Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Challenge: Bombs Away Birthday

Wow, I must say we're sure rushing into summer quickly, we barely saw spring, but I'm not complaining, it feels like just yesterday we were freezing cold so I'm happy.  Today I'm playing along with the Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Challenge and I love the colors selected, they are so bright and summery, perfect for this time of year.  These colors are from the Retro Fresh products suite and while I wouldn't have come up with them on my own, they are fabulous.

I started with a cardbase of Coastal Cabana and added a piece of Baked Brown Sugar Cardstock that's embossed with the Big Shot and Chevron Embossing Folder (I only embossed the top part of the paper so the bottom was smooth under my DSP layer).  Next I added a piece of Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper and matted it with Tangerine Tango Cardstock.

For the main stamped image, I decided to make a birthday card and used the Bombs Away Photopolymer Stamp set (it is really beyond awesome!) and used my Stampin' Write Markers to color in the stamp before stamping on Very Vanilla Cardstock before matting with Coastal Cabana Cardstock.  I used some individual, randomly placed Gold Sequins for a flashy accent and a piece of 7/16" Natural Trim Ribbon that was scrunched up (I used sticky strip to attach the ribbon to the card so it sticks perfectly).

One of the best parts of this cards is that it would work equally well for guys and girls, young and old, and it's funny so it's perfect for lots of my friends and family.  Below I've added some easy ordering links for all the products used on this card and the Natural Trim Ribbon and Retro Fresh DSP are retiring at the end of this month so you only have a couple of weeks left to order (unless they sell out sooner).

Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge: Bombs Away Birthday Photoploymer Stamps

Happy Monday!  So for once I'm really looking forward to a Monday.  Want to know why, because I only have one more week before our family vacation and I can't wait to get away and enjoy the beach with friends and family.  There are lots of things I'm trying to get wrapped up before we head out of town so I decided to use this weeks Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge as the inspiration for a birthday card I needed for a friend who's birthday we're celebrating while at the beach.  This card starts with a Crumb Cake cardbase and I added a layer of Island Indigo before adding three strips of Soho Subway designer series paper (I love the more masculine images in this paper pack, it's perfect for guy cards).  I added three of the new Candy Dots to the top right colors in various colors from the DSP.

Next I added a piece of 1 1/4" Burlap Ribbon and I cut off the edges and frayed them to add some added texture.  The greeting uses the Bombs Away Birthday Photopolymer Stamp set (if you haven't noticed yet, I LOVE this set because of it's "snarky" messages, so out of the box.  I colored in the stamp with Stampin' Write Markers before stamping to add all the colors and then used the Big Shot and the Oval Collection framelits to cut the greeting out.  Next I sponged around the edge with Crumb Cake ink.  I added a little piece of the same Soho Subway DSP that was punched out with the Artisan Label Punch and sponged around the edge with both Crumb Cake and Summer Starfruit ink.  The final touch was to add an Early Espresso Button (had to use a retired one since I don't have the new Neutrals Buttons yet) and tied a bow with linen thread.

This card turned out so awesome, I love it!  It's got lots of texture and dimension that all work together and I know it will be perfect to send birthday wishes for our friend.  This sketch challenge works so well with all our designer series paper and you could make all types of cards by just changing the patterns, inks, and greetings, love the versatility.

Hope you enjoy and have a great day!

Hand Stamped Sentiments Sketch Challenge: Six Sided Sampler Meets Bombs Away Birthday

Happy Monday friends!  What a fun filled weekend, I got to experience Hobby Lobby with a friend, this was my first visit and boy what a fun store, I could have spent all day there.  Also Aidan and Chris got home Sunday afternoon and it was so great to get the family all back together and Mocha really enjoyed having us all back.  So I was able to spend a little time in the studio this weekend so I wanted to get back to participating in some sketch challenges and was able to make some birthday cards I needed in the process.  This card is for my hubby and is for the Hand Stamped Sentiments sketch challenge.  I used Whisper White, Smoky Slate, Basic Grey, Basic Black, Real Read, and Pacific Point for the color palette for this card.

I love the hexagon graphic elements that are so popular right now so I embossed the black piece with the Big Shot and the Hexagon embossing folder and then added lots of hexagon shapes using stamped pieces from the Six Sided Sampler stamp set as well as different Designer Series Paper, including (the Polka Dot Parade DSP, Brights Paper Stack, as well the retired Neutrals Paper Stack (I haven't order all the new paper, yet!).  The coordinating hexagon punch made punching these guys out super simple and they all fit together.  I also added some Whisper White and Pacific Point 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain ribbon.  The greeting is from the Bombs Away Birthday Photopolymer stamp set (love the tongue and cheek greetings!) and cut it and the mat with the Oval Collections Framelits.

I really like how this card turned out, it's fun and fresh and totally right for a dude card.

Hope you enjoy and have a great day, it's supposed to be beautiful here in Northern VA, we even have the AC off and the windows open at home, don't normally get to do that in July.

Happy stamping,

Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge: Bombs Away Birthday

Good evening friends and I hope you had an enjoyable Mother's Day!  We got to enjoy a crazy busy Saturday and then relaxed and enjoyed spending time together today (along with going to see Iron Man 3, the boys really wanted to see it and it was lots of fun, and Robert Downey Jr. was looking mighty fine, just saying!!!)  One thing I definitely wanted to do was get into the studio and just have some fun playing since I haven't had much time to just create for fun lately.  Today's card is for the Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge and this was definitely a color combination that I wouldn't have picked but it was lots of fun.  I decided to use the new Bombs Away Birthday Photopolymer stamp set for this card since I love the fun, light-hearted greetings.  I started with a Baseful Blue cardbase and then added a layer of Summer Starfruit that I embossed with the Big Shot and the Hexagon embossing folder.  Next I added a piece of Real Red Polka Dot DSP from the Summer Smootches DSP pack (one of my all time favorites!) and I used Finishing Touches Edgelits to add a jagged border along the bottom.  A piece of Black Polka Dot Scallop Polka Dot Ribbon is the perfect accent along the middle.

Next I stamped the bomb image with Basic Black ink and cut it out with Paper Snips before using a dimensional to attach it to the card.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set and was stamped on Bashful Blue cardstock, before being cut out with the Apothecary Accents Framelits.

This is such a fun card and one that will definitely be great for a special friend.  If you don't have this new photopolymer stamp set, or haven't tried this new type of stamps you've definitely got to try them out, they stamp beautifully and the images in this particular stamp set and so fun and whimsical, perfect for my friends.

Enjoy,

Diana

Hand Stamped Sentiments Sketch Challenge #158: Bombs Away Birthday

Good evening and we've arrived at the end of another weekend, where does the time go?  Tonight I'm sharing my card for this weeks Hand Stamped Sentiments sketch challenge.  I just received my latest order that included the Bombs Away Birthday stamp set, the latest photopolymer stamp set.  This is a super fun set with lots of unique and fun greetings, I thought it would be perfect for this sketch.  The cardbase is Island Indigo and then I added a layer of Whisper White cardstock and designer series paper from the Summer Smootches DSP pack.

I used Stampin' Write markers to ink the photopolymer stamp set and stamped on Whisper White cardstock. I have to admit, these stamps stamp beautifully, you can see exactly where the image will be stamped and it's nice, clean images. Next I cut the greeting out with the and Big Shot and the Ovals Collection Framelits.  For a nice accent I used some Tangerine Tango Scalloped Polka Dot Ribbon (retiring) as well as a Lucky Limeade printed designer brad
I love this card!  It's so bright and fun and I can't wait to give it to a special friend, and I'll definitely be using this stamp set again, awesome!

Enjoy,

Diana
