decided to use the Proverbial Stampers color challenge as inspiration (along with Minnie of course!).

I started with Pool Party cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Berry Burst cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and Sparkle Embossing Folder.  Now you know I'm not great a punch art but a Mickey head is easy to make with some Basic Black cardstock and circle punches (I used 2 1/4" and 1" Circle Punches).  I wanted to make this a Minnie so I added a bow tied with Daffodil Delight 1/4" Double Stitched Ribbon for the perfect bow.

The greeting is from the Birthday Delivery stamp set and after using Stampin' Write Markers to color in the greeting and stamping on Whisper White cardstock I used the Big Shot and Lots of Labels Framelits to cut the greeting out and then trimmed it down on one side with my paper cutter.  Dimensionals  were used to attach the greeting so it pops off the card.






This card is bright, cheery, and lots of fun, just like the birthday girl herself.  And let's be honest, who doesn't smile when they think of Disney?  I'm sure she will love it!

SSINKspiration Anything But a Card: Disney Cruise Treats!

Good morning!  This summer is flying by, can't believe we leave on our cruise in a few short weeks.  I've mentioned before that we like to give little gifts to our servers and stateroom hosts who always make our trip so magical so for today's SSINKspiration blog sharing anything but a card I decided to share one of the treats I've made for the cruise.

I used the Popcorn Box Thinlits and cut the box out of Real Red cardstock and then used the Burlap stamp set to stamp some texture all over the box.  I used the 2 1/4" and 3/4" Circle Punches to punch the pieces for my Mickey head and then since this is a cruise I used the Seaside Embossing  Folder to add some waves.  I used the scallop trim die (in the same thinlit set) and some Silver Foil cardstock to cut some rick-rack pieces to decorate the top of the box.  The greeting is from the One Big Meaning stamp set and was stamped in Real Red on Whisper White cardstock and then cut out with the Classic Label Punch (I did sponge around the edges with Basic Black ink) and then attached the greeting with dimensionals.

To finish off the treats I used one of our gusseted cello bags, filled it with chocolates and then tied it with some Silver 3/8" Metallic Edge Ribbon (absolutely love this ribbon!!)

I haven't decided if I'm just going to make more of this same design for the gifts or do different one's (a lot will depend on my ability to pack these to arrive at the ship safely) but I love how cute this is and know little treats are always appreciated for the crew who work so hard!

Fab Friday Sketch Challenge: Magical Disney Birthday Wishes!

Good morning! We cruised through September and we're officially beginning October, I really can't believe it.  Today I'm sharing the card I made for this weeks Fab Friday Sketch Challenge.  This weekend I had the honor of attending a friends birthday party this weekend to help her celebrate her 50th birthday and since she's a major Disney Fan I decided to use this sketch challenge as the basis for today's card.  I started with Melon Mambo for the cardbase and then added a layer of Basic Black cardstock and then Whisper White that I layered under the Gold Fancy Designer Vellum Foil Paper (I really like how the gold embossing stands out against the white).  For the Mickey head I used the 1 1/4"Circle Punch for the ears and the Big Shot and Circle Collection Framelits for the circles.  I made the bow using the heart punch from the Itty Bitty Punch pack and the 1/8" Handheld Circle Punch for the center.  Of course I had to make the "50" glittery so I used some Gold Glimmer Paper and the Big Shot to cut it out.

 

For the accent tails I used some Basic Black Chevron Ribbon and Gold Sequin Trim.  The greeting is from the Remembering Your Birthday stamp set and is heat embossed on Basic Black cardstock using Versamark Ink, Melon Mambo Embossing Powder and the Heat Tool.  After embossing I used the Modern Label Punch before attaching it to the cardfront with dimensionals.

 

This card was lots of fun to make and a big hit and I really believe a special birthday deserves an over the top card (it makes life more fun!)

Disney Cruise Treats, Inspired by a Card: Merry Everything

Happy Thursday!  I'm so excited, we're officially on vacation and get to board the Disney Dream in just a few short hours.  I have to say our family loves all things Disney, and especially Disney Cruising, it really is relaxing and magical!!  One thing that really sets Disney apart is the service they provide, the Castmembers (CM), aka cruise staff, really go above and beyond to make your trip special.  In return we really like to do a little something for our dining room staff, stateroom host, and the kid's club personnel to let them know we appreciate their efforts.  For this trip I made these little treat bags filled with goodies (since we've been told the CM's don't have a lot of space and access to everyday items).  Of course I had to decorate it up and I received a wonderful card from my friend Michelle Suit, and knew it would be perfect for the cruise.  I used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set to stamp on the bag and then used lots of different punches to make the pirate Mickey.  The tag is a sneak peak of the new Merry Everything stamp set and matching punch (which will be released next month in the Holiday catalog).  Then I just used some Basic Black Chevron Ribbon (and retired Real Red Grosgrain ribbon) to make a cute little knot.

Here's a picture of Michelle's original card, isn't it beyond cute?  I kept the colors and most elements the same since they were perfect but I did downsize the punches to make the Mickey head a little smaller for the bag.  You could easily use these bags for birthday or holiday treats, or just to let someone know you're thinking of them.

I know the CM's will love the treats and we're looking forward to a fabulous time.
