SSINKspiration Technique Challenge #SSINKTC51: Reflection Technique

Good morning!  What a crazy weekend, we had snow Saturday and then by Sunday afternoon had beautiful spring like weather, Mother Nature is really having some mood swings this year, haha!  Today on the  SSINKspiration blog it's time for another technique challenge and this month is the Reflection Technique and since I'm beyond ready for spring I decided to use that spring feeling we had yesterday as inspiration for today's card.

I love the Reflection Technique because it looks really hard, just be for years I never understood how people did it and once I saw the instructions I was amazed at how easy it is!!

I started with Soft Sky cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Berry Burst cardstock as the mat for the Whisper White cardfront.  For the design I started with Early Espresso ink and the Colorful Seasons stamp set and stamped the original branch and then stamped it again on the window sheet, flipped it over and gently rubbed the window sheet on the cardfront to create the reflection.  I did the same thing with the flowers on the branch using Berry Burst ink.

Now it was time to start building all the dimension on the cardfront.  I used Stampin' Sponges and Sponge Daubers to apply the ink (Pool Party and Marina Mist for the Sky), Old Olive and Always Artichoke for the Ground, and Soft Sky, and Marina Mist for the water.  I also used both daubing and swirling the sponges for extra effect.  Once I was finished I used Early Espresso ink to stamp the greeting and then used a piece of Whisper White 1/4" Organza Ribbon to tie a bow to finish the card.

This is actually a pretty quick and easy card that will definitely impress and it'll be our little secret about how easy it was.  Make sure to check out the other design team cards for inspiration and then we would love for you to play along with us and share what you create.

Fab Friday Color Challenge: Epic Celebrations

Good morning!  We have just about 2 weeks left in Sale-a-bration 2018 and I'm loving all the wonderful freebie options we have this year so I've been playing with them a lot lately.  The Epic Celebrations stamp set is so fun and perfect to use with Stampin' Blends, I've been stamping images and taking them along with my Stampin' Blends to color while I wait at different activities Aidan has, it helps the time go by.  I decided to use one of the guitars I colored for this weeks Fab Friday color challenge for this epically fun card.

I started with Pool Party cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Soft Suede cardstock as a mat for the Whisper White cardfront.  On the cardfront I used Old Olive ink and the dot stamp from the Epic Celebrations set to stamp along the diagonal and then when back over it with Pool Party ink and the large watercolor image from the Eclectic Expressions stamp set (another SAB Freebie!).

Next I used the Big Shot and the Stitched Shapes framelits to cut a circle out of Whisper White cardstock and then sponged it with a Sponge Dauber and Rich Razzleberry ink.  I used Champagne Foil paper and the Starburst Punch to cut a circle out and then used Pool Party cardstock for the greeting and after stamping in Soft Suede ink I cut it out using the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits.

I love the fun guitar image and after stamping it I used the Old Olive and Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends to color in the guitar.  To help add a little more dimension and distressing to the guitar I used the Stampin' Blends Color Lifter to color over parts of the guitar to remove some of the Olive Olive ink and it gave just the effect I was looking for.  I used dimensionals to attach the guitar and the greeting to the cardfront.  The final touch was to add some Rich Razzleberry Enamel Dots from the Brights Enamel Shapes package.

This stamp set is great for those guy and teen cards and since my kiddo fits both those categories I see a lot of use for this set in my future, in all sorts of colors.  And with how busy we all are who doesn't need a little coloring therapy?  If you don't have these two Sale-a-bration stamps sets all ready don't miss out and place your order so you be ready for all sorts of projects!

SSINKspiration Get Well Soon: Heartfelt Blooms

Good morning!  Today the SSINKspiration team is sharing get well soon cards.  I'll admit this isn't a type of card I sent all that often but I wanted to make something bright and cheery since if I was sick I know that would definitely help me feel better.  Also, there are only 3 weeks left in Sale-a-bration so I managed to use 3 different SAB freebie items in this card, crazy how I did that!

I started with Flirty Flamingo cardstock for the cardbase and then added Basic Black as a mat for the Springtime Foils Speciality Designer Series Paper (this was part of the second release SAB items and it is truly stunning, don't miss out on it).

I used the Heartfelt Blooms stamp set (a SAB freebie!) and that realistic flower stamp is so gorgeous just in Basic Black on Whisper White cardstock.  I used Flirty Flamingo to mat the flower layer and attached it offset for a little fun.

The saying is from the same stamp set and was stamped in Basic Black in on Flirty Flamingo cardstock before cutting it out with the Big Shot and Layering Ovals Framelits.  I used the same framelits to cut the scalloped oval mat out of Basic Black cardstock before attaching it with dimensionals.  The final touches?  I silver heart from the Metallics Enamel Shapes Pack and a bow tied in Basic Gray Shimmer Ribbon from the 3/8" Shimmer Ribbon Pack (also a SAB freebie!)

This is a simple card but the little extra foil and shimmer helps elevate the card and really will make someone feel extra special.  Make sure to check out the other cards the design team is sharing for more possibilities.

SSINKspiration: Paper Pumpkin 5th Year Birthday!

Good morning and Happy Friday!  Sometimes as much as we want to use all our products and fancy tools to make beautiful cards sometimes we don't have the time, space, or even resources.  One of the great things Stampin' Up! has is the Paper Pumpkin Program.  This is a subscription kit where each month you get delivered to your door beautiful, surprise projects fully prepped with all the supplies and instructions, ready to go.  I love these kits as I can use them as designed or modify them for what I need and they are perfect for on the go, traveling, or anything.  This month Paper Pumpkin celebrates it's 5th birthday so today the  SSINKspiration team is sharing some projects using the great Paper Pumpkin kits.

My card uses the February 2018 kit and it's pretty much exactly as designed I just trimmed down the cardfront and added a piece of Melon Mambo cardstock as a mat for a little extra punch of color.  I love how beautiful and detailed this card looks and only you and I know that all the hard work was done for me, whoo hoo!

SSINKspiration Color Sketch #SSINKCC50: Eclectic Expressions

Good morning!  I hope you all survived this weekends crazy wind storm with not too much damage.  We lost power for 15 hours which has never happened to us but all things considering we held up pretty well (but oh man were my runs this weekend more than a little challenging with all that wind providing resistance training).  It's the start of the new week which means it's time for a color sketch over on the SSINKspiration blog.  As soon as I saw these colors I thought it would be prefect to show off the new Eclectic Expressions stamp set, which is one of the newly released Sale-a-bration Freebies!

I started with Sweet Sugarplum cardstock for the cardbase and then added Basic Black as a mat for the Whisper White cardfront.  On the cardfront I randomly stamped several images along the right side of the card using all the colors from the challenge, Sweet Sugarplum, Soft Sky, and Rich Razzleberry.

The greeting is from the same stamp set and was stamped in Basic Black ink on Whisper White cardstock.  Then I used the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits to cut out the greeting but my cardstock strip was a little smaller than the oval so cut it to have a flat top and bottom and then cut out an oval using the same die using Rich Razzleberry cardstock so it peaks out of the top and bottom (before attaching the two pieces I did lightly sponge the edges of the white piece with Soft Sky ink) and then attached the greeting piece to the cardfront with dimenionals.

Of course I needed to dress this up with a little bling so I started with a piece of Whisper White 1/4" Organza Ribbon and used the Pool Party Light Stampin' Blends to color the ribbon (the lighter marker is close to Soft Sky so it coordinates) and then used a piece of Silver Mini Sequin Trim and tied the two pieces together for a fun double bow.

I'm always in need of birthday cards and this has a fun, modern feel to it I can't wait to get it out in the mail to a special friend.  Make sure to check out the other cards the design team is sharing using this color challenge and then we would love for you to play along with us and share what you create.
