30 Day Gratitude Challenge: Day 23 (SSI Thanksgiving Card)

Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving Eve!  Today I'm thankful for starting our family holiday and heading out to spend a few days with some dear friends, it's a tradition!  Before the fun gets started I wanted to share today's gratitude challenge card and I used it on the SSINKspiration blog where the design team members are sharing Thanksgiving cards.

Now you may recognize several elements in this card, it was the same as Monday's card and I just changed a few things up to completely change the card. 

This card showcases the Basket of Wishes stamp set and I used the Heat Tool and Copper Embossing Powder to stamp the greeting on top of the decorative mask sponging on the cardfront.  For the main stamp image I stamped the basket and gourds onto Very Vanilla cardstock and after coloring it all in with Stampin' Write Markers I matted it with Cajun Craze cardstock and attached it to the cardfront with dimensionals.  The final touch was to add a bow I tied using Garden Green Baker's Twine from the Baker's Twine Trio Pack.

The mixture of textures, metals, and colors make this a perfect fall card and way to send Thanksgiving wishes.  Make sure to check out the cards the other design team members are sharing for more inspiration.

30 Day Gratitude Challenge: Day 21

Good morning!  After an eventful and jam packed weekend I have a really fun card and cool technique for today's gratitude card.  This uses heat embossing to make a faux metal embellishment, we made this card awhile back at stamp class and while it's a bit of work it's a fun technique that was definitely a hit with the ladies.

I started with Rich Razzleberry cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Soft Suede cardstock as a mat for the Very Vanilla cardfront.  On the card front I took the Seasonal Decorative Mask (on sale starting today as part of the Online Extravaganza so don't miss it) and sponged the sweater knit pattern using Soft Suede, Cajun Craze, and Rich Razzleberry ink.  Then I added a piece of designer series paper from the Petals & Paisley's Specialty Designer Series Paper (this cool copper foil piece of paper is beautiful!!)

To make the faux embellishment I took my Big Shot and the Hello You Thinlits and cut the "thanks" greeting three times out of Whisper White cardstock.  Then I glued all three cutouts together so they were stacked.  So now comes the messy part, I covered my thanks in Versamark ink and then covered it in Copper Embossing Powder and heat embossed it with the Heat Tool.  Once it was set I reapplied Versamark and embossing powder and heated it up again.  You do this a total of three times and it's really cool a the end you get a cool metal look and the edges of the cut out the embossing starts to wrap around the edge for a realistic look (provided a close up here so you so you could try to see it).  Isn't this cool?

To finish the card I took a piece of 5/8" Burlap Ribbon and attached it to the cardfront using Fast Fuse Adhesive and then attached the greeting using the Fine Tip Glue Pen (I had to place a punch on top of the greeting to weight it down so it would stick really well).  The final touch was to add a Cajun Craze Enamel Dot from the Regals Enamel Dots in the top right corner.

I was so happy with how this card turned out, and didn't use a single stamp, go figure.  Can't wait to use this technique on other projects using different colors of emboss powder and cut outs, so fun!!

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Color Challenge SSINKCC38: Traveler

Happy Monday!  With the arrival of October (how is that possible??) we've started a new year at Stampin' Up! and I'm really looking forward to all that's in store.  To get things started we have a fun new color sketch over on the SSINKspiration blog and combined products from both the Annual and Holiday catalogs for a fun result.

I started with Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardbase and then added another layer of Crumb Cake for the cardfront that I started by using the Seasonal Decorative Masks and sponged the dots using Crumb Cake ink in a diagonal effect across the cardfront.    Then I took a sponge and sponged around the edge of the cardfront with Crumb Cake ink and attached the cardfront to the cardbase with dimensionals so it stands out.  Next I added a couple of flags, the first using Sweet Sugarplum DSP from the 2016-2018 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack and the other used Crush Curry cardstock and was embossed with the Big Shot and Softly Falling Embossing Folder. I used Paper Snips to cut the tails in the flags.

For the stamped image I used the Traveler stamp set and stamped the globe image (love the antique look of it) using Crumb Cake ink on Whisper White cardstock and then cut it out using the Big Shot and Layering Ovals Framelits.  I made mat for the oval using the same ovals and some Soft Suede ink. before attaching it to  the cardfront with dimensionals.  The greeting is from the Guy Greetings stamp set and was stamped in Sweet Sugarplum ink directly on the cardfront.  The bow is made with Crushed Curry Baker's Twine and then I added a few enamel elements using the Regals and 2016-2018 In Color Enamel Dots.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Blog Hop: Welcoming Fall

Good morning!  It’s amazing how the start of school naturally gets us all thinking about fall, the beautiful colors, cooler weather, and of course Pumpkin Spice invasion (haha!!)  Just as we’re sad to say goodbye to summer we’re welcoming Fall with open arms.  It’s this arrival of fall that we’ve decided to focus on for this months SSINKspiration blog hop.  All the designers are excited to share some great projects to help get you in the spirit of the season change and all the upcoming holidays we have to look forward (and prepare for)!

I decided to change things up this month and not make a card (I know crazy!) and great this cute little gift bag using our Muslin Bags as the base (and the cool thing is, you could do everything I did on this bag on a card and come up with an equally stunning card. 

I started with a Muslin Bag and cut a piece of the paper backing from a DSP package (or other piece of cardboard would work, this is so your ink doesn’t bleed through your bag onto the back) and used the Dots and Stripes Decorative Mask and a Sponge Dauber and applied ink in Blackberry Bliss, Soft Suede, Tangelo Twist, and Mossy Meadow to create the patter on the bags.  Note:  you can also stamp on these bags using our inks, just make sure to have something on the inside and hold the stamp down a little longer without moving it so you get a good stamp (it’s pretty cool!!).

For the tag I started by cutting a circle out of Soft Suede cardstock using the 2” Circle Punch and then embossed it with the Big Shot and Woodgrain Embossing Folder.  For the leaves I used the new Vintage Leaves stamp set (so pretty) and coordinating Leaflets Framlits (you can get them in a bundle and save 15%) and used Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey, and Tangelo Twist for the leaves.  The greeting is cut using the Greeting Thinlits, Big Shot, and Mossy Meadow cardstock.  I added a piece of Gold Sequin Trim (I’m becoming addicted to this stuff) and a knot tied with the Blackberry Bliss 5/8” Striped Cotton Ribbon as the final touches.  To attach the decorative piece to the bag all I did was add several strips of Fast Fuse Adhesive and attached it to the bag, awesome!!

These bags are a pretty good size and can hold either some yummy candy treats, a couple of small candles (I have some fall scented votives that would be perfect and the scent may actually come through the bag for a little hint of the fun inside).  The colors and textures on this bag are so pretty and simple to pull together.

Can You Case it? Design Team - Sketch Challenge CYCI #79

Happy Sunday!  This will sound a little selfish but we have been enjoying our relaxing, kidless week (we miss the kiddo but it’s a little fun to have a break, just being honest!)  Today I’m meeting a friend for manis/pedis and I’m really looking forward to this, plus I’m hoping to finish getting ready for convention since I leave on Tuesday.  For this weeks Can You Case It? Sketch challenge since several of the designers are getting ready for convention we were given a play day and we could create anything we wanted.  I’ve been making a lot of birthday cards so I wanted to break out and do something different and I was so excited when the Groovy Love stamp set was in the new catalog so I decided to give it a little love. 

I started with Rich Razzleberry cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Whisper White that I sponged with the Hearts and Stars Decorative Mask (these are such a great tool, and very inexpensive!!)  The greeting is from the Lovely Amazing You stamp set (this stamp set was the last one released as part of the original monthly Photopolymer Stamp set program which means it may only be available for 6 months after it’s release so if you want this set in your stamping toolbox make sure to order soon!) and was stamped in Tuxedo Black Momento Ink (I will admit it depends on the day if this saying is true, don’t you agree???,  Haha!!)  Next I added a piece of Gold Designer Series Paper (from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack (this is a new addition this year and it’s great!!) and matted it with Basic Black before attaching it to the cardfront.  I used the ½” Circle Punch to punch little notches on the sides so I could wrap some Basic Black Baker’s Twine around the DSP layers and then tie a bow.

For the main stamped image I used the Groovy Love stamp set and stamped the heart outline in black ink on Rich Razzleberry cardstock before cutting it out with the 2” Circle Punch.  Next I stamped the dotted heart in Versamark Ink on Basic Black cardstock and then heat embossed it with the Heat Tool and Gold Embossing Powder and then punched it out with the Sweetheart Punch and attached both layers with dimensionals so it really pops up.

It was fun to change things up and add lot of “luxury” to this card with the gold, embossing, and sponging, this could be a great anniversary card or just letting someone know you’re thinking of them, it’s fun to surprise people with card, just because.  The other designers have come up with some great cards to inspire you so please, go check them out and then share your card so we can see all the fun!
