Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Scrapbook SKetch Challenge: Cherry Blossom Awesomeness

Good morning and Happy Monday!  What a beautiful Easter Sunday, the weather was perfect and we enjoyed the rest of our family trip to Hershey, PA and then headed home to get ready for the week.  It's time for this month's Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog scrapbook sketch challenge.  I love these challenges since it gives me a great reason to work on my scrapbooking and I'm able to change up how I usually do layouts which really helps me stretch.  This layout was great since it gave one photo as the focus so I decided to use my pictures from the Cherry Blossom 10 Mile race I ran earlier this month.  Once again My Digital Studio came to the rescue and I was able to use lots of fun elements and change sizes, colors, etc. for just the right effect.
I have to admit, in the past most of my scrapbooking has been focused on Aidan and my family and there aren't a lot of pictures that I was in.  Part of this is because I really enjoy taking pictures but also when I was heavier I really wasn't comfortable seeing myself in pictures.  I've read several things lately about how important it is to get out from behind the camera and be in pictures to help remember special events as well as everyday life since this is how your kids and family remember you so that's what I'm trying to work on.  I really like the result and it helps me remember how I felt as well as my family.  I would highly remember you take more pictures with your family, it doesn't matter how you look but remember how you felt and the memories you're making, it's what will last.

We would love for you to join us with this sketch challenge and make sure to share your projects so we can enjoy and send some love.  Below is a list of all the elements I used on this page:

Happy Easter, Blessed Easter!

Good evening!  I know I'm a little late but I spent the holiday weekend out of town with family and while I had the best of intentions to get on the computer to share the last of my Easter cards, we were having such a great time that I have to admit I didn't get on the computer all weekend, I know you'll agree how important family time is and forgive me. Tonight I'm sharing two different cards I made using the Blessed Easter Single stamp.  I love this tulip image and it works equally well with the Easter greeting on the stamp or for other spring time sentiments, such as birthday, thanks, etc.  I started with Smoky Slate for the cardbase and added a piece of Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper that was matted with Whisper White cardstock.  The main stamped greeting was stamped in Basic Black on Whisper White Paper and then colored in with a Blender Pen and Pool Party, Island Indigo, and Gumball Green Classic Ink.

I matted with this with Gumball Green cardstock and added a Paper Doily along the right side.  The final touch was a few little Pearls in the top right corner.

For my second card I used a lot of the same items but created a very different look.  This time I used Crumb Cake for the cardbase and used a different pattern from the Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper paper package to draw the colors from.  This time for the stamped image I used versamark ink and Gold Embossing Powder, along with the Heat Tool, for a raised glossy design.  I again used the blender pen and Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango, and Gumball Green Classic Ink to color in the tulip (just doing forget to take a paper town and wipe off the image after you color it in to remove the excess ink from the embossed parts since it won't dry and will rub onto your cardstock, trust me I know from experience).

This time I used my Big Shot and the Oval Collections Framelits to cut the image out.  I also used the Big Shot and Fancy Fan Embossing Folder to embossed the Gumball Green cardstock.  The final element was to use the Paper Piercer Tool and Occasions Paper Piercing Pack to pierce around the edge of the oval.

I really like how different both these cards turned out, very beautiful and different, both cards also very "mailable" which is great.  Also, I wanted to remind you that the retirement list is being released tomorrow morning you you'll want to make sure to check it out.  Remember EVERYTHING on the list, including stamps for the first time, are only available while supplies last. Some of the products that we already know will be retiring are all the 2012-2014 In Colors (including Gumball Green that I used on these cards). These items will sell out quickly so don't wait (one of the reinkers is already sold out).  To help make it even easier to order, starting tomorrow through April 25 Stampin' Up is offering FREE Shipping on all order, no matter the size, so it's like saving 10% instantly, awesome!!!

Below are links to the products I used on these cards so you can easily order everything you need to make these and lots of other cards and projects in your home.

Sketch Frenzy Friday Sketch Challenge: Hip Hip Horray Greetings

Happy Easter Friday all!  We've been having a great week and looking forward to some family time at an amusement park that Aidan has never been to before this weekend, can't wait.  Before we get started I wanted to share my design team card for this weeks Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch challenge.   I recently had time to play with the new Hip Hip Horray Card Kit and I love it, I was able to make all 20 cards in the kit in less than 2 hours and had extra pieces plus the stamps left.  I decided to use the card kit for inspiration for this weeks card.  I started with a cardbase that's Crumb Cake Cardstock and then added a piece of Soft Suede Cardstock that I embossed with the Big Shot and the Arrows Embossing Folder.  I added a piece of Calypso Coral DSP from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack.

The word bubble element is an extra piece from the card kit and I stamped the "thanks" greeting in Basic Gray.  I used one of the extra paperclips from the kit and tied a bow out of Calypso Coral Baker's Twine.  I used the Circle Card Thinlits Die to cut a star out of Pistachio Pudding Cardstock and attached it with a dimensional.

For a fun accent I used one of the Essentials Wooden Elements, with a piece of Basic Gray cardstock that was punched out with the 1" Circle Punch and the words from the Just Saying Stamp set that was punched out with the 3/4" Circle Punch and layered them all.  In the bottom right corner, instead of a greeting I added some sequins from the Gold Sequin Trim for a little sparkle.

These card kits are so great, not only do you get some great cards you can make quickly and easily but the ideas and stamps can be used for lots of other projects.  We would love for you to play along with this weeks sketch challenge, it's great to get the creative juices flowing.

Have a great weekend and a Happy Easter!

Last Minute Easter Card: Eggstra Spectacular

Good morning!  I know we only have a few days until Easter arrives (are you enjoying your spring break?) so I thought I would share some of the Easter cards I made for my family to give you some last minute ideas and spread some holiday cheer.  The cards I'm sharing today use the Eggstra Spectacular stamp set which is beyond cute.  This first card I made for Aidan and is perfect for little boys (not a piece of pink anywhere to be seen).  The cardbase is Gumball Green and I added a layer of Smoky Slate cardstock what I stamped the little egg border along the bottom in Island Indigo ink. I added a piece of Watercolor Wonder Designer Series paper that I cut with the fringe scissors to replicate grass (I need a little bling so I added a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper along the bottom).  I added a piece of Daffodil Delight 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon for some extra fun.

The eggs are stamped with the Eggstra Spectacular set and are stamped color on color with Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight, and Island Indigo before being punched out with the Extra-Large Oval Punch. The final touch was to stamp the little bunny image on a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock, colored him in with a Blender Pen and Crumb Cake Classic ink and then cut him out with Paper Snips (isn't that little tush cute???)

My second card uses the same stamp set and several of the Sale-a-bration items I earned last month. The cardbase is Sahara Sand and I added a piece of Pistachio Pudding cardstock that was embossed with the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder (I'm so excited that this embossing folder will be in next year's catalog and we got to earn it FREE first) and Big Shot.  The designer series paper was also from SAB and was the Sweet Sorbet DSP with matching Baker's Twine.

I cut the decorative piece out with the Big Shot and the Deco Labels Framelits and then embossed the piece (make sure to cut it out first) with the Oval Designer Frames Textured Embossing Folder.  I stamped the rabbit and greeting image in basic black, colored in the bunny and then punched out the piece with the Extra-Large Oval Punch and popped this piece up with dimensionals for extra fun.  The final touch was to stamp some of the little eggs and I colored them in before cutting them out with my Paper Snips and gluing them onto he card.

These cards are so cute and I'm sure everyone who receives them will love them.  It's also great to see what different looks you can get with the same stamp set.  Enjoy and come back, I'll be sharing more Easter cards later in the week using a different stamp set.

I've included links below to the products I used on the above products so it's really easy for you to order them from the comfort of your home.
