SSINKspiration Color Sketch #SSINKCC51: Great Big Greetings

Good morning!  It was another fun weekend, part of which was chaperoning Aidan's band trip for a competition at Kings Dominion.  It was a crazy day and the kids did great.  I used the occasion of the bands success as inspiration for today's card using the SSINKspiration blog monthly color sketch and the fun stamp set, Great Big Greetings (which unfortunately is retiring).

I used Dapper Denim cardstock for the cardbase and then used a piece of Sweet Soiree Speciality Designer Series Paper (retiring) with this awesome Flirty Flamingo print with the Silver foil speckles.

For the stamped image I used my Stampin' Write Markers to ink up the stamp and used Whisper White cardstock.  Smoky Slate cardstock was used as mat and mimicked the silver foil in the DSP.  I wanted to add a little extra so I used a piece of the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper and cut it out with the Big Shot and a decorative piece from the Popcorn Box Thinlits Dies (retiring).  The final touch was to tie a double bow using Dapper Denim Baker's Twine (retiring).

This stamp set is so awesome, great fonts and sentiments I love it and will definitely be keeping this in my stampin' stash (any one with teens needs this!).   Make sure to check out all the other cards the design team is sharing using this great color combination and then we would love for you to play along with us and share what you create!

SSINKspiration Celebrations: Great Big Greetings

Good morning!  Spring has lots of occasions to celebrate and one of the most popular is weddings, in fact while we were touring James Monroe's Highland estate yesterday where was actually a rehearsal for a wedding that was happening this weekend (apparently they host regular weddings onsite).  Today the SSINKspiration designers are sharing cards for celebrations and since my card is for a wedding it perfectly fits what we saw yesterday.

I started with Berry Burst cardstock for the cardbase and then used a piece of Sweet Soiree Specialty Designer Series Paper, with lots of silver foil trimmed cake pieces, that has so much detail and color.

For the greeting I used the Great Big Greetings stamp set and stamped it in Berry Burst ink on Whisper White cardstock and then cut it out with the Big Shot and Layering Circles Framelts.  To mat the greeting I used a Delicate White Doily and used a sponge to color it with So Saffron ink.  The final touch was to tie a bow using Silver 3/8" Metallic Edge Ribbon and I colored it with the Old Olive Light Stampin' Blend Marker.

Weddings to me have to have sparkle and shine so I had to have some special bling on this card so this speciality paper and metallic trimmed ribbon is perfect to help celebrate the big day!

30 Day Gratitude Challenge: Day 7 (Fab Friday Color Challenge)

Good morning!  Apparently this week is fun with color challenges since I decided to play along with the  Fab Friday color challenge for today's 30 Day Gratitude Challenge creation.  These are some bright, bold colors so I decided they needed an equally bold stamp set so I used the Great Big Greetings stamp set.  Because of how big this greeting is it is definitely the focal point of the card.

I started with Tangerine Tango cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Fresh Fig cardstock for a thin mat to the Pumpkin Pie cardfront.  I stamped the greeting using Fresh Fig ink.

To add a little embellishment to the card I cut a small star out of Tangerine Tango cardstock using the Big Shot and a piece from the Wood Crate Framelits from and then embossed it with the Big Shot and Softly Falling Embossing Folder.  I added a little mat to the star I used some Silver Foil cardstock and trimmed just around the edge of the smaller star.  I used a dimensional to attach the small star before attaching the piece to the cardfront.  I decided the star needed a little something more so I took some Whisper White Baker's Twine and dyed it by running it over the Fresh Fig ink pad repeatedly until I got the color saturation I wanted and tied a bow and attached it to the star.

This card is super simple and really lets the greeting be the star.  I'll admit I've never used both Pumpkin Pie and Tangerine Tango in together in the same project so that was fun to try something new.
