Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Challenge: Suite Sentiments

Good morning!  It’s so much fun when I get a little extra time and get to play along with challenges, it really helps me get outside of my usual style.  Today I decided to play along with the Hand Stamped Sentiments Color challenge and these are colors I don’t normally use together.  I also decided to play with one of my Sale-a-bration freebies, the fun Inside the Lines Designer Series Paper and decided to color the whole piece in so my little card took much longer than I initially planned but was very happy with the end result.

I started with Flirty Flamingo cardstock for the cardbase and then added a layer of Basic Black cardstock which is a great mat to help the colors pop from my coloring.  On the Inside the Lines Designer Series Paper I used Flirty Flamingo, Emerald Envy, and Watermelon Wonder to color in and used both Stampin’ Write Markers and a blender pen and ink pads to work to get definition and different layers and dimension of colors in the design.

For the greeting I used the Suite Sentiments stamp set (don’t overlook this set in the Occasions catalog just because it’s on the last page) and stamped the greeting in Emerald Envy ink on Watermelon Wonder cardstock before cutting it out with the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits (so happy these are back in stock, I’m kind of obsessed right now). And then made a mat using some Copper Foil Paper and the Layering Circles Framelits and then Basic Black with the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  Dimensionals were used to attached the top layer for a little extra height.  The final touch was to add a double bow I tied using Emerald Envy Baker’s Twine.

One of the great things about having such a detailed background is the rest of the elements can be more simple so they compete with each other and instead work together.

Enjoy and have a great weekend!
